I could understand it if it was over six inches .... but this was what we Northmen consider a dusting. Please I thought 75% of the autos in Georgia were 4x4 trucks.

of that 75%, 42% are actually a truck boat truck like this fine example right here...

    hilarious & true

it sure isn't -42 degrees in atlanta or it? that's about the coldest i remember running around in. chilly bastard

In reality, a small bit of snow on roads that aren't treated and can't be treated due to lack of equipment and supplies, really does make driving treacherous. Add that to temperatures which may warm enough at some points to cause some melting and then drop back down to freeze which makes it more slippery as well.

The roads are only more dangerous if the most simple of precautions are not taken. As a proven warrior of snowy highways and roads- tried and tested in Canada for decades now: drive slower.

The sign says 80 (km). Don't go 80. Go 50. Downhill? Go 30-40.

What's the problem though? Once again... stoooooopid people. Duuuuuuumb people. Even up here- with opportunities for so much practice- some moron will go and bugger things up for others that are navigating a safe journey.

fact... drive slow & keep away from others. keep a very nice buffer zone between you & all traffic. slow & steady. hammer the brakes? yeppers a wonderful plan when on a snow covered/icy roadway.

ppl in big cities have almost zero chance as 99% of them are asshole to elbow on one another's bumper. pretty bizarre driving behavior considering the road surface is slippery as a monkey or toad's turd... wait, maybe a whale's turd

imagine being a truck driver moving along w/ 18 wheelers (or more) w/ 80,000 pounds (or more) through blizzards
white knuckle mountain passes. blizzard conditions w/ lightning aiming down the mountain. even good drivers have fuck ups.
i suggest everyone getting their CDL class A license & aim for winter madness.

chain your fucking truck up says the highway patrol. good luck

From what I've heard, Indy and fort wayne schools will be in session until July. I lived in nw Indiana for 18 years and can't remember ever missing school because of the cold. I've felt my share of -20 and -30 but not for that long. I glad I'm in the south.

Back in the mid-80's I remember a few winters in Indiana where the we missed this amount of school due to snow. Speaking as a child of the 80's, it was awesome. Now that I have to pay bills, it sucks big time.

I went to high school in Indiana in the 80's too. I remember missing a couple days due to the wind chill, but since we didn't have buses, they wouldn't close school due to snow. All the schools around us would close, though. I remember listening in the mornings to the closures on the radio, and our school district always being left off the list. We would throw quite a pity party for ourselves.

Bastards .... The mayor and governor of "hot-lanta" didn't save tax payer money to combat 2 inches of snow. Thank God for Chipper Jones!
