Best news we could get! So happy they aren't playing Lolla. Hopefully this means some fall midwest dates!

Gives hope for a late summer / early fall tour again, would much rather see a PJ only show in Chicago

Happy to hear they aren't playing Lolla. Now it's time for a midwest tour.

On a side note...that Lolla lineup is pretty terrible.

Lolla is awful this year overall. If they announce a fall tour, I wouldn't expect to hear anything until at least May.

Other than festivals, the US announcements are usually no earlier than 12 weeks out from first show. If a small midwest/south tour started in early September, we wouldnt get word before June.

Yeah, terrible Lolla line-up. Not a fan of any of those bands. So glad PJ passed on Lolla. Bring on the Midwest dates.

on one hand im actually glad PJ is not playing lolla cause like most others id much rather see a midwest tour, but on the other hand, this is one of the worst lolla lineups ive seen. i thought i was one of the "luckier" ones yesterday when i was able to get 3 day passes. im not sure if i feel that way anymore
oh well, cant win them all. at least im gonna go to the hangout festival which i feel has a better lineup than lolla, and ill be sitting on the beach for 3 days watching some good bands play

The headliners arent that great but the rest of the lineup is amazing. Hopefully ACL booked the same smaller bands and bring in different headliners like they usually do.

I don't have sources, but from reading the Lolla board there were more than a few people saying PJ was in negotiations as far back as last year to play Lolla '14.

It seems weird for Eminem to come back so soon. I think they were trying hard for Kanye (he's playing Fuji Rock this year, in 2013 a couple of the headliners overlapped with Lolla).

2003 - June 15 Fargo
2005 - Sept 1 George, Sept 8 Winnipeg

2007 - Aug 2/5 Chicago
2008 - June 22 Washington, June 24/25 New York
2009 - Aug 21 Toronto, Aug 23/24 Chicago, Sept 21/22 Seattle, Oct 27/28/30/31 Philadelphia
2010 - May 15 Hartford, May 17 Boston, Oct 23/24 Mountain View

It is very likely that they planned to play and decided against it for one reason or another. This band has been known to tentatively plan shows/tours and then change or cancel those plans. It wouldn't surprise me at all if that is what happened here.

Looks like a bunch of crap minus Broken Bells, Trombone Shorty and good old Glen Hansard.

So what's the flippability ratio of a Lollapalooza single day ticket? :)

Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?

As someone who normally flies to lolla every year to go.. I gotta say... where are the headliners? 3C really mailed it in on this one huh?

What kills me, is that somehow, even with the names on the top bill, this festival still sold out in record time.... so confusing... guess 3C knows more about concerts than I do.. I would have thought that lineup would cause weak sales... guess it's only served to reinforce 3C's lazy business habits as of late...

I gotta thank them though for ditching me as a loyal customer tho.... last 3 years running I've gone... couldn't get any 3-day passes yesterday.... was so incredibly pissed off for half the day... and thank god I didn't, that's a $2k worth of hassle I don't have to deal with reselling....

Hotel's cancelled, trying to rebook flights...

And still reeling from seeing Tool from the 2nd row last night... now there's a band 3C should be falling all over themselves to be booking to shows like lolla....

anyway, what a real let down from lolla. thankful pearl jam's not playing - makes the decision to skip going and the difficulty with not being able to buy tickets that much easier to stomach...
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

Now I will say, for hip-hop it doesn't get much better than Outkast. They are truly icons of their craft and made some enjoyable albums....for headphones, not rock festivals.

Andre 3000 from Outkast plays lots of instruments. He even learned Jimi Hendrix's guitar style for the upcoming biopic.

Zac Brown Band just announced a show for Fenway last week. Unless Fenway plans on hosting more than 2 shows this summer, we can put the PJ plans to bed for this year.

Lame!! Fenway has to happen sometime...WTF is Zach Brown Band anyway?

I don't think the lineup is as bad as some people are saying. I too thought Pearl Jam might be on it, and probably would have tried to go, but this lineup is skewing younger. The lineup is not BAD, it just doesn't necessarily appeal to some people on here. Eminem is huge - I would love to see him, but not enough to make the trek to Lolla. Skrillex is also young and big right now, as is Lorde. I saw Skrillex at Lolla last year when he was there in his side project Dogblood, and that pulled in a very large (and pretty insane) crowd. There are a lot of people who would like to see Outkast. Sounds like a savvy business decision of Lolla management to bring artists that will bring younger show goers in - it will help ensure the longevity of the festival.

Maybe PJ will do some touring in the US in the late summer and/or fall.
