No change for me. After a few more listens to LB, I still really don't like it at all and really don't listen to it. TDPDH gets better with every listen. KA still rocks.Olivavu said:Has time changed the mind of anyone on these albums?
I haven't listened to TDPDH since the time this thread was posted.0 -

King Animal, because it's a damn good album but I don't listen to it too often for some reason. (I think I'll spin it right now that I'm thinking about it.)
Dinosaurs, because I've never listened to nor do I have any plans to. Yes, I'm one of those people that won't listen to it because it's not Layne. :?The love he receives is the love that is saved0 -
I am going to have to get KA! It's the only one out of the three I don't own.
And to all the hate on BS? I get it, but I don't get it. I think I liked BS more the LB. it had great songs like: Just Breathe, Gonna see my Friend, The Fixer, Johnny Guitar, Got Some, and amongst the waves. I find it had a similar sound to Avacado guitar wise, they were both very punk-ish. But I can definitely see that LB was more technical.0 -
I like Backspacer, but I can't really see a "punkish" side to it.
Pearl Jam is a much more rocking album. Backspacer is more polished and upbeat.Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022

1) Lightning Bolt
2) King Animal
3) The Devil Put Dinosaurs here
But I like the AIC album fine, unlike so many others here. I don't think it's at all bad. Listening to it right now, and it's alright. Not great, but not a pile of crap IMO. Totally listen-worthy. But PJ and SG have always been way better than AIC for me anyway.... LB takes it by a landslide however. For me, there is a huge gap between LB and the other two. And I don't think that Kind Animal is WAY better than the AIC album. I think they are pretty close (I also don't give a flying fuck about Mudhoney).Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. I don't rate Alice In Chains close to Pearl Jam either. I prefer Soundgarden to them as well, but not by anywhere near as much.
Soundgarden are probably borderline top ten for me, while Alice are probably top twenty material.Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022

I'm a way bigger PJ fan than Soundarden fan but King Animal is a better record as a whole than LB. It's close, and I've definately listened to LB more but got to go KA. As far as Devil Dinosaurs here, haven't heard it. No Layne = Not AIC. Yes, I'm one of those guys0

Idk I find that the guitar is punkish. Like Big Wave, WWS, and life Life Wasted is kinda punk. BS not so much.Olivavu said:I like Backspacer, but I can't really see a "punkish" side to it.

Is comparing Lightning Bolt and King Animal fair though? Given that PJ are on album ten and Soundgarden are up to six - plus KA had 15 years worth of potential ideas in it.
I prefer Lightning Bolt anyway.Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022

I remember KA coming out the same day as Koi No Yokan from the Deftones. A great album I'd forgotten about in the excitement of new SG.
I'm KA then LB then Devil. The latter two seem a bit top heavy. There are a couple of later songs like Yellow Moon, Scalpel and Phantom I love but the songs around them don't grab me as much as the earlier ones. Do like the sound of Devil though.Stars are suns to other people.
