Your best non-PJ music memorabilia?

So these threads on most embarrassing show and first show made me think of this: what is your most prized or most interesting piece of non-PJ music memorabelia?

Thinking embarrassing shows made me think of Philly's the Hooters... which made me remember that I went to the (I think) '85-'86 MTV New Year's Ball (which the Hooters played at, but I swear that's not why I went! I liked the Divinyls and they played, RIP the singer), and I somehow was allowed to walk out with a giant, pink leaopard print " '86" that was bigger than me. It looked just like the inconic "I want my MTV" moonman cartoons... I still really love that.

I also just moved homes and came across an Alice Cooper backstage pass, which reminded me that my friend used to work for a record label and he took me to that show. And it was great!

And coolest thing is probably a plastic silver bullet from a Clash concert that Paul Simonon threw out.

Guitar picks from Page, Clapton, Townsend, Jagger, Richards, Wood, Young, Stills, Frampton, Neilson, Nelson, Cash, and several others I can't recall. I also have bits and pieces from Trent Reznors' Keyboard and a guitar pick also. And a 4 inch stack of various backstage passes.

It is gone now, but i smoked a Slash joint..

I was working at a venue here in town. "Local Crew". Velvet Revolver played there the one night and I was super excited to get to see Slash and Duff play live for the first time. I was a Huge GNR fan as a kid. Just until Ten and Nevermind came out .. anyway, as the guitar tech was tearing down Slash's rig, I noticed that he just threw the pack of Marlboros sitting on top of his amp all night to the side.. I saw where it landed, and once I got on the stage to do my work I went over to pick it up as my little slash souvenir. I was elated once I opened it to see one cigarette and one joint!!
I smoked it after to my shift, and the cigarette right after.. Thank you Slash!!

Second question: If you had to pick one, which backstage pass in your 4" stack holds the most unbelievable, amazing memories for you?

So if we're really gonna talk most precious memorabilia, for me it's all about The Clash... From one Bonds show I have: a full set of guitar picks (Mick's, Joe's and Paul's), plus a bashed up set of "Toppers Boppers" (actually says that on the drumsticks), and an autographed "Clash on Broadway" t-shirt with a Bonds backstage pass, a plastic silver bullet, and matches from Bonds. Almost 20 yrs later I would add a white cowboy hat with a black band that Joe Strummer wrote my name in before giving to me, just a couple years before he passed.

In the "Most random memorabilia" category: I just remembered seeing Tom Jones sometime in the 90s (sure, he had a toupee and hearing aid, and couldn't swing those hips like he used to, but he was still hella charming and great!). So Jones had the best merch scam going: at the merch booth they sold silky panties, no doubt to save us ladies the inconvenience of having to strip down in the audience to throw our own onstage! So throughout the entire show there were panties raining down on the stage, and I'm pretty sure the merch guy just waited until the show was over, collected them all from the stage, and then re-sold them the next night. So my most random music memorabilia are my pair of Tom Jones panties that some lady with poor aim tried to throw onstage but landed on my head. At least... I sure HOPE whoever threw them had just bought them at the merch stand!! :shock:

bill graham poster of jefferson airplane and the grate ful dead from okeefe centre in toronto. very rare. police picnic posters from 1981 from the band the police. pictures i took of u2 at massey hall in toronto in 1984 autographed by the band. my bruce picture(killer shot) from 1984 c.n.e. granstand show first of 3 nights autographed by bruce. picture of robert plant autographed from 1983. all pictures taken by me . if i do say so myself are quite good. pictures of r.e.m. from 1985 masonic temple ,toronto when people made fun of me going to see them. just a few items.

Coolest I've ever seen....a guy I knew caught a Danny Carey drumstick. Carey cracked it and when he went to throw it, it got caught in his hair, so there's a bunch of hair caught in the splintering.

I have worked as a stagehand since 1991. None of the backstage passes hold any memories other than long 16 - 20 hour days at "work". I was on crew for Johnny Cash at the State Theater in Sandusky Ohio . It's a very small house [1,000] and was able to pretty much spend most of the day with the Man in Black. Even ate dinner with him in the green room. All of my swag came from working shows. I also have a closet full of crew shirts.

Ya, working as crew is the best way to collect a ton of stuff.. My brother has been working shows for a very long time (locally) and has lots of "stuff".. but the odd jobs and stories are the funniest.. I love his "I had to take Leon Russell to guitar center" story..

Getting a job at a local venue is a really cool thing.. it was for me anyway..

Re: Johnny Cash :shock: :shock: :shock: !!! That is simply amazing that you had dinner with him. What was he like at that point? Didn't he pass away just 2 yrs later?

Re: being a stagehand, I get it. Those are long days. In college all the women on the concert committee wanted to do hospitality (I.e. Feed the bands and set up the dressing rooms) but I always signed up for tech crew because that was so much more interesting. So even though I'm a short chick, I actually know what those days can be like.

The hardest I ever worked was an Echo & the Bunnymen show on the Killing Moon (?) tour - I think they had 3 billion lights we had to set up. Easiest was the Bangles, because I got pulled to guard their dressing room because they wanted a chick.

Speaking of stories, my "crew experience closest to a scene from "Almost Famous" " was a New Order show. I've never met Cameron Crowe, but if I did I'd ask him if this scene from Almost Famous was about New Order: the band was extra extra cranky when they arrived (even for an English band, LOL!) and after the show bassist Peter Hook even shoved an overly eager fan who almost fell down some stairs. We on the local crew were like "WTF?" And finally their crew told us that they'd just finished allowing a journalist to tour with them, wined and dined him and treated him really well, but they'd just gotten advance copies of the story that was going to run in Rolling Stone, which included tales of girlfriends (of already married band members) and drugs. No "I am a golden God!!" Moments, but scandal nonetheless. I wouldn't even post this usually, out of respect for privacy, except: 1) it was a long long time ago; and 2) it wasn't exactly private once the story ran in Rolling Stone! That probably happened several times to most really good journalists, but when I saw the movie I almost said out loud "That part must be about New Order!!"

I collect signed celebrity baseballs, and love to get different bands to sign them.

My favorite one is All 6 Ramones on 1 baseball, that I got in person at a Tower Records In Store signing in NYC. Johnny was a baseball collector himself, and he spoke to me for a few minutes about collecting.

Nothing crazy for me, I have some guitar pics form show for MMJ, QOTSA, Bad Religion, a drum stick from Phoenix, and a couple of setlists. One from the Pixies and one from Ben Harper. Actually the Pixies setlist I gave to a buddy of mine as they were his favorite band. After the show some dude actually offered me $50 for the setlist. I said no thanks I'll keep it. Then we went back to our house for a night cap and when my buddy left I gave it to him and said he would value it more than I did. He was pretty pumped and so I think that would be my best non PJ music memorabelia because of the look on by buddies face when I gave him the setlist. He has it framed in his house somewhere, but not really sure, lol.

Purchasing Harry Connick Jr. tix for my better half and then clearing people out of the way as he made his way down the aisle so she could give him a big hug and kiss and thank him for the music. And the drum stick she got at the end of the show. Nothing big, but I don't really get into all the collection stuff. I am really impressed by some of the stuff on this thread though. VERY IMPRESSED!

I caught one of Roger Taylor's drumsticks (Queen drummer) and I got him to sign it after the gig as well.

I also have a guitar signed by Steve Vai, and an Aerosmith tour programme signed by Steven Tyler. All 3 sigs were personally collected after gigs.

In Vancouver, I was at the merch booth and the gal pulled a poster up for me. I was giving my card when my buddy said the corner was bent and I should get another one. The gal pulled up another one for me and bingo- signed!

Lots of cool stuff!! For some reason I especially like the photo someone's dad took of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan - there is so much about that that is a time capsule!
