I just went through all the pages and don't see some shows I would like. Trying to get all the shows I have been to so does anyone have...
8-20-92 Lollapalooza - Atlanta, GA
11-26-93 Balch Field House, Boulder, CO
3-6-94 Paramont Theater, Denver, CO
3-7-94 Paramont Theater, Denver, CO
9-1-98 Lakewood - Atlanta, GA
9-4-98 Bi-Lo Center - Greenville, SC 9-6-98 Thomspons Boiling Arena, Knoxville, TN (with Encores)
9-19-98 Constitution Hall - D.C.
Thanks a ton in advance and I have really enjoyed looking at all of these shows and making my lists of shows I want to download. Thanks for all your hard work!! It is appreciated!!
I have 9-6-1998 Knoxville, but of course I don't have the encores you're looking for. I'm sorry. So (*bump*, naturally), soes anyone have an actual version with the encores ("Go"/"Rearviewmirror"/"Do the Evolution", followed by "Hard to Imagine"/"Black"/"Last Kiss"/"Leaving Here") ?!?
I downloaded the Off Ramp show, 10/22/90 off here... and after redoing all the song titles (they were all wrong, lol) the only thing i need to know is which 'Even Flow' is the soundcheck, and which one is in the setlist? I can't really tell... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've had problems with one of the shows (it's an early one, '91 or '92), with only about ten tracks, all of the tracks are mislabelled and it sounds like there's even a double of one of thesongs, leading me to believe it's a mistake the compiler made or it's another show, if the setlists on pearljam.com are accurate). But the 10/22/90 show is all above board.
Actually, the version of the first show [Oct. 22, 1990 @ the Off-Ramp] was accurate, it just had some extra tracks. I read the readme file in the folder, which indicated that track 4 was the soundcheck "Even Flow", and tracks 5-12 were the night's actual eight song set ("Release"/"Alone"/"Alive"/"Once"/"Even Flow"/"Black"/"Breath"/"[Just a] Girl"). The 13th song is a rough mix of "Brother" from April '91.
If you've gone ahead and changed the track order, I'll just let you know now that the longer version of "Even Flow" is the sound-check before the show (5:38, not the 5:19 "Even Flow" track).
It sure is an AMAZING download, and for all those that don't have it or are interested in an older show, download it for its historical purporses. The first three tracks are not live, they're the Mamasan trilogy demo ("Alive"/"Once [Upon a Time...]/"Footsteps"), recorded just prior to the band's first show. The .txt file indicates they're all tracks from a bootleg called 'Bridges: Epilogue', and that's pretty much nail-on-the-head: it's the evolution of MB/PJ from late '90 to early '91. I just wish there were some more tracks on there from early '91, like the alternate mixes of early 'Ten' songs from the April sessions, since there would have been room on the disc.
Nevertheless, the demo version of "Once" is such a strange anomally, in lieu of the sung verses it has spoken verses, with those of a killer actually confessing to crimes (which aren't actually mentioned in the demo version, unlike the version we know today; the demo is just a man malevolently confessing), and there's even additional characters, with Stone (and possibly Jeff) singing as falsetto detectives/reporters asking in the pre-chorus: "What'd you do? Why'd you do it? What'd you do?"-- before yelling and launching into the choruses, which every time emphasize different syllables in words during the "I could contol myself/I could lose myself" lines, making the song much more exciting... I wish they'd chosen to elaborate on this theme. It's such a different version of "Once" it needs to be heard to believed.
During the bridge, Ed talks both as a judge passing sentence and again as the killer, reacting harshly indifferent about it.
The version of "Alive" is quite unpolished of course, but still pretty basic. In this primal state the "...'of course there is--you're still alive,' she said..." makes it sound as if the maternal presence is putting blame on the son for just existing, and being a reminder of the original father. In the common version, it sounds more like a young man contemplating his existence, not being slandered by his mum. "Footsteps" is relatively in the same form; but at the beginning of the demo someone sneezes and Ed says "Bless you," which inadvertantly adds to the mystique of the third chapter.
For some time I bought into the Mamasan trilogy, and then for a time I figured it was just some bullshit story Ed concocted in the middle of the '92 European tour, since he was exhibiting all kinds of bizarre behaviour around the time, and the setlists were very erratic, and the comments at shows were eccentric to say the least (nothing like Jim Morrison or Tom Cruise, but still disturbing or aloof at times).
But after hearing this demo, included in the 10-22-90 download, it's obvious they are chapters in a story. Unfortunately, it's only the three songs, I believe there are two more chapters in the 'Mamasan Trilogy' (IMO, it's actually a 'Mamasan Pentalogy'), if the sources on the net are correct the original tape included two more songs (the original order of the demo tape was: "Black"/"Alive"/"Once"/"Footsteps"/"Alone"), so I'd be interested to hear the original source tape. I think there were at least two different tapes the band did in a rehearsal space the week prior to their on-stage debut, so the five song tape may be another cassette altogether... I thought one tape was five tracks and the other was eight or nine songs. The theme of "Black", which proceeds "Alive" in the sequence, not only reflects upon love lost but also is purported to be a semi-autobiographic license demonstrating a young man's emotions following an abortion and the loss of his child. I still believe it precedes "Alive" in the story. "Alone" is pretty easy to decipher, but perhaps it's the perspective of an individual's loss (say the killer from "Once" and "Footsteps" murdered 'Nicole', and this third party has to deal with permanent loss; his girlfriend was murdered by the killer in the trilogy). It's five tales of loss:
I) the unborn child of the protagonist
II) the loss of the protagonist's estranged father
III) the loss of one's control, and a toll of victims
IV) the last days of the protagonist, the loss of himself by execution
V) the loss of a murdered lover, by the perspective of another protagonist
The theme of "Alone" brings the entire story full-circle. It's up to him to either continue (by passing on the abuse and doing what the original killer did, and becoming a killer himself), or having the strength to break the chain, but perhaps it devastates him so much that he becomes a shell of man. Chapter VI therefore would either be "Nothingman" or "Indifference". "Sad [Letter to the Dead]" would also fit. Any ideas?
Speaking of "Black", it should be noted that the version in the first show is only partial (the guy taping the show even says at the beginning it's only about half a song), and it comes in after the first chorus and starts at the second verse, leading off into the to-do-do-to-do-do's before the band breaks into "Breath".
Ya ain't talkin' no jive, my man, these guys are hip to the sound. I request not one, or two, or three but EIGHT requests and my prescription is filled within hours. I can dig it; Riotmac and I'm Gone are truly amazing people. And artwork to boot!
Now I just have to find out which shows I have that aren't uploaded already. Magnificent bastards, they are.
set: Long Road, Corduroy, Brain of J, Given to Fly, Animal, Red Mosquito, Jeremy, Whipping, Wishlist, Lukin, Even Flow, Habit, MFC, Present Tense, Daughter/(My Heart Will Go On)/(Monkey Gone to Heaven), Better Man, Alive
enc 1: Go, RVM, Do the Evolution, Hard to Imagine, Black, Last Kiss
enc 2: Leaving Here
notes: After 'Brain of J,' Ed steps up and says, "I hate to say it, but you guys are kinda quiet," but after the first encore he says, "I knew you guys would liven up." He messes up the second verse in 'Even Flow,' forgets it completely and gets the next one right (with the crowd helping) and looks out and says, "Got that fucker right, didn't I?" The 'Habit' line is along the lines of "speaking as a man who loves everyone regardless of race, creed, color or sexual preference." After 'MFC,' Ed takes a swig of beer and a woman yells, "Hey, Ed! Gimme some of that beer," prompting him to respond: "What? All I heard was 'Hey, Ed. Gimme some of that either beer, pick or your dick' ... and I got lots of beer, lots of picks and only one dick ... and I ain't wasting it on a boring ass place like Knoxville." After the next song, Ed singles her out and gives her his pick. Ed talks about how there isn't much to do in Knoxville on a Saturday night. He says he watched SNL and masturbated. 'My Heart Will Go On' is the Celine Dion (Titanic theme) song ("near, far, wherever you are ...) !!! During 'Alive,' Ed notices a fan a Cubs jersey and mouths "Cubbie fan?" The dude says "yeah" and Ed mouths "Atta boy." During 'RVM,' Stone is dazed-looking during the jam, and Ed steps up and stares at his hands as he plays. Stone startles, noticing Ed and they both die laughing and Ed mouths "Rock on, son." 'Hard to Imagine' is introduces as as song that probably "only 1 or 2 or 10 or 20" people in the audience has heard before. Mike has difficulty with his typically long solo during 'Black,' so he cuts it short, looking frustrated. Ed introduces 'Last Kiss' by saying he used to think 'Black' was the saddest song he had ever heard until he heard 'Last Kiss.' Thompson-Boiling Arena is the home of the Univ. of TN basketball champions and Ed picks up on this, noting that "women kick ass in this building," leading to 'Leaving Here.' All night PJ is in great spirits, with Ed fucking around with the crowd up front ... lots of picks tossed out and spit flying. Mike seemed to have trouble with his sound as he cuts his solos down quite a bit, but still plays in fine form. Ed and Stone kept breaking guitar strings.
"hear my name, take a good look, this could be the day."

Hi guys... first of all, let me just say, this is an amazing thread and thanks to you all for spreading the jam.
I have a quick question: Does anyone have any of the gigs Pearl Jam did with Neil Young on his '95 European tour? I'm currently reading Uncle Neil's biog and apparently the Dublin '95 gig was filmed too and is still unreleased.
Would anyone have any boots from any dates on this tour?
Sorry if this was requested before and thanks in advance for the help.
Thanks to RiotMac for uploading the FL show WITH the encores. Huzzah! The earlier upload (saying something like "is this the show with the encores?") did not have the encores; in fact when I unzipped it the head directory file said something like 'Knoxville - No Encores'. This, not to mention the fact that that file folder was the same as the one I had on my HD, lead me to believe there were no encores in the download). Only took a day for me to figure it out!
Oh, for heaven's sake, PLEASE continue with the artwork for these '96 shows. They are top-shelf. The only thing about the Cork artwork was the splitting of the discs (there was only a few songs in the encore to go on the second disc, so the first disc in the set is filled up but the second disc has only five songs on it, and one is just over a minute long). I realize one needed to utilize where the 'Encore Break' file was, but still, I wished it could have been split more evenly--Say:
Disc 1 - Intro/Sometimes/Last Exit/Spin the Black Circle/Hail Hail/Tremor Christ/In My Tree/Corduroy/Betterman/Not For You/Animal/Dissident/Daughter/Habit, 14 tracks @ 55mins
It's about the only other place for an alternate cut: at the end of "Daughter", Eddie tells the crowd they're going to play a new track, "Habit", and though there is no fade out at the end of "Habit", there's still 15-20 seconds of wait-time.
Overall, it's just nitpicking. I'm very grateful for the shows, and the artwork is like a cherry on top of the Sundae, very well done. I hope to make use of them soon! Thanks again, much love.
_____________________________________ EDIT:
I've just seen the artwork posts on http://www.pearljambootlegs.blogspot.com/ for the 11-13-1996 Milan and 11-25-1996 Portugal sent in by Riot Mac, I presume. VERY TASTY again, gents.
I not arguing over lossy formats or the entire mp3 vs m4a. I don't care; frankly, I'm happy just to have these shows. I think there are some highlight shows from 1991-1995, and I'd love someone to point out which ones are a MUST (I know Soldier Field 7-11-95 and NYC 9-11-98 are two of the most recognized shows, but my versions are noisy handheld recordings, are the links here soundboard?).
With 'No Code', the band really created a mature album. I didn't take to it at first, it took a couple of years actually and I still hate "Around the Bend" with a passion, but by listening to these 1996 tour shows I can feel the raw energy in them, they're all pretty stellar venues and really have some fine moments, in my opinion. I love the '96 shows. I know some here are more partial to the '98 tour, a lot of people went to their first PJ concerts during that period, but '96-'98, those were the years the band evolved from their so-called grunge roots and became monsters in the world of Rock 'N Roll! Thanks a million-point-two-three, fellow jammers.

Hey all,
First of all thanks to everyone who is putting in their hard earned upload time for these concerts.
I've recently been to my first couple of shows ever during the european tour and got to see the band play little wing in madrid, ever since i've been trying to find all the times they played little wing.
The second day in Milwaukee it was played and it looks like a bitchin concert even without that. The fact that its expired means that people have probably thought the same thing. Long (sad) story short, its expired - can anyone reupload it?
Thanks,
Amir

Does anyone have the CD cover scans for the 2003 Tour? I have posted this in about every forum on here but i can't get anyone to respond. I'm sure someone has them or knows where I could get them, please...
This is the concert PJ played the day Kurt Cobain was found dead. It was at George Mason University in Alexandria, VA. If anyone has it, I would like to get it. I have a poorly done video of it with terrible audio, but would like a clean version. Thank you.

The dude says "yeah" and Ed mouths "Atta boy." During 'RVM,' Stone is dazed-looking during the jam, and Ed steps up and stares at his hands as he plays. Ed and Stone kept breaking guitar strings.

not the best recording, but a recording nonetheless...
Disc 2 - Rearviewmirror/Jeremy/Alive/Porch/Encore Break/I Got Shit/Lukin/Even Flow/Present Tense/Yellow Ledbetter - 10 tracks @ 51min

EDIT:
The Bible is full of lies - Stone is the leader of us all!

Thanks,
Amir
