As i've no religious affliation I fuckin hate christmas - it's the worst time of year and it illustrates how fucked up everyone in our society has become obsessing over material possessions - I absolutely hate it - although seeing as I have a ten year old daughter I have to somewhat mark the fuckin occasion or i'd be seen as the worst parent ever !! In saying that though I don't go mentally extravagant and i encourage my daughter to look at christmas as a time of trying to remember others not be consumed with what presents people are going to give .......
Last year we gave everyone solidarity gifts - like purchasing wells , chickens, goats and such like for those in relatively poor or fucked up areas of the world that kinda made my conscience feel lighter ...........anyhow my point is I wanna kill Santa !!!!! or the idea of this fat bastard who gives everyone ( who can afford it) toys and shit.

if i was 10 years old and you gave me a fucking wishing well i'd shit into your socks ;)

i love christmas and make no apologies about that... i fucking love it... i love seeing my kids open their presents!!

i'm not heartless though... we did the goat and chickens thing at work last year... we have done the Shoebox appeal every year for as long as i can remember and i *gift* Save The Children.... but i also want a christmas for me and my family to enjoy! and i feel no guilt about that all.. none

I didn't give the child a well yah eejit - as i said i feel compelled to participate in the whole bullshit for my daughter - the shoebox appeal i don't do unless it's locally based as most others send them of to countries that are non christian ...... almost as a bribe to joining in with the whole christianity idea........... anyhow i'll remember not to include you in my kill Santa revolution !!!

My favourite time of year for celebrating is halloween !

i've thought long and hard about the shoebox christian thingy and i've always just appeased myself with the thought that the bible or religious pamphlets they receive are used to make paper planes or burn stuff.. i live with the hope that the kids face is smiling and he couldnt give a fuck if a picture of jesus is staring at him.

I'm totally atheist but i believe in a higher power... and he is Santa!! :D

In regard to making children smile - I work with a childrens charity we set up here in Belfast for a few years now - maybe about 4/5 yrs and i am content that several smiles have been placed on childrens faces with work that's been done so i totally understand not caring about the bible bollox or pics of jesus and thinking solely of the wee ones.

I'll continue my killing Santa campaign alone ;)

Halloween is my favourite as it's just about having fun ! We have a tradition of travelling form party to party here as a few of us are nuts about halloween - then later in evening myself and friend have our own wee ceremony for the travelling souls which is always cool.

Ah I missed the frenzied debates around here :D Xmas I have to say I really enjoy it as it gets all my friends and family together, espicially the ones who live away....oh and xmas dinner is the best meal of the year :)

Please don't kill Santa just yet as I have strangely begun to get excited that he is going to be visiting our house for the first time this year

I do think that the money people spend is horrendous and every year we start saving from early in the year to make sure we get through xmas but we have been making concerted efforts to make it cheaper for everyone, and not wanting anyone to feel the compulsion to spend money on us.

Anyway.....had a fantastic birthday weekend and thank you all for your lovely wishes.....will tell you all about it later :D

Dunk....welcome back! (Dying to see the departed....any good??)

Couldn't believe how they gave Scholes the freedom of the penalty area for the first goal, he'd pulled up a deck chair before they reacted.... :o
