Mine too. And it's one of the few album songs that I haven't seen yet. I used to love 2000 tour bootlegs that opened with that. Mike's leading playing on that live is killer when compared to the record.Johnny Abruzzo said:I basically skip Buckle Up. I'm sure I'm far from alone. Come Back is a great song. I'm fine with the slow start, especially if they play Of The Girl - one of my long-time faves.
Again, I have nothing against many of these songs. I'm not into Buckle Up or Come Back myself (Thumbing My Way and Come Back led me to joke about how I love Pearl Jam, but I'm not that into Pearl Adult Contemporary), but they're not terrible songs or anything. But at a concert, they're just kind of deflating. Especially as the second song of the set.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. I am fine with the slow start sitdown IF it means playing a regularly scheduled overall set god damnit. Otherwise, we just get going and then comes the bucket of ice water on our crotches.
25 songs, MINIMUM, on Wednesday. Ya hear me out there, you sonsabitches?!
If they're going with 6 to start then off the top of my head I'd prefer: Around the Bend, Thin Air, All Those Yesterdays, Elderly Woman (get the singalong outta the way during the campfire part), All or None, annnnd Dirty Frank.0 -
PRAISE THE LORD. So we get Franzke on tv for a whole series? And they're putting McCarthy's clone of a son on the radio too, instead of tv like they did last year? Finally.Ledbetterman10 said:Here, Juggler. Something that's right up your ally....

I am telling you guys, I know the Phils have been not very good the last ten years or so and they've been a tough watch, but McCarthy made them so much less tolerable during those times for me. And now that they're good, he still takes away the enjoyment for me.
The Phils have not been good for most of our lives (except for the 2000's) but they were so much more tolerable then because of HK. In baseball, more so than any other sport your main announcer means so much. He's a huge part of the identity of the team. And we've suffered with this enormous douche getting even more airtime per game than HK ever got for 13 years now. Ugh.
Hopefully Tmac gets some national offer he cant refuse in the near future, and this becomes full time. I can see Franske and Kruk having good chemistry.www.myspace.com0 -
I think I read that Franzke doesn't really want tv? Hoping that's not the case tho. This is pretty great.
Also, Tmac is surprisingly good at football and basketball. I just don't want him calling Phillies games.0 -
Those sports are enhanced by a lot of talking from the announcer. Basketball is constant action and football requires some sort of diagnosis of every play. Baseball is the opposite - sometimes just let us watch the damn game and shut the hell up for 10 seconds.Jearlpam0925 said:I think I read that Franzke doesn't really want tv? Also what happened to the: Happy 50th Anniversary to Joe and Liz Schmoe in Drexel Hill and all that stuff? The broadcast used to be homey - now it's just corporate.Post edited by Johnny Abruzzo onSpectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

I also hate how he always gives his opinion on things as if he's the color analyst. Call the play then shut the hell up.www.myspace.com0 -
His worst attribute is his zeal and excitement for when the other team hits a homer and/or wins. It's very odd.0

As much as I am happy for him to be gone for a couple weekends this month....fuck him for doing so. The team is in a playoff chase. Beat it, Tom. Go take a national gig full time.www.myspace.com0

I would love to hear Of the Girl!. Probably in the top spot on my bucket-list.

It's wild how that song has somehow become a rarity or something. They used to open up shows pretty regularly with it.The Juggler said:Actually, they opened with Of The Girl at the Sony Blockbuster Entertainment Center 22 years and 1 week ago from today.
