It really sucks that still many 24 Bit Albums sold @ the Pono Store are exclusive to USA & not available in Canada for purchasing. But, albums sold over @ HDTracks are available in Canada.

I wanna purchase the new Death Cab For Cutie Kintsugi album.

Pono Store .. https://ponomusic.force.com/ccrz__CCPage?pageKey=product&oId=of:baea68f507984c7fa13d201b893a7d28&type=Album . NOT IN TERRITORY

    HDTracks .. http://www.hdtracks.com/kintsugi AVAILABLE

It's really hard to support Pono when their music service is not letting me purchase much music from their company.

"The only difference between 16bit and 24bit is 48dB of dynamic range (8bits x 6dB = 48dB) and nothing else. This is not a question for interpretation or opinion, it is the provable, undisputed logical mathematics which underpins the very existence of digital audio.

So, can you actually hear any benefits of the larger (48dB) dynamic range offered by 24bit? Unfortunately, no you can't. The entire dynamic range of some types of music is sometimes less than 12dB."

Do you get emails from Pono Music? Reminder - Action Required: PonoMusic World Update Version 20.0.133. Download their latest software? Well .. Don't do it!!

Windows 10 & Norton were acting crazy with this new updated. It wanted me to open ports to an IP address I don't know of theirs to get access to my PC. Hell no.

That's crazy. I think it's hard enough to get people to embrace the technology without adding in their failure to keep the thing running right.

I hardly use the PonoMusic World software anyway. I add my 24Bit Flacs just by copying & pasting the albums via USB 3.0. The software kept things organized. But this new update, I just deleted it completely.

Why not? I can't imagine that is the Pono's fault, lol.

Not Pono's fault. I originally bought it to play in my car. Then I bought a new car that can play music off of USB sticks.

So I bought a 256 GB stick and never used my Pono.

And let's face it, if you take a flac file and compress it to a 320 MP3 and hit shuffle, how many people really could tell the difference.

    I'm guessing not many.

Sounds a tad too high maintenance for $400 music player. Can't see this thing lasting.

You are right. The biggest advantage of FLAC vs MP3 is maintaining a backup of a music file that is true to the original source. A well encoded first generation mp3 at 320 is impossible to tell apart from a flac file for most people.

Neil should have learned from his "Trans" album from the 80's to leave the digital age alone lol

I didnt have any issues installing the update. Weird. I still love my Pono. Just bought a 128gb card for it. The new Revealer function illustrates the differences between tracks. I had my daughter change the tracks between mp3 and 24/192 and I could tell which was which. I had a harder time with the in-the-middle types
I know I was born and I know that I'll die. The in between is mine.

A Norton window kept popping up. Asking me to let this IP address from Pono to access my PC. I kept saying no, but the window kept coming back.

First I thought hmm .. think Pono has added a new option to the new PonoMusic World App where my PC can be used as a connection hub for others to download from me the files I've purchased from the Pono Store. Like a torrent. So if my PC / Pono Music app is on where my audio files are saved on the hard drive, folks who purchase from Pono Music could use my PC's bandwidth when downloading. So you're not just using the Pono Music Store bandwidth to download those 3 plus gigs files from, but also using my internet connection & many others. Only those who have purchased the files from the Pono Store. That's what I thought at first. I might be wrong. But still it was very weird. I've been using Norton since '99 and I've never had this problem installing an update, for a music software.

Also, PONO shit is expensive as hell. $18 for pearl jams VS. album???

Reminds me of the days of getting fucked over at Sam Goody's when having to decide over which Guns and Roses "Use Your Illusion" album I was going to buy because they were selling them for $18 fucking dollars each. I can go on Amazon and get a high quality CD version of both Use Your Illusion albums for less then two dollars right now.
