Come on? These things just went on sale and you're offering it up for a benny. Its the timing obviously, the ink hasn't even dried on your credit card. Yeah you're trading it for other pj vinyl but I'm going to guess, not assume, that you paid $200 for it at the pop up because you couldn't get a benny and knew it might be possible to trade it up. Should have just posted it on the bay and buy a benny, or wait more than 8 hours before you post it on the forum then feign babe in the woods syndrome.
This is reasonable. I probably made an error posting this how I did. I hate eBay though, have never used it, and hope never to need to. A direct trade would be ideal. But yeah, this kind of criticism I can handle.
The larger issue, though, is that by raising the cost of rarer vinyl themselves, 10c is encouraging a secondary market.
That last statement is a cop out. Honestly, this was for charity and folks should not be taking advantage of other people via this vehicle. 10C should have jacked up the price on all this stuff and really raised some money. Want a Benny? $700 and you get a charitable donation slip for $600. Want a colored PJ20? $500 and a slip for $450. So on and so forth. Again, it's classic liberal the world will work the way we want it to instead of realizing there are opportunists that turn any good deed into mush (though there is the flip - no pun intended - side of that which is there are hopefully a handfull of folks that put in time and effort and got a truly cherished part of their collection at a somewhat reasonable price in light of today's valuations).
It was for charity. There should be no slinking off to eBay. There should be no rationalizing trades. Buy it if you want it, or leave it for the next person on line. I'm all for open market. I hope the reaction isn't shut LD down as it does plenty of good both for charity (EV and such) and giving fans a relatively safe place to interact and trade. But there's a special place in life for folks that feel the need to fill the need at a charity function.
Good luck with your trade.
I think to assume that people won't trade, or even sell items to get another item they really want just because the function is for charity is naive. The charity gets the money!
Bottom line is, 10C produces limited editons of awesome vinyls. That creates a collectors' market, which they're well aware of given what they charged for items at the popup shop. (They chargerd $350 for the fuckin backpack!) Collectors are usually hardcore fans who love the band. This was my 55th show. I cant even begin to count have much I've spent on the band in terms of tickets and travel costs. If I want to work hard to arrange a trade for something I really want, calling bullshit on me is myopic and unreasonable.
you're a jerk man. if there is any interest in the trade, please let me know!
I don't think there's anything wrong with the trade you're proposing.. If someone else sees the value in it, they'll do the deal. Otherwise, they won't.
That being said, there's no need for name-calling. A, it's against the rules and this thread is likely to be shut down as a result. B, it looks pretty immature on your part.
