  • awesome story Shmitty... thanks for sharing it! Please tell your daughter I think she rules massively :)

People just don't understand how great the men in this band are (present company excepted, of course!!). At a Key Arena show a few years ago, Mike smashed one of his guitars at some point and I didn't notice what became of it afterwards. And then when I was floating out of the arena after the show, there was a guy in a wheelchair with the guitar on his lap and the biggest grin on his face. All his friends were whooping around him and the rest of us were saying things like 'good job buddy' and clapping his back and checking out the guitar and stuff. It was just a magic thing, how much positive energy that one act of PJ awesomeness created! Nice to be reminded of it tonight :)

unreal - the best show i have EVER seen!

we were 3rd row dead center in front of eddie! my daughter was in her pj shirt from the last tour.

the show went for 2 and 1/2 hours - my daughter stood on her chair the whole time and made eye contact with ed many a time - she knew every song and was singing along.

vedder threw a towel in the crowd, pointed and said it is for the little girl.
somehow it never made it to her - vedder saw that.

after you've got hide your love away - he looked right at me and my daughter and threw his pick with perfect accuracy right at her feet - she is the prowd owner of a ev gtar pick.

during baba, he smashed up 2 tambourines - stood at the edge of the stage -pointed with authority and seriousness and said "this is for the little girl!" he
tossed it - the guy next to my daughter caught it and handed it right to her -she was in heaven! she said - "it has eddie's hair on it!" the entire sold out united center looked right at us - i smiled at ed and mouthed a huge thank you.

finally during ledbetter as mike was soloing at the end, ed sat down and scanned the crowd waving goodbye - he got to my dauughter, stopped - flashed a hang loose sign which she promptly returned - smiled back at her and then it was over.

i cannot express the night i shared with my daughter - she was by far the
youngest in the venue and the only kid on the floor - everyone around us was so cool - they would look at her singing, bouncing on her chair, clapping and smiling so large that it made everyone smile!

pearl jam concert with your 9-year old daughter / third row center at united center... priceless!

Thanks 10C, my fellow long-time 10C members and most of all EV for making last night so amazing!

see you all tonight back at the UC - second row - Stone's side!

I am so happy for her, and you. Truly special.

I was a row behind you, to your left, and I can confirm that after becoming the proud owner of Eddie's tamborine that your daughter had the biggest smile in the entire place!

It was a very cool moment, even for the people around you.

  • I think it is really great you guys are able to bring your kids to this and they like it. I don't have kids, but I imagine it must be really cool. I am jealous. SPREAD THE JAM!!!

    That is awesome!!!

I will be sharing PJ with my daughter for the first time (she's turning 13) in Cleveland this weekend.....she's been waiting, and waiting for me to take her!! I finally decided it was time for her to see the greatest live band ever! :)

Congratulations on the seats and the tambourine...you'll have to put it in a shadow box or something, lol, and hang it in her room! ;)

    Thanks for the story!

I've been given hell by my 11 year old daughter for not taking her to the Astoria gig. It is even worse now because she knows I will be going to Dublin and Antwerp. I'd love to take her but these two shows are GA (no seating) and I have 10C floor tix - hoping to get close to the front. Maybe I'm being a paranoid mother, but I still don't think that it would be safe for her (and she would need to be on shoulders throughout the concert or she woudn't see a thing!). Some venues also have age restrictions.
  • Great story!! Glad to hear you and your daughter had a great time.

How wonderful for your daughter! My son's first concert ever was PJ when he was 13 and we had great seats from 10C. Attending PJ shows should be a requirement for every child!

Tim, Can you WILL TenClub membership tickets ??? For some of us (the ones who bought TEN on DAY ONE) it's a valid concern.

  • Thank you for sharing your awesome experience... It made me cry!!! I have a 5 year old daughter, and she looooves Pearl Jam.. She crys when we talk about the show, because she wants to go.. And I always tell her that next tour she will be old enough.
And Ed is so great... I met him after a benefit show last year, and you could just tell that he is a kind hearted person.
Ahh.. I cant wait to see them again...
