I mean the same districts overwhelmingly voted for Larry Krasner. I think public safety was/is generally at the top of everyone's minds, is my point.0

I'm with Cliffy - the people suffering the most from the gun scourge should have the most say, and that's how it worked out.Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

I guess? I don't see that being the narrative, but to each their own.
What I see is 8% of the City's electorate - and in no way a majority of voters at the polls - decided the mayor of the 6th largest city in the country. That's pathetic.0 -

I saw some R's in the State House (PA) are proposing primary runoffs, which I hate. This makes voters have to show up 2, 3 times just for the primaries. Apparently this is because the party wants to get rid of the Mastriano types.
So there's some motivation on both sides of the aisle, which is what it'll take - motivation from within the major parties to change state law. But more often than not shove a bunch of Dems in enough to keep it competitive and there's a more realistic change of happening. Which btw congrats to Heather Boyd in Delco to keep the House majority.
I like RCV then Approval voting, though I feel like approval voting would be easier to pass.0 -
Re: primary runoffs, well I'm an election worker and I really hate the idea of working more elections. Ranked choice does the job of a runoff election all in one fell swoop. (no idea if I wrote that expression out correctly) Republicans lost some high profile ranked-choice votes (Maine and Alaska, not sure anywhere else) so I think the well must be poisoned for them but I imagine they blew some opportunities (especially in Georgia) where it might've helped them.
I had nothing to do with Heather Boyd's victory but glad it happened. (I heard that 50,000 doors were knocked in that race - 5x the number of votes the winner got. I knocked on literally 24 doors for Havertown races instead.) Mike Zabel used to represent part of Haverford but they moved the lines and he didn't anymore. But yeah, everyone showed up wanting to vote in the special election. I was fortunate to have the knowledge to effectively explain why they couldn't vote in it. Hopefully Mike Zabel and his family and the victims of his actions can all move forwards and live happily ever after (outside of politics for Mr. Zabel, of course).
Please get friends & family to vote in November for the State Supreme Court election.
Phillies and Union are really suffering from this age-old runners-up curse. you would think so... alas ;neutral: Shwarber sucks i'm sorry. He's kinda like Dave Kingman/Gorman Thomas. Hits a lot of homeruns but also low batting avg. and strikes out a ton.

What the hell happened with that “pitch clock violation” on Kimbrel where the clock never got anywhere near zero?

How'd everyone like those ESPN announcers' 3-hours celebration of the Great Atlanta Braves? I mean you'd have thought they had swept the series and hadn't lost a game all year, let alone got crushed by the Phillies in last year's playoffs - not mentioned once the whole game. And could that stadium be any more racist with "chop" references all over the place and literally built into the lights? Right in the part of the country where Andrew Jackson genocided the southern tribes. What a gross display. That franchise is pretty damn close to Cowboys level for me.Post edited by Johnny Abruzzo onSpectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

Holy shit this team isn't as good as we thought we would be. Pitching is pretty bad, hitting is ok. Schwarber sucks ass! Bohm on the IL. Turner isn't living up to the hype. Only bright spots are Harper, Bohm, Castellanos, Stott (?) and once in awhile Wheeler.

Not great! But at the same time, that run last year I think gave a lot of people amnesia with how much they sucked most of last season.
Basically on Sunday they had the same record as they did the past two seasons. Losing Bohm right now is a gigantic hole though, they're really grasping at straws now especially with the pitching being as bad as it's been. It's not 'Sky is Falling Bad' right now, but it ain't great! But I still put their playoff chances at a coin flip, which is fine with me. Baseball surely isn't what it used to be, all you have to be is mediocre most of the season and still have a shot. They have to go something like 62-45 the rest of the way to be in realistic shot of the playoffs. I think that's still doable, granted they do have to actually win some games at some point here.0
