Interesting reading how you all access & digest your Pearl Jam.

no way that pj peaked, lyrically, in 2000. Lightning bolt has some of the BEST lyrics Eddie has ever written.

Sorry, have to disagree... Lyrics like Light Years, Sleight of Hand, Parting Ways - just to name a few, are not to be found on LB. I think Sirens have good lyrics, I even see where he was heading with My Fathers Son, and I think that Pendulum has some depth. But the same depth and poetry of for example Sleight of Hand or Light Years? No.

    My two cents...

    Lightning Bolt > Binaural

Binaural, while good... In fact better than other bands' best albums... Is my least favorite PJ collection...

Even though I like and enjoy LB. Its even in my top 5. I think that still lyrically and poetically Binaural is on a different plane. Even though the lyrics of Sirens are good, I think that second verse (driven to another man) is clunky at best. Pendulum, while good, have some serious cliche's. And Yellow Moon has a nice flow, but the bridge in the end, regarding the bullits, seems lyrically seperate from the rest of the song. I will probably be flamed for this. But I just look at these songs from a lyrical and poetical point of view. The lyrics on Binuaral on a whole had more cohesion.

Are you comparing these two? Because LB does not have the staying power that Binaural had. Not even a close comparison really.

I am of the completely opposite opinion
I know I was born and I know that I'll die. The in between is mine.

And that is the reason why we love Pearl Jam; each album has a different flavour also causing a very diverse fanbase - which I welcome btw. In this case only time will tell, I guess.

I think it is still too early to compare LB to pretty much any earlier album. Binaural still has tracks I skip every time. Same with LB.

What I have always found funny about Binaural is they had all the B sides that were better than tracks that made the album.

    Great point.
