What do you need *not* to sell your collection?
  • boyo79boyo79 Warrington, UK Posts: 6,525
Do what you need to do. At the end of the day, yeah its vinyl and it's great and it's Pearl Jam but its just another material thing. It's not essential to everyday life. If bills were stacking up for me and I needed to help my family out my Pearl Jam collection would get sold without hestiation.

I love my vinyl collection, but it has always been second to my poster collection which I don't think I could ever part with. If I were to sell my vinyl the funds would be used to buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend. It seems like the easiest way to save funds rather than getting a second job. I just feel that life is going by too fast and maybe my collection would find a better home than just collecting dust on my shelf. I don't know what the hell I want to do lol. Thanks for all the input everyone

    Nice gesture.

You should have no problem selling your albums here then.

You have a bunch of people anxiously waiting for you to price things and have probably have had a flood in your inbox asking for first crack at things.

    Good luck and congratulations!

That's an excellent reason to sell your vinyl. Marrying your best friend and spending the rest of your life together is more precious than vinyl.

I figure that if you don't LOVE your vinyl and get a lot of pleasure out of it (hopefully because you play it), then you may as well get rid of it, make some cash, and spend it on something that you DO love (yeah, like your GF/soon to be fiance! ;) ).

Damn that's a good reason to sell the vinyl. I've been holding off on an engagement ring for $ reasons. Food for thought.

Good luck, depending on what you have you could probably get
    $80-100 for Ten first press
    $30-40 for Vs first press
    $30-40 for Vitalogy first press
$90-120 for No Code, Yield, and Live on Two Legs
$150-175 for Binaural and Riot Act
    $175-200 for RVM and S/T
    $700+ for Benny
$120-150 for PJ20 ($700-800 for Colored PJ20 or more for the glow in the dark promo)
$100 for Live on Ten Legs
$150-200 for White Backspacer and Red Lightning Bolt
$175-200 for Into the Wild first press
    $100 for Ukulele Songs

ok, I know I'll probably take heat for this post, but no one else has offer their opinions on it yet other than to figure it our yourself or to sell them at their original costs. If anyone has pricing feedback I am happy to hear it because these are just my best guesses. Good luck!

WOW, let me know if you sell YOUR vinyl, because some of those prices are closer to half the norm! ;)
Don't worry, my prices will be much higher, the prices I indicated are 10c board friendly and a good deal for the buyer and seller. I plan on getting the most out of my vinyl if it hits the market.

Wedding rings are a scam. If she loves you, marrying into a Pearl Jam record collection should be good enough. Get a prenuptial agreement though.

If I had tried that with my wife I would still be single today, and she doesn't care that much about Jewelry. Some advice from a guy married for 15 years, make sure she loves the ring. If not you will be hearing about it until your death bed.

I think the only way I'd sell my PJ vinyl collection is to fund the purchase of a vintage Gibson Les Paul.

    Congrats on the engagement OP!

Yeah, the ring my lady wants is going to cost me at least twice the value of my PJ collection, but there is no way I'd sell this one short!

Thanks for all the help and warm wishes everyone!! I have received a few requests in my inbox that I have not replied to, is it common to give them a heads up or should I just post the collection? Sorry I have never sold anything on the board before.

Up to you - just make sure that you include set prices with whatever you do post, as per 10C rules. :)

Post it on here first. That is how it's supposed to be done.

Can't wait to see what you've got!

Did you decide to sell No Code or Yield? I'd love to purchase from you. I am in the late stages of collecting everything on vinyl. When we buy a house, my goal is to frame my PJ Vinyl.

No Code and Yield would put a nice dent into completing my collection.

    Thanks!

    Nick

No Code, opened never played vg $150
Yield, opened never played, glue is coming undone at the top, no sticker insert $125
Riot Act, opened never played, book is mint, major crease in the upper right corner of packaging, sleeves coming apart $200(pending)
Self Titled, Sealed, packaging plastic split at the seem for about 3 inches due to the book being so large $350
    PJ20 Sealed $150(SOLD)
Coke bottle 10 (Newbury edition) Sealed $150

Hopefully they find a new home, having trouble selling them but funds will be used to purchase an engagement ring for my girlfriend.
    Thanks for looking

Rough night tonight. I was coming home to keg my homebrew, and there was my Riot Act LP there. What to do? Spin it, or Keg it? Only one answer right! Both!!!

I'm having a really good day!

    Thanks man. This kicks ass.

  • I am in disbelief at the $$$ PJ vinyl fetches these days!!! I hope you hit your target (or at least get close!!!) for that ring!! Congrats on the big decision!
I am fortunate to have bought the vast majority upon release but am disappointed that I probably don't have the pocketbook to fill in the last studio album (Binaural) needed to round out the collection. Proud to report that all of them get regular spins on the turntable...viva la vinyl!!
