Not trying to sound like a Bush hater, but the NSA was started under him. However, Obama should be ashamed of himself to continue the act when he said it was wrong before being elected.
However, I don't think he is "determined to demolish the foundations of our civil liberties," nor do I think Bush was.

dennis kucinich was a minority in the democratic party long before obama came along. he was a radical lefty in 2000.
the gop is anti immigration reform. rubio made his proposal last year and the gop turned on him. the texas republican party official platform released this week is clearly anti immigration. rick perry supports giving in state tuition to kids of illegal immigrants, and he is paying the price politically for that support.

Some how I don't think Obama or republicans in general or democrats in general or libertarians in general are in favor of a wide-sweeping elimination of personal liberties. It seems to me that in general republicans are against removing the liberty to own and carry guns almost anywhere and against taxation of almost any form. The democrats generally are against removing the liberty to smoke weed and enjoy state and national parks. And libertarians generally are against removing the liberty to do anything they want to. Yes, I am generalizing, but generally speaking I think what I'm saying is true.

I'm saddened to see someone thinks this is a joke.
What made me laugh was your selective editing of the linked article's by line. Very Breitbartish and Infowarsish of you. Still funnier was your use of Obama in your headline but a minute mention of him by name in the article you linked to, in the context of the president with a direct link to the NSA's servers in Utah, personally selecting individuals for closer scrutiny, ruin or for shipping off to GITMO I suppose?
Actually Truman started the NSA, and gimme I am no conservative. Our common ground is Libertarianism.
You're right. I was referring to all the recent hardcore-spying stuff.

Black Panther Party? I'm sure there's a political party out there somewhere that espouses those views. I always enjoy seeing the really obscure parties that make the ballot in my state. Cool Moose Party ran Robert Healy for Lieutenant Governor on a platform of eliminating the office. Ran for governor once or twice as well. Might do so again this time around.

Wow- sorry to side-track here briefly but my reaction to this was "Whoa! Does the Black Panther organization still exist? Well, they do and sort of shame on me for not knowing that. I lived in the Bay Area during the hey day of the Panthers and those were some heavy duty cats. Never had a problem with them myself- most of what they did made sense to me back then. I also thought the black and brown stamps were cool.

Actually many states have done away with Lt Gov, it is a waste of money.
anti immigration, pro gun, anti tax, those are part of the republican party platform.
just sayin, man.
Just saying there are only 2 choices?
What if you are anti-immigration, anti-gun, and anti-tax?
Or pro-immigration, pro-gun, and pro-tax?
the official republican party platform is all of the things that i have listed. they update their platform every year, and 2014 official party platform is no different.
even after the "2012 autopsy" they are doing the exact opposite of what their autopsy said that they need to do to be more appealing to more people.

Uh, ok. But that doesn't answer the question, do you have to be either a republican or a democrat?
No, I don't think so. You can be independent and vote either way. I'll most likely cross party lines to vote in our governor's race this year and I've split my ballot amongst the parties in the past. I vote the candidate and not party.

I never forget that the NSA was started under Bush (okay, correction: spiraled out of control under Bush), but the fact that Obama determined to go after NSA whistleblowers and made that the big issue instead of confronting how wrong the NSA is has really turned me off Obama. I think he's done some good things - Obamacare is a step in the right direction, the US economy is out of recession, troops out of Iraq and soon out of Afghanistan (ummm, that whole issue is sketchy, but still), and I don't even think he's as diabolical as most politicians are generally .... But the way he's handled the NSA scandal is appalling.

The NSA began just after WWII as a response to the evolving threat of nuclear weapons while Truman was president. Bush, Cheney and Turd Blossom took it to another level. Totally.

I also don't believe that the GOP is anti-immigration, there are some that are anti-illegal immigration however many are pushing for reform now.
