they won't be able to schedule it that early with any certainty. fauci and others have said that even if we get a good vaccine by end of 2020, getting everyone vaccinated will take months, likely to the end of 2021.

and that's not even talking about the anti-vaxxers that are surely going to put a massive wrench into the efficacy of it long term.
True, but we could see that certain things only get opened to people who can show proof of having had the vaccine.   If I had a vaccine I'd go to a show, but I wouldn't if I didn't.   I suppose in regards to the live events, is will there be enough vaccinated people to fill up an arena/stadium.  You are correct that only so much of the population would be vaccinated by next summer.  Manufacturing will be the next hurdle.
50 million doses globally by end of this year, 1.3 billion by end of next. that's the amount for the whole planet, and divide that into two, as it is a two dose vaccine.
Pfizer probably won't be the only company that comes out with one... so there could be other ones from other companies.   I'm also gonna go out on a limb, and say here in North America, we're probably not going to be the last people on the planet to get it.

I actually think there is a chance for summer in Europe.  There will probably be multiple vaccines green lighted by year end and getting at risk / first responders vaccinated first with others thereafter + some amount of herd immunity to a certain extent lowers the risk immensely.  Add in improved therapeutics and it's a different ball game than it was earlier this year.  There is money to be made and I think the risk will be low enough by the summer.  Live Nation stock didn't pop today under the premise that concerts wouldn't be back until 2022.

I find the timing of the Pfizer announcement a little interesting, essentially 36 hours after Biden is announced the winner after months of everyone saying it can’t be done for another year.

They said they might have one by the end of this year but not to get too optimistic. And even if there was one it would take some time for everyone to get it. Not only because of the many they would have to make. But those that won't take it.

In the case of Pfizer they needed to have x number of cases before an effectiveness claim could be made and supposedly that just happened on Sunday.  That being said, last night the FDA granted EUA to the Eli Lilly treatment.  I don’t think there’s any new data on that one that hasn’t existed for at least a couple of weeks.  As a human and music fan I’m happy with any and alll signs of progress, but the timing is indeed a little interesting.

I think there will be other vaccines too though.  Fall 2021 would be a reasonable thing to shoot for.  Granted, it is not guaranteed.  Summer in Europe seems less likely, but hey, that’s still 7+ months away.  Maybe there’s a chance.
Exactly,  their will be multiple vaccines available  by spring of next year.  Plus you only need 60-70% for heard immunity.

In the US, I think there’s gonna be a massive push to get the country vaccinated by the start of the 21-22 school year. So while it may be slow going in the winter, I’m expecting a massive push during the spring and over the summer.

I find it hard to believe we will have full arena's here in Europe by the Summer of 2021. I hope management / the band can make a decision in the first quarter of 2021. Like others it involves flights/accomodation booking and Im not planning on doing any of that in the near future. I bought from the Venue so was only offered a voucher as a refund so not ideal when you live in a different country.

I feel like there's probably a significant correlation between being anti-vaxx and having already contracted covid and/or in the near future, just based on them probably being generally reckless. But yeah, in no way do I think this news makes the notion of 2021 tours any more likely.

Operation Warp Speed - massive influx of government money to speed up the development of a vaccine. Companies don't normally gamble their own money running Phase 1, 2, and 3 concurrently. They wait for final results from Phase 1 before they actually begin Phase 2. Moderna was the first to enter human trials, has a similar platform to Pfizer (mRNA) and is part of Operation Warp Speed. Not a coincidence that President Elect Biden chose Pfizer to illustrate actual vaccine progress.
    Things were different then

Who said, it can’t be done for another year?

also, please note, that the conspiracy against 45 is not limited to the US. Pfizer is working together with Biontech, a German company. So, the Germans colluded to hold the News until just after the election in the US.

    Sound about right.

Oh no doubt.  I was just referring to the statement “everyone is saying it can’t be done for another year”.   I think that person doesn’t understand the difference between a vaccine being ready and the time it will take to get the world vaccinated.
