I just saw a tweet from a CBC producer saying he will be featuring a new Pearl Jam song in the opening of Hockey night in Canada tomorrow night at 7pm.

It's a bit funny how quickly I got used to the new HNIC theme song that they introduced a few years ago (when they lost the rights to the original HNIC song.. because TSN outbid them).
Now it's a few years later and it doesn't seem to matter. I guess they'll be playing a PJ song in place of that tomorrow? The new HNIC tune definitely grew on me. Clever move by CBC to do a contest and own the rights and not have to worry about licensing. Then again they might lose hockey after this year.......0 -

It's because the new theme they came out with is actually pretty good. It fits, and its catchy.
I kinda do hope they lose the rights to HNIC to be honest, the overall production value of TSN coupled with the fact that all their analysts are better, makes it a no brainer.{if (work != 0) {

is it gonna be CBC Montreal or Ottawa?
They are talking about Habs/predators and Leafs/Blackawks game.

Usually the first 5 mins are the same across all cbc networks before they cut to the regional games. They usually open up with a musically montage from a different band each week. Im curious to know what song.FitPearl wrote:is it gonna be CBC Montreal or Ottawa?

How do Jim Hughson and Glenn Healy have jobs? They're the worst. Bring back Bob Cole and Harry Neale. Those two were the best of the best.
Oh, and the new(ish) theme song is pretty catchy.0 -
I dont like Hughson. I want to, but I just cant.
Bob Cole is still the shit.
Cant wait to watch this
I thought the loss of the theme was the end of the world, but it didnt turn out too bad. Would love to see it back though0 -
Bob Cole used to be good but the game has passed him by and he sounds lost now. His voice is just iconic and people associate with nostalgia, so they think hes still good.
Stuff of legend right here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiu1S70O6XU{if (work != 0) {

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I like HNIC on CBC. Living in Washington State we get CBC here but not TSN. Would miss out on my Don Cherry. How would I get to watch Republic of DoyleEquallyWorthless wrote:Zod wrote:It's a bit funny how quickly I got used to the new HNIC theme song that they introduced a few years ago (when they lost the rights to the original HNIC song.. because TSN outbid them).

Based on past HNIC song mash-ups and tempo of those songs I'm guessing "Lightning Bolt" would work pretty well.0

Yep - it's going to be LB. No doubt about it.Bennyorr4 wrote:Based on past HNIC song mash-ups and tempo of those songs I'm guessing "Lightning Bolt" would work pretty well.
Also - Hughson is great. It's not as good as the old days with Cole/Neale - but Hughson is very good.
The problem is PJ Stock. He is a national embarassment.0 -
