The UN resolution is only important symbolically, and is too little too late for Obama. I think the fact that this abstention comes at the end of his term is pretty telling in regards to the influence of the Israel lobby....as if we needed more evidence of that. Settlement starts were higher last year than any of the previous ten, and this resolution lacks the teeth to do anything about it....but it has got people talking. MSNBC (!) did a piece on the settlements that was actually somewhat impartial and informative (tho the host did mention that he he learned more from the segment than he had in years watching cable news...sad). Kerry actually used the word Nakba in today's speech. But given Trump's choice as ambassador to Israel, we will probably be hearing more about annexation than condemnation over the next four years. Watching Bibi throw tantrums has been pretty entertaining tho. Withdrawing diplomats, calling it a declaration of war etc etc....the settlements are completely indefensible to the international community. I think even Bibi knows this. Throwing fits over a toothless condemnation of them only serves to further isolate israel....and for what? Just to keep the bloodthirsty extremist pscycho's of the Jewish Home happy and in his coalition?...talk about political theatre.

Why was a seven year old in that situation to begin with?
Im assuming maybe because of the oppression he faces each and every day of his life since birth, maybe the illegal settlements to his home, maybe the killing of his family members, could be any number of reasons, maybe when they took his home they didnt let him keep any of his toys. You do raise a good point, what level of desperation must it be for a 7 yr old to take up rocks and sticks to fight men 3 and 4 times his age armed with clubs and automatic weapons?

Got it. So when rallying the troops... grab the toddlers as well and arm them with stones. Is this what you are arguing?
This was a point of engagement. Call me an idiot, but I'm just thinking that's probably not the best place for a seven year old. I'm not a super fan of child soldiering. It's gross actually.
I will concede that the instability of the area lends itself to unmanageable situations at times. This situation didn't look like a spontaneous engagement where a child and adults might have been surprised.
It is no coincidence that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - who was then followed by a slew of ministers and Knesset members - has called for a presidential pardon for Israeli soldier Elor Azaria.
Azaria was found guilty of manslaughter after he shot and killed Yusri al-Sharif as he lay wounded on the ground. This striking mobilisation to exonerate Azaria, which cuts across party lines and includes MKs from Labor, should actually come as no surprise, since the desired pardon is not really about absolving one lone murderer, but rather an effort to vindicate Israel's 50-year occupation.

...but will likely be swept under the rug and played off as typical political fuckery. The Israeli ambassador is caught on hidden camera talking to U.K. Politicians about 'taking down' ministers who oppose Israelis policy...with funding coming from the Israeli government. Lots of details on how Israel buys influence in the U.K. in this article. It's the same the world over, and widely reported...but getting it on video makes it irrefutable.
Pretty fucking telling to see that the minister being discussed as a target has brushed off the video. Israel's enemies are realistic about what happens when you're a vocal opponent.

Congratulations to Al Jazeera for their earthshaking revelations on the operation to "bring down" an FCO minister and a £1m Labour slush-fund will have momentous consequences for British politics. The Israeli Ambassador must be expelled. Joan Ryan MP's position in Labour is untenable
Corbyn must order an inquiry into the so-called "Labour Friends of Israel" and their £1,000,000 slush fund at the Israeli embassy.
We must know who else has been targeted to be "brought down" by the organised conspiracy that is the Israël lobby in Britain?
The PM now has clear evidence that a foreign govt in league with their agents in parliament are a conspiracy against her government and UK.
Boris Johnson has no choice other than to immediately summon the Israeli ambassador and demand his removal from the country without delay.
.....don't hold your breath on those demands, George.

Via consequence of sound, via times of Israel, via stereogum: the shows are scheduled for November 3rd and 4th in an undisclosed “outdoor location north of the Dead Sea.” That could place them in the highly disputed West Bank territory
It would have to be in the West Bank if they want both peoples to be able to attend...otherwise it's a farce. We shall see...
