Leave people alone- there's your solution.

Many entities should heed that advice. Let's start with the Federal Govt.

Do you seriously think your country would fare well without the services provided by the federal government?

I think the Federal Government should provide the services that the Constitution authorizes it to and other services should be left up to the states to administer.
Got any examples? State vs. Fed services? Care to differentiate?

    Peace.
I think he means legal pot- letting states decide. In other words, since WA and CO have legalized it, the feds should stay out of it in those states. But since the constitution was probably written on hemp paper, well, then it should be legal in every state. Right?

Logic, my friends, good old fashioned logic. ;)

No. This is not the case.

It's a gross way to kill someone. I'm surprised they can find employees willing to pull the switch, or doctors willing to be present. I've seen a video of someone being killed in the electric chair, and it's fucking gruesome. It's not the criminal I'm worried about. It's the people who are alive and involved in killing the people or even there to witness it. No one should have anything to do with murdering another human being, and certainly not in this way.

I have no problem with the electric chair. Honestly, I rather see that used than lethal injection. I think lethal injection creates the illusion of clean, painless death. This penalty is not clean. At least with the chair we can all see the reality of what is happening. Paralyzing someone before poisoning them and pretending it is somehow more humane, in my opinion, is worse.

Lethal injection actually puts the person to sleep before anything else. It doesn't just paralyze them and they are still self-aware. The electric chair is way less humane if that is your concern. Now if you want people to really see someone suffer pain while dying, the electric chair is definitely the way to go.

I think there are conflicting opinions on what the condemned really feels while receiving a lethal injection. If they are truly put to sleep that is one thing. If they are chemically paralyzed that is something else.

Everything I've ever read says they are asleep; that's what the first injection is supposed to do..... where is the info suggesting they aren't asleep coming from?

A lot has been written on whether or not lethal injection is painless. Here is one article but there are others.

Okay, well when the job is botched or doctors are fucking up the doses, that's a whole other story.

It's nowhere near as gruesome as some of the crimes we read of. Not even close. No amount of 'fluff' will ever convince me that a person such as Ted Bundy, who died via the electric chair, deserved better.

As for the people that pull the switch... there are definitely some who have difficulty processing the ordeal, but I would think most feel they are providing a necessary service- much like lawyers who make up the defence team for the worst of what we have to offer.

If the witness is there for closure - I'd guess a relative or the like - and it gives them that, I'm for it without worries. Must take a lot of contemplation, courage perhaps (not to mention words I can't know from their side) to be there in those moments.
