Portland Poster - free ... but I need your story!

Hi everybody,

I had posted looking for SEA tickets at face in return for a Portland poster:
http://community.pearljam.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=226150

Somebody came through with a pair which is awesome because my brother is a huge PJ fan but was not able to fork over the ransom that stubhub was seeking. Thanks again to my anonymous helper!

Now to the fun part ...

I am going to give a 2013 Portland poster and sticker to a 10c'er who did the coolest thing to help another 10c'er get into a show on the Lightning Bolt tour. Preferably you do not already have a Portland poster and I would expect that you keep the one I send you, vs selling it ... but alas that just comes down to the honour system.

I suspect somebody who helped like this is probably not going to nominate themselves so if somebody did something to help you please tell us about it! They may not.

For others, feel free to post on which of the 'candidates' is your favourite story.

This should be fun!! :D

I nominate Glorified Gee as he sold me his extra GA pair for OKC. Had an awesome time, and we also ran into him and his wife again after the show to thank them again. I was able to get my pair of 10C reserved into another 10C members hands that had flown in from Denver with no tickets. Win win situation!

  • rockermom deserves it! I live in kansas and have a broke ass artist buddy who moved to portland recently. We saw PJ in 93 at Century II in Wichita together; Italian bootleg "World Jam"! If you havent heard it; go find a copy now! So he is out there barely getting by. Needless to say, he didnt have the extra $$ to go to a concert. rockermom had listed her other reserved seat for portland but after a couple days it was still available. After contacting rockermom with this story; she didn't hesitate; sent me her personal phone # to give my friend, and set him up with a FREE awesome seat to see his favorite band when he was down on his luck. She represents the Pearl Jam spirit with this act of kindness and deserves the break herself, as I dont even think my buddy could afford to buy her a beer

Thanks for doing this nice thing for someone; all of which I'm sure are very deserving!

I knew people were helping each other! Good to see.

Might have an early leader given the Portland angle :D but Glorifed Gee was also very generous with a 'golden ticket'.

I'll take nominees until the cobwebs clear Sat morning after the Seattle show!

Am I allowed to nominate myself? I ran a thread on here(and asked for help on twitter from various PJ fan accounts) to give away my extra Wrigley field ticket:

    Seattle Game Day bump. :D

I have had several great stories sent via PM ... let's get a few more up here today and then we can send somebody a poster this weekend!

Vancouver show was epic ... cannot wait for Seattle tonight!! Thanks again to the 10c community for making this happen!!
  • I want to nominate ElwayVedder (Dave). Not only did we get to see the band in Philly, but we completed a 2 year long journey by getting a letter and gift to Ed. Without Dave's help, this never would have happened. Not only the coolest thing anyone has ever done for me during a tour, but possibly the nicest thing done for me in my life.

Really awesome post. Glad someone someone could help you out and you are returning the favor. I've had some great experiences with 10 clubers in the past. Good group. Now I just need a mid-west tour so I can make it to another show.

Last call for nominations bump! Had a few solid PMs as well ... I'll close it out tomorrow so last chance to submit.

Three great shows this week and I really appreciate the 10C community helping me see the show last night ... esp. the person who hooked me up with tickets. I threw in a Seattle and Vancouver poster on top of the two Portland Emek's that were part of the deal. :D The least I could do ...

If anybody helped you see a show then treat them well! This was a tour for the ages and hey helped you experience it.

Let's hope the trend continues on the next album ... this band is on a roll which is incredibly exciting at this stage of their career!!

    Cheers,

    J.

I am still recovering from last nights show in Seattle but wanted to send a big thank you to a fellow Pearl Jammer.

Three days before the final show in Seattle I posted a quick one line request for a single ticket on the PJ Forum. Although I had 50 plus views only one person replied. I exchanged a few emails with a guy from Atlanta named Mike W who offered to send me a tix if I could just tell him what PJ meant to me. After a few emails Mike emailed me a tix ( section 125 ) I was four rows up from the floor on Mikes side in an end seat. The seat & view werre incredible.

What made this even better is Mike wouldnt accept a penny for the tix. I offered cash, PJ posters, free beer...he wouldnt accept. He just told me Merry Xmas and to pass on a good deed next time around. I know PJ fans are great, but this guy takes the cake. Mikes kindness and selfless act was much appreciated and I wanted him to know it and for the PJ board to hear this.

Mike, I still owe you a beer and the next show is on me!!! Enjoy your weekend in the Emerald City and thank you again!!! Last night was my 18th show and one of my favorites to date.

Curious, who was the old guy that Ed tackled @ the end of the show? Looked like the guy was spilling beer and out of it.

Merry Xmas Mike...a toast to you for a happy and healthy '14!!!

    Cheers All

    Drumroll please ...

So first of all, let me say thank you to those who shared stories. It is kinda weird to pick out one because there were stories of people getting free tickets when they couldn't afford it. There were people who chased PJ from city to city and only got into shows because they found help from fellow 10Cers. There were people who gave their poster to kids who were upset to not have a poster on their way out of a show. Great work team 10C. Impressive stuff.

The story that lands the EMEK poster is going to be ElwayVedder (Dave) and the story of PJ. I traded PMs with PJ and the gift in question in incredibly special and I suspect it meant a lot to Eddie. Very cool story.

So, congrats to Elway for helping make this tour special for PJ (who has incredibly appropriate initials for this!) :)

And thanks again to everybody who responded to this post with stories of how somebody else contributed to their Lightning Bolt Tour experience.

    See you in Europe!
