A-side is great, b-side not so much

Anyone who has a problem with PJ playing WMA (and Ed teasing WWS) while Jay Z raps 99 Problems is nuts. And I am anything but a Jay Z fan.
i really hoped the full song would be in,wma with 99 problems

That's an odd definition of "nuts". I think "W.M.A." would be a great sample for a rap track, just not this rap track, and by someone better than Jay Z.

Thank goodness it isn't something from Wrigley backed with Of The Earth, or some weirdo stuff like that..
    +1
Really like the Julie Andrews take on shattered.
Would love to hear her do "Jeremy" :fp: :fp: :fp:

I have a legitimate use for socks.

  • I thought Side A was ok I guess but Side B is terrible.

    Bummer.

I actually really liked the Jay Z x Pearl Jam "99 Problems".
Made me want to go dig out my Judgement Night Soundtrack.

I don't even hate 99 Problems as a Jay-Z song (I mean, I don't listen to it, but I've got no probs with it). I just don't understand why the 10C Christmas single is another artist's hit song. It doesn't make any good sense to me at all. Say it had been Jay-Z doing a PJ song - that would have made sense. Or even an obvious mash-up might have been cool. But Jay-Z singing his own mega hit (with a WMA baseline that most people don't even notice until someone mentions it) just seems dumb to me.

Outside of Ed not doing vocals, I don't see how this cover is any different from any other cover song they have released for an x-mas single.

To be fair, the 1997 single had the R.E.M. song "Live for Today". I wasn't too crazy about that either at the time, but I've grown to like it. The difference is, I've always liked R.E.M. to some degree.

Its not that great of a song, but as an REM fan its nice to have the last recording as a quartet.
  • I think it's great. I'm not a Jay Z guy at all but I like the "odd" mix for a christmas 45. It's exactly what I expect and love. And I CANNOT believe it made it to my house 2 days before Christmas this year. Nice job 10C.

  • I would hate to hear what happens when you guys get one used sock along with a slide show presentation of how much fun Aunt Marla had in Branson, MO for Christmas.

Agreed. I like the music, but I'm indifferent about the spoken word verse.

 I love that folks are rationalizing this as a cover. what's the b side? Shit on a shingle? Or a ritz?
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
