I heard through a credible source that one of if not the main reason there were so few sevens sets sold is 10c is closely tracking where they end up and will be revoking 10c memberships of those people they catch flipping. I noticed on one of the auction sites that there were bids as high as 550 for a 55 dollar set. I agree if that's what they are doing as one of the people who just missed out on getting a set and would have listened to them!
So...instead of creating more to meet demand, or taking pre-orders to match demand, they produced few so that they could kick out a few 10C members?

How would the Ten Club know who the seller is unless the purchaser reports them?
Maybe the purchaser is from 10c. Maybe there is a special task force at 10c specifically formed for trolling the auction sites and even this very forum to catch these flippers. It's plausible.
Seriously That's the task force I was talking about!
Stone totally looks like he does not want to be there.
He doesn't even want to play anymore
Seriously guys, after looking at that pic I do not even think those guys care about hunting flippers, maybe 10c does, but I would guess they don't even tell the band what they are doing...

Matt looks like he cares. He looks determined. He looks like the host of the newest reality show on A&E, "Hunting Flippers, the true life tales of a band protecting its fans from the evils of vinyl Flipping". I think the title is a work in progress. Seriously though I really hope they catch some of these people. :corn:

I'm 100% against flipping but this is not likely. They don't give a s**t!

well there was one guy who was allegedly called a flipper in a pm by one of the mods. and he claims he has only sold 2 things on ebay ever, and they weren't even flipped.

See?! For those that said they needed proof, I ask you look to Hugh. They're out there.
1) Have a pre-order window during which people can pre-purchase the product, which will be made to order at the conclusion of the window. Make the window wide enough that everyone who wants has ample time to purchase. Tell people before hand how long the window will be open. All eager collectors get one = no further demand for the product.
2) Announce the product is on sale NOW and will be EXTREMELY LIMITED. Make sure to do this while roughly half the globe is asleep (which is a guarantee for a product which remains in stock for about an hour). Now that you have successfully ensured that numerous die-hard collectors are incapable of obtaining said item from Pearl Jam, waste time, energy, funds to track third-party resales of said limited product. Give up when you realize this isn't possible. Die-hard collectors miss out = huge demand for said product = flippers win. Oh, wait, this doesn't stop flippers, this - *slowly sneaks away backwards*
Sometimes I wonder if half of Ten Club are managing an organization to resell these products, since their business model is distinctly anti-fan and pro-eBay resellers. Though, of course, I could be bitter because I ordered off Amazon, since I figured with Amazon, the product would arrive promptly in Canada.

Now who's the conspiracy theorist. I think this discussion is getting wacky. I was seriously trying to help deter these flips by getting the word out about what I had heard and now everyone is espousing these crazy ideas. :fp:
The ying-yang of it is this... If you make a limited edition item it makes it attractive to collectors since it has some added value. This added value makes collectors happy but creates flipping. If you sell as many as are demanded then its not as attractive to collectors and there is no flipping.
Pearl Jam does both for its fans. It releases its albums and bootlegs with tremendous supply.
It also offers limited qty items for collectors to enjoy.
If you are getting taken by flippers its because you are a fool. If you decide that you have to own every single item that Pearl Jam releases regardless of price then you are a fool. Anything that apreciates in value will be re-sold(flipped). Getting mad at the people reselling the products to fools is funny.

They should have this for all of the more ridiculous speculation around here.
I'd be inclined to believe the op of there absolutely any evidence to support it. No shut down auctions on ebay and no banned Lost Dogs sellers.
