I will bet on that. Moreover, I will double down and say this. If time travel were possible and you could go back to one show that was performed during the first leg of the PJ N.A. LB Tour---I bet most ppl would chose Charlottesville for numerous reasons. I bet.
This thread is about the best crowd, Charlottesville won best set list hands down, but that's about it, just read the fan views.
Maybe you should re-read the fan views. Vast majority rave about the crowd. Sorry you couldn't have been there.96 - Ft Lauderdale

A vast majority, but there were some that said the crowd wasn't all that good. You can't find anyone who said that about Hartford.9/13/1998 - 9/15/1998 - 8/29/2000 - 7/2/2003 - 7/3/2003 - 7/11/2003 - 9/28/2004 - 9/28/2005 - 5/13/2006 - 5/27/2006 - 6/1/2006 - 6/28/2008 - 6/30/2008 - 5/17/2010 - 10/25/20130 -
Didn't notice the crowd at the 2 shows I was at.0

Charlottesville easily. The crowd was intense in a way I've rarely experienced.
Baltimore's crowd was mediocre until the 2nd encore.00: Va Beach, 03: Bristow, 04: Reading, 05: Atlantic City 2x
06: Camden, Washington DC, 08: Va Beach, Washington DC
09: Philly 2+3, 10: Bristow, 11: East Troy PJ20 1+2, 13: Baltimore, Charlottesville0 -
I was at Brooklyn 2 and Charlottesville. Have no clue which was better as I was upfront for chville and couldn't tell. I will say that Charlottesville's crowd nailed the Sirens tag. First time ever done and the crowd nailed it!
Brooklyn was probably louder due to size of crowd.
But, I think Buffalo was the best crowd of the 8 shows I saw.0 -
Philly #10

C'ville, definitely0

Went to three shows and in order of best crowd it went:
1. Hartford
2. Brooklyn 2
3. Brooklyn 1
Hartford may have been one of the loudest crowds I've ever heard and I've been going to shows for over 20 years.
You could tell the band was really impressed with the crowd. Ed even said at one point that the fan reaction that night was not normal.
I was on the rail and there were times the crowd was louder than Ed singing.
Hopefully they mix it right so you can hear the crowd's true volume that night.
Great night and a great show.92 - Orlando

Hartford
Brooklyn2
Worcester2

Ranking the shows I was at.
1. HARTFORD by far, without a freaking doubt, just wow.
2. Brooklyn 2
3. Brooklyn 1 / Worcester 2
Ed did say during Alive in Hartford, "unfuckinbelieveable!" or something. Never felt energy like that from a crowd before. Loudest concert I've ever been to.2013: Worcester 2, Brooklyn 1, Brooklyn 2, Hartford
2015: Global Citizen Festival
2016: Philly 1, Philly 2, MSG 1, MSG 2, Fenway 2
2018: Fenway 1, Fenway 2
2024: MSG 2, Philly 1, Philly 2, Fenway 1, Fenway 20 -
was hartford 13 louder crowd than philly (spectrum?) 03?
[actually curious here, sounds like it *may* have been]
also.
are we now saying "loudest" equals "best"?
did the hartford crowd sing Sirens so long Ed had to re start the song? (see here)
:PIf I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?0 -

Having seen PJ almost 90 times now, the spectrum in '03 always stood out as the loudest show (crowd wise) I have ever seen. I regret not going to Hartford this year (haven't missed a conn show since '96) but a torn achillies tendon fucks up your tour plans pretty bad. Did see both Brooklyn shows and night 2 was impressive."If you want a friend, feed any animal." - JA

There is an audience recording on Dime, Ed was in shock most of the night.
After Last Exit: "Oh, god damn, that was quite a reception, this is ah... ah... We're gonna have to work real hard tonight to deserve what you just gave us."
Before Sirens: "Cheers!.... Hey ah, I was just thinking, I was thinking, you know, if you're surfing. You know you can be a really good surfer, but if the waves are shit, its hard to be a good surfer if the waves are shit, even if you're a great surfer already. So, the thing is, these are like some of the best waves we've ridden all tour. This energy.... So what I'm saying, is even a tiny little shit band like us can sound pretty good with you guys here."
After first encore break: "I'll tell you the truth, we were in the back just saying this is incredible, incredible crowd what great crowd, this is really incredible. And ah, then we were like, oh fuck, there still out there, we better get out there...."
Crowd takes over the chorus during Alive and Ed shouts "Fucking Unbelievable"
Indifference starts: "I mean, this not, this is not normal... I mean its..... I will light the match this morning..."MUZIK wrote:Now that the 2nd leg is about to begin was wondering what were some of the best crowds.
I think Ed would say Hartford in a landslide.9/13/1998 - 9/15/1998 - 8/29/2000 - 7/2/2003 - 7/3/2003 - 7/11/2003 - 9/28/2004 - 9/28/2005 - 5/13/2006 - 5/27/2006 - 6/1/2006 - 6/28/2008 - 6/30/2008 - 5/17/2010 - 10/25/20130 -

Philly 1 was amazing -- I mean, Monday night and all and people were crazy.
But then there was Hartford -- three hours of people not leaving for beers, singing/yelling their lungs out, even up in the rafters. The whole place was on its feet.
For everyone upthread arguing Bk2 vs. C'ville, Hartford wins this one. I couldn't even hear Ed half the time. All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.0 -
