Thinking of parting ways with my vinyl UPDATE...VINYL AND PRICES, VINYL ALL SOLD

edited June 2014 in Lost Dogs
Can anyone point me in the right direction with vinyl pricing. I don't want to be accused of starting an auction, but I don't know what the going rate is these days. I'm having a hard time even writing this post, never thought I would contemplate selling them but life happens. thanks for the help,

Sorry for keeping some people waiting. I am going to sell most of my vinyl, some have been opened but have never been played, the rest are still sealed. Prices include shipping to the continental US via priority usps mail. Pictures upon request. I will respond to pm's in the order in which I have received them. I will try and get back to people as soon as possible.

No Code, opened never played vg $125(SOLD)
Yield, opened never played, glue is coming undone at the top, no sticker insert $100(SOLD)
Riot Act, opened never played, book is mint, major crease in the upper right corner of packaging, sleeves coming apart $200(SOLD)
Self Titled, Sealed, packaging plastic split at the seem for about 3 inches due to the book being so large $350(SOLD)
PJ20 Sealed $150(SOLD)
Coke bottle 10 (Newbury edition) Sealed $150(SOLD)

Hopefully they find a new home, having trouble selling them but funds will be used to purchase an engagement ring for my girlfriend.
Thanks for looking

Go to ebay and type in that record then click the "sold listings" on the left.

That would represent the current inflated vinyl prices of today.

PS, don't do it... Keep your vinyl.

popsike.com is good to view historical ebay auctions as they become historical on ebay.

Thanks for the suggestions, tried checking discogs and popsike as per suggestions real quick at lunch. Haven't figured out what I want for prices yet or If I will sell yet just trying to figure out the market. Not looking for offers or would have went to the bay or other places for that game.

Everyone's situation is different, but I think if you are not sure, then perhaps you should hold on to them until you are. It's a big decision, and while I have benefited from other people's decisions to sell their collection (and am EXTREMELY appreciative), it would suck if that decision was made too quickly.

I've thought about that. I think there's a decent chance that a) the reissues sound worse and b) the originals still retain value.

Good luck, depending on what you have you could probably get
    $80-100 for Ten first press
    $30-40 for Vs first press
    $30-40 for Vitalogy first press
$90-120 for No Code, Yield, and Live on Two Legs
$150-175 for Binaural and Riot Act
    $175-200 for RVM and S/T
    $700+ for Benny
$120-150 for PJ20 ($700-800 for Colored PJ20 or more for the glow in the dark promo)
$100 for Live on Ten Legs
$150-200 for White Backspacer and Red Lightning Bolt
$175-200 for Into the Wild first press
    $100 for Ukulele Songs

ok, I know I'll probably take heat for this post, but no one else has offer their opinions on it yet other than to figure it our yourself or to sell them at their original costs. If anyone has pricing feedback I am happy to hear it because these are just my best guesses. Good luck!

No Code, Yield, and LO2L is closer to $160-$180.

And RVM and Avocado aren't less than $225-$250.

    Benny is north of $800-$900.

Man, that is depressing if you're trying to compile a collection of first pressings. :-S

And that doesn't even include sealed copies.

Man at those prices I can't wait till the reissues come out. I just want to listen to these albums on vinyl. I was late to the game as well. I agree with others on this, if your on the fence hold on to them. Unless of course you don't play them. If you don't play them, sell 'em.

Here is where I would put the prices as of today as being sold on the bay:

$80-100 for Ten first press (Lately this has been the price. Sealed is 130)
$30-40 for Vs first press (If sealed, price is around 60, otherwise dead on)
$30-40 for Vitalogy first press (Spot On)
$90-120 for No Code, Yield, and Live on Two Legs (these are way low).
    No Code - $150 opened, 200+ sealed
Yield - $160 Opened with inserts, 200+ sealed)
    LO2L - $150 opened, 175 - 200 sealed

$150-175 for Binaural and Riot Act (Way low, both are at or over $250 for VG)
$175-200 for RVM and S/T (Both Low. 350 on each)
$700+ for Benny (Two sold last in the last week for 900. Sealed is at 1500)
$120-150 for PJ20 ($700-800 for Colored PJ20 or more for the glow in the dark promo) - Dead On
$100 for Live on Ten Legs (Wayyyyyy high. 40 sealed right now. Some poor schlup has had one listed sealed for 48 buy it now with 18 shipping and it has gone by 3 or 4 times with no takers)
$150-200 for White Backspacer and Red Lightning Bolt - Dead On
$175-200 for Into the Wild first press - Havent seen one on the bay for awhile. I have no idea
$100 for Ukulele Songs - Dead on if sealed. Otherwise $75

If you are patient and watch the bay there are still some decent deals. They are getting harder to find as prices keep going up which has drawn out flippers. That and people are generally stupid. I saw a simple PJ20 (not colored) with a bid of 175 while there were 2 buy it now's for same grade (Mint Sealed) for 150 available.

    I paid the following:
$250.00 for a mint opened Avacodo 3 weeks ago
$181.00 for a sealed mint No Code 5 weeks ago
$61.00 for a sealed mint Vs. 5 weeks ago

Unless you are in dire need, keep your vinyl. I bought No Code and Vs on vinyl when they first came out for around $12.00 each and sold them. I regretted it big time and paid the pied piper when I had to buy them again.

Imagine no possessions... it isn't hard to do.

These folks are all right. Sell your kids, your car, your pet and your house... but dear JEEBUS... NOT THE VINYL!

I'm that guy; throwin a different spin on things. If the guy needs to gain cash quickly and he sees his commodities sitting there when prices are high... SELL! YOU ALWAYS SELL HIGH!!! SELL THAT VINYL! SELL HIGH! BUY LOW! That's money sense. Rant is overrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Goodluck to you. Don't let materials or peer pressure make your decisions for you. You do what is RIGHT for YOU. PEACE!
