First concert I ever attended WAS a festival: 107.7 The End's Endfest 1997 Lineup - Main Stage: The Offspring, Foo Fighters, Radiohead, Candlebox, Super Deluxe, Brad, Matchbox 20, Voodoo Glow Skulls. Second Stage: Folk Implosion, The Dandy Warhols, Buck-O-Nine, The Cunninghams, Me First and the Gimmee Gimmees. Electronic Stage: Sky Cries Mary, GusGus, Lamb, Cirrus, The Crystal Method, Lion Rock, BT.
It's amazing to see the collection of artists that played that day for a RADIO STATION festival. Granted, at that time, The End was one of the premier alt stations in the nation. Still it's a crazy lineup.
Interesting note about this show - Radiohead played a 4 song set and swore off performing at ANY radio station festivals afterwards due to the delays caused from the set changes of the bands preceding them.

that's a pretty cool line up for a festival back then.
First Concert: Pink Floyd (Division Bell tour. It was awesome)
First festival: Another Roadside Attraction 1995 (Tragically Hip headlined of course, also featured Ziggy Marley, Spirit of the West, Blues Traveller, Rheostatics, Matthew Sweet, I think some others. It wasn't a stellar line up to say the least, aside from the Trag...and it's hard to remember it all, as it was also the first time I ever did shrooms. I ended up freaking out and hiding in a fucking porta-potty for at least one full set. )

First concert: Warrant...do you remember Cherry Pie? in 1991.
First Festival: Big Day Out Sydney 1997- Sound Garden, Powderfinger, You am I, The Offspring, Spiderbait, Rage Against the Machine, Prodigy, Porno for Pyros.
First concert: H.O.R.D.E tour 1995 (Ziggy Marley, Blues Traveler, Black Crowes) First Festival: H.O.R.D.E was multiple bands, so festival esque. Also hit up Lollapalooza in 2003 (Janes, Audioslave, Incubus, QOTSA, Jurassic 5). However, if we are talking about a major multiple day event it was Bonnaroo 2006.

Quebec: May 5. Boston (Fenway): August 7
First concert was Incubus with Hoobastank opening at The Spectrum in '02 during their Morning View tour right before I graduated 8th grade. Awesome show and I have seen incubus a few times since... Great live band.
First festival was the Virgin Music Fest at Pimlico In Baltimore in '07. Crazy good lineup with an unknown Matisyahu who blew everyone away early in the day, Modest Mouse, Incubus, 311, Ben Harper, The Fratellis, LCD Soundsystem, TV on the Radio, Spoon, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol, Velvet Revolver and Wu Tang who all set up for the two nights of headliners. Smashing Pumpkins, Beastie Boys, and the mother effing Police.
This festival turned me onto a ton of different bands and material I otherwise would have never gotten into so that's why I love festivals. Good crowd, good weather, and killer performances.
First festival was Milton Keynes Bowl in 1985. U2 and Billy Bragg played. I was at a language course trip with my friends in London and we read about the festival and went there. I thought it was huge, being 15, but we had fun.
Kool Kat Club 1992, Moderna museet 1992, Globen 2012, Friends arena 2014
The 1st concert I tell people about was Ozzy at the Seattle Coliseum, soon after Randy Rhoads was killed. My 1st real concert was The Bee Gees, doing all their Saturday Night Fever stuff.
1st Festival type show was Monsters of Rock, in the Kingdome. I missed Metallica because I was still at work. Never had the chance to see them since.
2006: Gorge 1
2009: Seattle 1
2013: Seattle
2016: Wrigley 1 & 2
2018: Seattle 1&2, Montana
2020: San Diego, LA 1&2, Oakland 1&2
2022: San Diego, LA 1&2, Fresno, Sacramento, Las Vegas, Denver
2024: Vancouver 1, Portland, Las Vegas 1&2, Seattle 1&2, Missoula, Dana Point 1 & 2
My first concert technically was seeing the New Christy Minstrels at the unveiling of United Airlines firs DC-8 in, I believe it was, 1035 BC. I didn't know much about music (I think I was 8 or 9 at the time) but they were excellent. A few years later Barry McGuire left the band and put out that great song, "Eve of Destruction".
The first concert I purposely went to was on Wednesday 29 December 1965, Circle Star Theater, San Carlos, CA: The Beach Boys, Jackie Lee and Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels. I was a huge Beach Boys fan and very excited about my first concert which turned out very differently from my expectations. The show opened with soul singer Jackie Lee and that was interesting because the audience was made up of more black folks than I'd ever seen in one place. Here we are, my brother and sister and I- three suburban white kids- surrounded by a black audience going wild over a singer we had never heard of. That was kind of cool but a little unnerving at the same time. No surprise that after Jackie Lee left the stage the place cleared out a bit. Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels were a revelation. I'd come to see surf music and here was this gritty band from the Midwest and man, they tore the place up. This really helped get my ears reading for bigger things in my listening future. The Beach Boys performance left a lot to be desired. First of all, this was one of the earlier shows where Brian Wilson was a no show and Bruce Johnston sat in for him. I mean, come on, The Beach Boys without Brian Wilson? I was devastated. My sister kind of saved the evening by showing a lot of enthusiasm and having a more philosophical take- "Well, look, the other four Beach Boys are here at least".
I think the next show after that was either The Who with Blue Cheer opening for them- a bit of a leap from The Beach Boys. ;-)

Aerosmith 1993 - Jones Beach, NY. Think in was 9/23/93. 4 Non Blondes were the opener.
First Festival-
Woodstock 94 - Great experience. At the time seeing NIN, Metallica, & Aerosmith play back to back to back was amazing to me. Aerosmith ending the night at 3:30am was a great. But after walking back to my tent in knee high mud, I left the next morning as got to much to handle. It was mayhem for sure. Missed out on the Sunday bands. But got to see all the Friday & Saturday bands
First concert - Rusted Root 12/31/94.. 16 years old, New years eve show,.. jesus that was fun
First festival - HORDE 1995 Black Crowes, Ziggy Marley, Blues Traveler

I was forbidden to go by my father, whom I'd just met... haha..anyways, a friend and I walked the 5 miles, snuck in during Frank Marino, stayed for Dave Mason & Ted Nugent..then left and went "home" to get grounded or worse. Now I think..TED NUGENT...argg... haha

First concert - fairport convention octagon theatre, Yeovil UK - 1986/7, not sure. First festival - cropedy festival- 1985, with my mum and dad. A folk festival headlined by fairport.
I guess my first concert was also a festival. Monsters of Rock 1988 at Giants stadium; still can't believe that Dokken and the Scorpions came on after Metallica.
First concert was Hoobastank opening for Incubus at the Spectrum in '02. First festival was Virgin Music Fest in '07 with Black Keys early on, Incubus, Matisyahu right as he started, 311, Wilco, Beasties, and the goddamn Police! Alone with others like Modest Mouse and too many others to remember.
