For Bon Jovi, on October 25, there was a short event from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Galleria of the Air Canada Centre where you can send a video message congratulating Bon Jovi for 17 shows at the ACC. While there, there was also a contest to win tickets for their show on November 2 so I entered in a ballot and I got an email on October 28 telling me I won.
For The Orb, I got an email from Destiny Events on the day of the show, October 25, where I had to reply and said I wanna go see the orb (something like that). First 10 people to do this are on the guest list for free. I wasn't sure if I wanted to enter because I didn't even know their music but I did it anyway and got a reply telling me that I'm in the guest list. It was a very good show. Show did end around 12:10 AM. I went by myself since the guest list was only for one person. All I needed to do was to show valid I.D. at the venue.
Nothing to do with winning contest but about EDM music: I do have a ticket for the Dutch Trance DJ Armin Van Buuren at the Metro Toronto Convention Center on Saturday, April 19 and his show is scheduled to go from 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM.
Finally for P!nk, I won the tickets from 98.1 CHFI. I entered online and had to spend points on ballots. The more ballots I "purchased", the bigger the chance of winning. I won the tickets in late-March.

Wow! Superb list. Interesting that you saw Steve Aoki. He did come to Toronto in late October, but the tickets were over $80 each when I found about it. And that's the actual price, not from scalpers. I couldn't believe it was this expensive.
funny you should mention Aoki, I actually went to that one to interview one of the openers, Botnek.
The episode aired today as a matter of fact.

Halloween show was great and the new stuff sounded really good. It was a lot of fun. These early gigs they were doing were heavy on new stuff so the set list was shorter than I would have liked, but it just makes me look forward to when they come back around on their full scale tour. With that gap in April, they're lined up to play Coachella.
Not sure how far of a trek it is for you, but would be cool to see them at the Gorge.

It's been an excellent year, I have been very lucky. 2012 was phenomenal, I thought there was no way 2013 could live up to it, but it certainly did. Hoping 2014 will bring more musical joy!

Crossroads Guitar Fest (both nights) at the Garden
John Mayer at Jones Beach
Pearl Jam x 6 - Wor 2 through Hartford
Gary Clark, Jr. at T5
Wow!! I think I may have seen every great living guitarist at some point this year. Not bad.
And just realized my 13 turned 14 year old son went to 5 of those 13 total shows with me (though maybe, equally amazing my 9 and 11 turned 12 year old went to 3). I'm either crazy or lucky (or maybe a little of both ).
Download Festival, Donington Park, Castle Donington UK, June 14-16. Slipknot, Iron Maiden, Rammstein headliners. What fun this was, and a total gong show too. And holy fucking fuck do the Brits drink or what? Festival sold 1.2 million pints in 3 days, and that doesn't even include all the alcohol people brought with them to the campsites. Some of my favourite performances here were Down, Mastodon, QOTSA, the Hives, Iron Maiden (epic WWII bomber intro!), Devin Townsend accoustic set, Masters of Reality, Rammstein, Limp Bizkit (Fred Durst looks like a Muslim with his long beard haha)
Queens of the Stone Age, August 8, Corral, Calgary. QOTSA loves Calgary and Edmonton, this is I believe the third time they've just played on off shows here (part of their tour kinda, but no dates scheduled much before or after), and they played all of ...Like Clockwork except the title track. Slight letdown as the crowd rooted harder for "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" (heard 4 times in 6 shows for me) than "Lost Art of Keeping a Secret" (never heard it live :( )
Pearl Jam, December 2, Saddledome, Calgary. The Blizzard Show, enough said
Pearl Jam, December 6, Key Arena, Seattle. Great fucking time.
1. Pearl Jam, Calgary, 2005
2. NIN/QOTSA/DFA 1979, Calgary, 2005
3. Pearl Jam, Calgary, 2013
4. Rock the Bells, San Francisco, 2007
5. The White Stripes, Calgary, 2007
BB King
Bob Dylan w/Dawes
Built to Spill w/Genders
Pearl Jam
Black Crowes w/Tedeschi Trucks Band
John Butler Trio w/SOJA
Alabama Shakes w/Clear Plastic Masks
I may be missing a couple....
But at least you finally got to see PJ!
