KISS! I can't wait to attend this year's induction! I attended the last two! I'm such a huge Kiss fan! I'm so excited! I don't think I'll be able to sleep!

First two people posting are more excited for KISS than Nirvana ... ha!

Say what you want about Gene being a complete fucktard these days ... but in the 70s, that band kicked ass. Still adore all those albums!

Gotta give some love to Hall and Oates too! 8-)

I'm actually not a fan of Nirvana's that much. I grew up listening to Kiss. They are one of my biggest influences. I couldn't be anymore excited right now!

  • REALLY excited for Nirvana. HUGE fan. Obviously, the whole thing is bitter sweet and hopefully Courtney Love doesn't do her best to screw it all up. This should be all Dave and Krist, and Courtney needs to sit back and shut up (which won't happen). I'm sure Dave, Krist and Pat will play a few songs, I just hope they get a good fill-in for the one-off performance. I know that I read Grohl say in an interview that they had thought of doing a NIrvana song with PJ Harvey when Grohl was doing Sound City (because Kurt was a big fan of hers), but I guess there was a scheduling issue/conflict. I also know that Cobain was very close with Mark Lanegan, so I could see him filling in for a few songs, too. Anyways, nice attention for Nirvana/Kurt and then PJ should follow in two years (when they're first eligible).

    Love Nirvana.

I think the music has aged extremely well. Especially the unplugged performance which is absolute legend

I'm glad they finally got around to inducting Kiss. Love them or hate them, they have made their mark in the world of Rock n Roll, most notably revolutionizing the concert experience. I hope Ace and Peter show up and play with Gene and Paul instead of Eric Singer and Fraud Thayer. And I certainly hope someone pays tribute to Eric Carr during the ceremony.

Good for Nirvana as well, hopefully Courtney Love stays away from the stage though. Send Frances up with Dave and Krist to accept the induction.

Don't sleep on Hall and Oates either.
Hall and Oates were some serious, like raking the money in hand over fist, flat out rock stars from like 1981 to 86, they're the biggest selling duo of all time. They've sold like 50 million records, maybe more.

Until groups like The Moody Blues, Chicago, New York Dolls, Jethro Tull, Joe Cocker and more get in, the rock and roll hall of fame can kiss my ass.

KISS!? Is this a joke? They are one of the cheesiest, worst, no-talent "band"s of all time. This is disgusting.
  • All deserving to be elected, and I'm really happy that Yusuf is getting in - hope they let him in the country for the induction ceremony

    But, no Yes? C'mon, man!!!!
  • Says something about the lasting power of Nirvana when they get in on their first year of eligibility.

You know what might be cool? If they let the daughter Frances Bean say something about Cobain and Nirvana instead of Courtney.

Nirvana and PJ are my favs. However, Nirvana really shinned in their Unplugged performance. They showed that they were a great band; and could do more than just make noise/scream. Very happy to see them make it first time out. I wonder who will front their performances. Kurt's shoes cannot be filled. I haven't heard a vocalist mimic his abilities ever.

  • Peter Gabriel too. He has some good albums and was a great live act back in the day.

Nirvana obviously made some tremendous albums. That said, I think they get a little more credit for the era than they deserve. If Kurt hadn't offed himself at 27 I think the mystique is a little less. Think Jim Morrison and the Doors. Same thing there.

All of that said, unplugged is the best unplugged album of all time. IMO

Nirvana Unplugged will always be the one to beat, of the MTV Unplugged series.
Considering shelling out the $$$ to go to this induction ceremony. If Courtney doesn't find a way to ruin it, you know Dave and Kris will do something amazing.

Kiss...not a fan, but their contribution to rock shouldn't be underestimated. They influenced a lot of modern musicians.

She might not get an invite.

All the talk of Frances showing up are crazy. She has every opportunity to capitalize on her Dad's fame and she hasn't yet. Not sure she would start with a large public ceremony

The Replacements deserved it more than anyone not named Peter Gabriel. I put them on the same level or a little higher than Nirvana. Terrific band that tons of bands copied, including Nirvana.

Nirvana is amongst the most influential bands of all time, and aged really well, still sounds fresh for the youth today. Personally I always felt (and still do) Nevermind was a groundbreaking moment at the border of classic and modern rock, it is really a "before and after" /"previously - ever since" type of record.

However I always wondered why Kurt wasn't mentionned as a superbrilliant singer besides all his achievements, this ability of his (has) got always overshadowed by his charisma, songwriting, influence, legend etc.

Kiss...lol, never liked them, but their influence on at least one generation is obvious and they have to belong the rock and roll inductees.
However i still do miss the holy trinity of the 80's THE CURE and THE SMITHS and of course my second favourite band, DEPECHE MODE

I think Kurt gets credit for making it okay for someone who can't sing to sign anyway. He had a way of making his terrible singing voice sound good.

I couldn't agree more. Not to put down any of the artists who are being inducted (especially Nirvana- what took so long?) but I have 20 vinyl Replacement/Westerberg albums and a total of 3 for all the artists and bands being inducted so you can imagine my disappointment.
