This is a great article on Dr. Oz. About him selling out. "How an award-winning doctor turned away from science and embraced fame." https://www.vox.com/2015/4/16/8412427/dr-oz-health-claims

And if you haven't read the Science Babe takedown of the Food Babe, it's delicious (pun intended). http://gawker.com/the-food-babe-blogger-is-full-of-shit-1694902226

I guess in America, you can do what you want and that's a good thing......Oz is no doubt making a butt load of money and that's his right....still, it saddens me and pisses me off a guy so credentialed (news to me) could just forsake the science he knows to be real to be seduced by money, fame, Oprah and "belly blasters."

fuck dr. Oz.....trademarked as "America's Doctor"

I think "judge" judy was recently in the news too.

Talk all you want about "Dr" Oz but don't you dare apply those quotation marks to JJ

I think her latest entry in the news was related to her sex life (and much as I admire her, do NOT need to know about this).

I guess Dr. Oz plans on offering his defense soon.

I like the bit about his opinions being offered "without conflict of interest". Does he not benefit from some of the products he hawks?

I don't know if he gets any compensation for the stuff he promotes but I doubt he'd have his own show and magazine if he didn't keep everybody so well "informed" about alternative therapies.

I work in public health and he makes my life miserable, although I'll admit that I don't get asked about him as much as I used to.

Enkidu's article cited an example where a guy who had had a heart attack, quit taking his Plavix on the advice of Oz and had another heart attack and coded. He lived to admit he got his advice from Oz and not from his own cardiologist. Dr. Oz is only a threat to stupid people, I guess.

She had to resign after her huge on-air n****r rant.

Somebody once told me something like "I eat 5 organic blueberries soaked in gin everyday because Dr. Oz says to!" I guess that's fairly harmless compared to stopping your Plavix. Unless you're an alcoholic.

Those articles Enkidu posted were excellent. After reading an article about him in The New Yorker a couple of years ago, I learned enough to know that even if he's "America's Doctor," I wouldn't want him for mine. He performs surgery one day a week now. I don't care how skilled he is, if I needed somebody working on my heart I'd want it to be a doc that's doing it regularly.

Well good morning to you, Mr. Crankypants!

I'm aware of her history and how she worked her way up (the article is a couple years old, by the way).

It's odd to me how she's given shit for earning what she does, but others get a free pass (or no judgment - pun intended!).

    Like I said, it's OK.

*edit - I should correct myself in that I know about her work history and a bit about her upbringing, but don't have much interest in the personal life side of things.

I just did. Hilarious. I had no idea. (I'm new to Twitter and today there was #RuinThePartyIn5Words and I wrote "Nancy Grace just walked in." There's somebody on Twitter who is NancyGracesNostrils.)

I really didn't know that many people hated her.

Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil, Oprah... these guys are amazing. They have a cure for everything! Now if only I could get my own TV show. Why? Well simple: I would solve global warming, end all wars, do away with illiteracy, put an end to all bigotry, eliminate poverty and starvation and make everyone a PJ/Dinosaur Jr/Neil Young fan. Those other folks cured everyone of all disease and now I plan on taking care of the rest.

Who wants to produce my show?

    Anyone?
