First Ever Concert & Festival You Went To.

First concert I went to was probably Elton John while I was still living in Montreal. I was too young to remember and I don't think I was actually that interested in music at the time.
First festival I went to was the 2nd night of the Virgin Festival at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto on August 30, 2009. It was supposed to be at a Burl's Creek Park in Orillia, but it got moved to Toronto due to slow ticket sales and complaints from fans. I didn't buy a ticket back then because it was too far but when they moved to Toronto, I was able to go. I only really cared about Nine Inch Nails that day (their last Toronto show until their Tension Tour this Fall), though I did enjoy Our Lady Peace, Pet Shop Boys and N.E.R.D (only band there that I saw once before as they opened for Kanye West in 2008, which I did attend). I did reserved seats as the 100L (GA Floor) was already filled-up. It was actually quite cold that day and I was wearing a hoodie because of it. It was also only the 2nd show I attended at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre where it ended at 11:30 PM. The other one was Kanye West in 2008. There is a 11:00 PM curfew so bands had to finish early as a result. Most recently, this July, Bruno Mars had to finish his 2nd Toronto show after 11:30 PM because he was supposed to take the stage at 9:15 PM, but took the stage over an hour later due to the pit (100L) being flooded. While waiting, Bruno Mars actually apologized on Twitter about this. I wasn't at the show, but I heard about it.
Back to the main topic: the first real open field festival I attended was the Orion Music and More at Belle Isle in Detroit this Summer, where Metallica (creators) and Red Hot Chili Peppers co-headlined the festival.0 -

First concert I ever attended WAS a festival:
107.7 The End's Endfest 1997
Lineup -
Main Stage: The Offspring, Foo Fighters, Radiohead, Candlebox, Super Deluxe, Brad, Matchbox 20, Voodoo Glow Skulls.
Second Stage: Folk Implosion, The Dandy Warhols, Buck-O-Nine, The Cunninghams, Me First and the Gimmee Gimmees.
Electronic Stage: Sky Cries Mary, GusGus, Lamb, Cirrus, The Crystal Method, Lion Rock, BT.
It's amazing to see the collection of artists that played that day for a RADIO STATION festival. Granted, at that time, The End was one of the premier alt stations in the nation. Still it's a crazy lineup.
Interesting note about this show - Radiohead played a 4 song set and swore off performing at ANY radio station festivals afterwards due to the delays caused from the set changes of the bands preceding them.Post edited by thebrig on0 -

First Concert: Pink Floyd (Division Bell tour. It was awesome)
First festival: Another Roadside Attraction 1995 (Tragically Hip headlined of course, also featured Ziggy Marley, Spirit of the West, Blues Traveller, Rheostatics, Matthew Sweet, I think some others. It wasn't a stellar line up to say the least, aside from the Trag...and it's hard to remember it all, as it was also the first time I ever did shrooms. I ended up freaking out and hiding in a fucking porta-potty for at least one full set.)
