Talkin' of music...has anyone noticed the nod to Bowie on '1/2 Full'? Being an old time Bowie freak I made the connection first time. Listen to Bowie's song 'Width of a Circle' on the album 'The man who sold the world' and then listen to '1/2 full' - especially the end part. They're identical.0 -

OK, I'm gonna give Rid Of Me (PJ Harvey) a
It's not abecause after a couple of listens I'm still a little wary of going anywhere near her...
This album is emotionally & sexually charged throughout, intense, raw, just look at some of the song titles: Rub Til It Bleeds, Man-Size, Snake, the jilted lover on Rid Of Me... frightening stuff for the male of the species...
Her soft then loud (viceral) approach on the lead off title track makes me jump out of my skin every time, the attitude is then maintained for a draining 48 minutes at which point I quickly threw on Revolver for some light relief, this is heavy shit but very well done, highlights for me being Missed (at times sounding like Chrissie Hynde), the re-invention of Highway 61 revisited and 50ft Queenie.
Guys, approach with caution...Astoria Crew

thanks Dave i liked ur review made me laugh!
rid of me the track was the 1st polly song i ever heard on a john peel show , i dashed out n bought her 4 track demo and have been buying everything ever since. songs i truly love are , rid of me, rub till it bleeds (can never get enough of it) 50ft Queenie, Man-size, legs. others that make me laugh , Me Jane, snake those are crazy . def. a christian ref. on a few much like her album This is Desire, which also has more of the crazy polly in and its that switching from loud to soft and the full-on female power she gives it that i love
. there u go thats me n polly , if anyone wants more of her give me a shout
so Rita , Al, Pipa, Byrnzie !!!! Reviews !!!
and who would like to offer up an album next ????~~~~~~~~~~ PINK FLUFFY LOVE PSYCHO~~~~~~~~~~

yeah, about 3 people a decade are killed there
Dave, she's coming from Belfast for fucks sake... they eat bullets over there manoh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0
