Anyone else read this book? Its highly suspect, but still an interesting read. The book claims we were placed on earth by about 50,000 years ago. It's argument is that we are not totally suited for this environment. I summarized the points below:

1. The sun hurts our eyes – How have we not evolved to look towards the sun after millions of years of evolution here
2. The sun kills us – How can the sun, which we need, be able to kills us through skin cancer
3. SAD - Other animals migrate or hibernate while we just get depressed
4. Bad Backs – We are from a planet with different gravity and aren’t meant to grow this tall = Bad backs
5. Fossil records – Lack of fossil link between early apes and modern humans has never been found
6. Lack Of body hair – To keep us warm like other animals
7. Hay fever and asthma – After millions of years of evolution we should have adapted to this
8. Diet – We should eat food found in nature. However we are constantly modifying our food (all our produce such as corn carrots) and even cooking the food which is not how it is naturally. We should have evolved to crave natural food
9. Excessive overpopulation – We can’t sustain ourselves
10. Lack of defensive capabilities – If we evolved in East Africa we would have no defensive capabilities to survive the environment, long before we used any type of tool
11. Destroying the environment – we are the only species on earth that changes and destroys its environment by doing what we do naturally
12. Technological Leaps – The jump from Homo sapiens to modern humans is extremely short. It took us 10,000s of years to use rudimentary tools, however only 7000 years for me to use this computer
13. Chronic Illness – No other species on earth experiences chronic illness like we do
14. Unhappiness and depression – Most humans aren’t happy and depression is growing, where as there’s a saying “happy as a pig in shit” we aren’t happy here because we are not from here
15. Self-destruction – turn on the news

That shits very interesting. I totally agree we are not from earth. Ironically our body is made up of 4/5 elements of space. Basically dumbed down, were all star children. I'm so fucken fascinated by anything space!

Highly suspect doesn't even begin to cover the pseudo-scientific nonsense and absurd assertions made in that list.

How do you reconcile religion and this frame of mind, Badbrains?

Any of you ever watch Ancient Aliens? They go into this in a lot of detail. They believe the aliens arrived in the earth's past and created the human race. Some of it is a stretch but it does make you think :o

I find all of the "where we came from" theories interesting and worth consideration....but that's as far as I take any of them. I won't let faith lead to belief without a smoking gun....from my understanding, science hasn't quite provided that in regards to human evolution.
Not sure if the gap between hypothesis and fact is large enough to lend the alien theory any credence...but its still more plausible than any creationist yarn I've heard spun.

Does the book mention Nibiru and the reptilians? ;)

Even if there was such a large gap, lack of evidence for one hypothesis does not lend another hypothesis credence. Only evidence for that hypothesis does that.

To my mind, the theory of Evolution is proven, there are no reputable scientific bodies that do not currently accept this, the lack of specific transitional fossils in human evolution does not mean the theory has less credibility, or that it does not apply to humans.

    "highly suspect"?

To me, anyway, more like a steaming pile of bullshit ;)

Unhappiness and depression – Most humans aren’t happy and depression is growing, where as there’s a saying “happy as a pig in shit” we aren’t happy here because we are not from here

    ^^^case in point.

THAT'S the reasoning? Because we are "not from here"?

Good question thirty, I find myself asking that same question over and over. It's one of the many questions and confused theories I have about religion. I'm still confused.

The majority of Christians have reconciled evolution and their religious beliefs, the Catholic Church offically endorses the theory. I see no reason why Muslims should not be able to do the same.

Obviously it's not going to mesh with a literalist interpretation of most religious texts, but most religious people aren't literalists.
  • The post was meant to make people think. I don't agree with everything nor do I believe whole heartily believe we are aliens haha. It was an interesting read and if you read something with pre-existing notions toward the subject you will never learn anything. For thousands of years (and some people still do) believe we originated from Adam and Eve. His theory is more plausible than the bible in my opinion.

Most likely our origins are related to what we have learned about evolution. But the "humans from outer space theory" might explain the great Sun Ra being from Saturn.

True in today's eyes, however it was accepted for thousands of years. whose to say in a thousands years people won't look at us and say "what the fuck were they thinking"? Advancement isn't made until things are questioned. And again I don't agree with everything in the book, nor do i believe we are aliens. it was an interesting read.

This was referring to my post? My question had nothing to do with what faith one subscribed to. It had to do with the inherent conflict between two fields of thought.

And I'm giving an example of some religious people who have resolved such a conflict. I only bring up Islam because I know badbrains is a Muslim, but I don't know whether belief in evolution is common amongst Muslims or not.

From what I understand in Islam and evolution is very little. I believe, but could be wrong, that Islam def doesn't believe in evolution of any kind.
