I don't think the value on these will be sky high for long because they are 45's.
I dont think them being 45s has anything to do with value. They are collectors items. Look at all the 45s that Third Man puts out...limited ones are VERY pricey.
Well demand is related to value and I believe demand for 45's is lower than demand for LPs.
Many people collect purely on the basis of wanting to spin the records, but I don't see this being the case here. Less competition from this crowd should equate to lower prices.

Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

You don't believe there is a wide variety of collectors out there that are looking for different things in their collection? Maybe your collection is sealed, NIB, mint, perfect and complete. But not everyone wants that, some people are looking to collect, and yes it is still a collection, records that have been previously played or that are not in mint condition.

sure, but it doesn't matter if it's 45's or not. it only matters how collectible it is. look at the coloured fixers. those are insanely expensive, and their only difference is their colour. no different music, no different art, no 20 page book. no box. same with the Let Me Sleep 45. It got up to $300+ there for a while. For a freakin' 7" with one song and some talking!!!

Lucked into getting one of these. Ordered with intentions of listening to the records, but I'd be a sucker not to flip them for these prices. Outrageous.

Shit, if someone is going to hand me $400-$500 for the same songs I can already get in wax, it would be idiotic not to take the money.
The problem with today's "collectibles" are that people approach them as such from the start. Even as recent as 2003, people were not as rabid for anything PJ outside of posters. Benaroya Hall was never this valuable in the beginning. True collectibles are things that were never intended nor treated as such.
I think the Sevens box set will never see its value reach higher than it shows currently. People have to have one now, so they inflate the price. Others may shill bid to inflate their own sales. Patience will pay off here. I want one very badly, but I won't pay those prices for a record with no long-term value history. One could buy a project Porsche 914 for the same money.

When posters or wax is put in this perspective it really does scare me on what I have spent. But yes I agree, I always wait until the hype does down on something and then go for it later at lower prices. Sure, not everything goes lower but 9/10 do so you save a bunch of money that way. Every now and then you will be wrong and something will go higher but the odds are stacked way against it.
And c'mon man you gotta get the AWD Audi to handle the snow!
