  • I'm happy for them all, that's awesome. Not much of a fan of nirvana even though those were my teenage years, but rock on, they've sold 100 million copies of their work! I always like them but I think with Cobain's passing they've gotten a whole lot bigger than they ever would have been. Sorry, Soundgarden, but I feel their career would have been comparable to yours. Good, but not mind blowing as the years go on.

The doors, some have said, had a similar path due to morrison's death... Well their output was a bit more:
'67-'71 produced 6 albums, not including "absolutely live." 4 in 6 years. Nirvana had 3 total, in 4 years.

I don't know what the hell I'm typing... Just thinking aloud. You all will kill me for this I'm sure, but shouldn't Nirvana have a few more years to wait before they go in alongside bands like KISS?
I'm like an opening band for your mom.

I'm glad Nirvana isn't getting inducted the same time as Pearl Jam, it would end of stealing the spotlight from PJ and ending up being a 90's grunge nostalgia show. Pearl Jam is far beyond that.

I think it's a real solid class.

And now it will be enjoyable to think who will induct them.

I think Chris Cornell could induct Nirvana, and think it would be cool if Mike McCready inducted Kiss.

As to who performs in Kurt's place, I'm guessing Paul McCartney. He did very well at the Sandy fundraiser last year. Thoughts?

  • super stoked for krist and dave and pat to get the recognition that they deserve.

i am not sure how kurt would have felt about the induction, since the hall itself represents everything he was against.

kurt and dave were always really funny. i would have loved to see what they had to say when they found themselves on the hof stage. it would have been gold.

The induction ceremony itself hasn't happened, just the announcement of who's getting inducted.
If you cant make it there in person on April 10th, It's recorded and shown on HBO like 6 weeks later.

I'm glad they finally got around to inducting Kiss. Love them or hate them, they have made their mark in the world of Rock n Roll, most notably revolutionizing the concert experience. I hope Ace and Peter show up and play with Gene and Paul instead of Eric Singer and Fraud Thayer. And I certainly hope someone pays tribute to Eric Carr during the ceremony.

Good for Nirvana as well, hopefully Courtney Love stays away from the stage though. Send Frances up with Dave and Krist to accept the induction.

It will really be a joke if Ace Frehley and Peter Criss aren't there and inducted with Simmons and Stanley.
It's one thing to get other guys to don the clown makeup and pretend they are Ace and Peter,
but they couldn't actually try to go through with this ceremony without them, could they?
It would be very interesting from a standpoint of a reunion if the four original members were to play
at the ceremony sans makeup. Aside from the couple of songs on the Unplugged show, I can't think of
any other time they would have done that in public.

They'll be included. Rolling Stone already had an interview with Simmons he comes off as surprisingly reasonable. I'm not sure how much venom the feud has had in the past, but he seems to really like Ace, at least, but fairly, couldn't handle the drug problems popping up over and over.

In regards to who should induct KISS, I could see Vinnie Paul Abbott doing it. Both He and Dime were influenced by Kiss, (That was Dime's first show). I was actually at a KISS show/ Motley co- headlined with them), and Vinnie Paul was in the third row. Paul Stanley pointed him out in the crowd mid set. Just a thought but, they were huge KISS fans, and it would be cool to see Vinnie induct KISS.

Nirvana is amongst the most influential bands of all time, and aged really well, still sounds fresh for the youth today. Personally I always felt (and still do) Nevermind was a groundbreaking moment at the border of classic and modern rock, it is really a "before and after" /"previously - ever since" type of record.

However I always wondered why Kurt wasn't mentionned as a superbrilliant singer besides all his achievements, this ability of his (has) got always overshadowed by his charisma, songwriting, influence, legend etc.

Kiss...lol, never liked them, but their influence on at least one generation is obvious and they have to belong the rock and roll inductees.
However i still do miss the holy trinity of the 80's THE CURE and THE SMITHS and of course my second favourite band, DEPECHE MODE

I think Kurt gets credit for making it okay for someone who can't sing to sign anyway. He had a way of making his terrible singing voice sound good.

I think he had a really pleasant voice when he would sing and while his screams weren't perfect pitch they display a depth of emotion that's not often matched.

I can't give credit to Cobain for breaking down any walls for singers that didn't have the greatest voice, though. I think Bob Dylan did everything to be done on that front 50 years ago.
