I disagree a bit. They were nice and awesome but I think the event itself was poorly planned. People who got there 2+ hours early and waited in the cold didn't have much left to choose from. I think it was only a really positive experience from the very first people in the line (who were waiting since 5 or 6am).

I realized it was going to be limited merch, but it was super limited. Maybe it would of helped if they disclosed more info before the event. What they were selling, how many copies etc. Then people would have an idea. If they show up and there's 100 people queued already, and you know there's less than 50 copies of most stuff, then you can bail without freezing your ass off for hours.

It was probably even worse for people who showed up an hour before or 30 minutes before. They waited for hours only to get shutout of the event.

10c staff are awesome and nice, but there not always great at execution. That's how I see it anyways.

Checking for membership cards and a gift like what was outlined in the event section would have weeded out a lot of people. I know for a fact that not everyone had a gift for the early entry (and yes I realize that they didn't open doors until closer to 11:30) and not everyone had a membership card. In fact there were quite a few people that weren't even members that made out quite well with their purchases.

Waited in line. Freezing for 3 hrs

Well there's your problem. some people waited in line for 8 or 9 hours.

guess you just aren't tough enough.

I think the problem was they said they were going to let ten club with gifts in first. Had they done that people who waited i line for 4 hours would have gotten something. Theres no doubt that someone who waits longer with their gift and ten club membership should get in first but dont change the rules on the day.

This is the only "beef" I had with it. Everything was run well, everyone was nice, and all that but I bought a set of head phones, wrapped it and dragged it on a 4 hour flight as per the rules of this thing along with the print out of the card. I know I could have lined up earlier (I got there before 8 am), but if they actually did what they said they would and let people with their cards and wrapped gifts in early, I would have gotten a Benny, instead I saw the last one get sold 5 people in front of me. I have no problem giving to charity, but it would of been a lot easer to just say "with a $15.00 donation" vs. the wrapped gift thing... fitting that in my backpack, begging TSA not ot unwrap my present in the security line, etc. just have to have Tim come around and say they are letting everyone in at once pissed me the hell off.

  • I waited in line about an hour and a half, and then decided I just couldn't take the cold anymore. My husband and I left and explored the market, had some lunch, and then returned about 3 hours later. I ended up with a nice Ames brothers sweatshirt for only $10. I was disappointed that the 10c members with the charity gifts ( I brought one) were not let in first, as I would have loved to have picked up some vinyl for my friend and also a red LB for myself. Hopefully, next time!

After freezing my nuts off for a few hours queuing before it opened, I ended up getting PJ20 on vinyl, a signed Ames book and a couple of Ames t's and a mystery box that contained:
    PJ white t-shirt
    EV Dallas t-shirt
    2002 Xmas 7"
    Japan boot
    Wrigley cards
    Stickers
    Backspacer bouncy ball
Live at Easy Street poster which looks awesome! Looks as though this poster is quite rare too?

I also won Vault #3 in the raffle but as I already have it, I gave it back to Tim to draw again so someone else had the chance to win it!

Good effort! You scored a Benny!! I was really hoping to get one but got there too late. I'll trade you my backspacer bouncy ball for the benny!! ;) My bank account certainly benefitted from the Benny's & studio albums all being taken by the time I got in there. Enjoy the additions to your collection!

I guess I never posted what I actually got (and ranted instead.. lol).

    I think I was '97 in line:

    I got:

    1) Beige 2005 Gorge 2005 concert Tshirt
    2) Vault #3 Vinyl
    3) Unthought Known Vinyl

    From the Mystery Box:

    1) Merkinball 7" (which was cool because my copy was defective)
    2) PJ Bouncy Ball
    3) Werchter 2006 Poster
    4) Pack of Wrigley Cards
    5) A white tshirt that had the PJ initials done in some kind of Indian (er First Nations?) Art
    6) A black Eddie Vedder T (can't remember from which show).
    7) New Orleans 2000 bootleg cd.

I'm not sure if I'm happy that I bought vault #3. I already have a copy. Now I have a sealed spare. Hoping one day I can use it to barter towards a sevens box set.

    Hey there Damian.

It was nice to run into you guys late Thursday going to the merch truck. It was also fun talking for awhile after lunch at the brewery on Saturday. We did have a little laugh when you were picked in the raffle since you had just "apologized" to us back in the brewery because you were going to win the raffle and we were not going to.

That was very cool to give it back for someone else to win!!!

I hope you guys had a good trip back to Manchester!

Stood in cold starting shortly after 7am, since other posts about the previous pop ups recommended to get there early if you wanted the good stuff. Someone near me counted about 27 or less people in front of me. About 2-3 hours later recounted was about number 32. When I walked in the door guy said I was number 38. Flashed him my ten club card and dropped my gift off in the large bin. So basically there were 11-12 people that met up with spouses or friends and got in line in front of me. :nono:

Anyway. Didn't want to continue the bitching about that process...

Got what I wanted so I'm sooooo happy. :D
Spent quite a bit of money on most of the vinyls except RVM, Lost Dogs, and ITW picture disc that were quickly sold out. Didn't buy the Vault #3 cause already had one. Dropped some more money on mystery box, Seattle poster, shorts, hat, towel. Won Riot Act variant and Vault 3 vinyl in the raffle. Now have one to keep sealed and one to spin.

Ten club did good job getting people thru, decently organized. Tim was nice, gave info to us early on, passed out doughnuts and free army green beanie hats. Even raffled off left over (yes left over not purchased) Vault 3 vinyls. Tim was more excited about the raffle then most of the fans. Great experience minus the friggin weather.

    Thanks Tenclub!!! :D

BTW. People I met in line form Canada, Seattle, Pittsburgh, etc. thanks for chatting and keeping great attitude about freezing our asses off. 1st round on me if I meet back up with any of you on future tours. Peace and Merry Christmas!! Pat

I disagree a bit. Yes the 10c staff were friendly, nice and bought doughnuts. I think the event could of been better planned. IE there were somethings they could of done that might of prevented people freezing their asses off for nothing.

People who showed up 2 hours early looked to be about 50th in line, turn out to be 100, and there wasn't much merch left after the 3 hour+ wait to see what was there. I imagine the experience was awesome for the first 20 to 50 people, then diminishing returns after that.

Perhaps they should of posted what they had, and how many copies on their website. It could of helped manage expectations and keep people from needlessly lining up around the block and waiting in the cold? Especially since they held it while the the diehard populace was in town... they had to know the lineup was going to outdo the merch they had?

If I'd know they had 2 copies of some studio albums, 50ish of benaroya, a handful of rare 7"'s, and a bunch of boxes of vault #3/pj20, I would of done a count, and over 50 I would of left :(

I guess I felt bummed after waiting so long to see the merch available pretty scarce when I got my turn :(

I am confused by this. Did people think the Pop Up Shop was going to have 100 Bennys and 500 of each studio record? They actually had more stuff than I thought. I believe there was 50 Bennys available. That is a ton. I was expecting 5-10. That is why I got in line at 1am and was 4th in line. Believe it or not I got the last Rearviewmirror and the gentleman before me snagged the last Riot Act.
Was sleeping on the street in 15 degree weather fun? Not really, but it went better than I thought and I met a lot of cool new people. Some I had spoken to on here, but never met in person, so that part was a lot of fun. So when people line up one or two hours before the sale opens and then complain that there is nothing left boggles my mind. Most of the items at the pop up sale were extremely limited, even more than the Benny like Blue Fixer and colored PJ20, which I heard someone being 60th in line get those. That is pretty good. Being 4th in line I was worried I wasn't going to get some items, and the truth is I didn't one thing I really wanted, but I can't get mad at 10C, or the way the Pop Up Shop was organized. I thought it was organized really well.
Next time if you have your heart on something being offered at any future Pop Up Shop, just be prepared to camp out.

I would have liked to get that towel and maybe a few of the other things, but not enough to wait for hours in the cold and especially after I was drinking LATE into the night... or early into the morning to be more accurate.

I dont see anyone complaning about the number of items available. The complaints are about how the line was done. Had the organisers stuck to the advertised plan that ten club members with a gift would get in first then a lot of ten club members with gifts would have got something....mystery box comes to mind. Had i not stopped and spent twenty mins buying a gift on my way i would have got one as they sold out about 5 people ahead of me.
Organising something like this is hard especially with the number of people involved. All credit to tue guys as they did a great job of raising a lot of cash and gifts for the needy. I dont mind that i bought a gift and i had great fun in the queue. I just wish they had stuck to what was advertised. Personally i was just hoping for a future days ladies tshirt as the international postage is huge but they didnt bring any regular stock.

The part about the early entry with 10C membership and gift should have applied. I can see people getting upset about that.

I was about 80th in line, got there at 8:30ish - wrapped around the corner in front of Starbucks - and they came by with donuts. Someone even had a box of coffee they were passing around. I passed on the donuts outside until I got in the Showbox, they had a few boxes at the front desk. Damn that really hit the spot!
