The Firehouse Virgin Records Yield Promo!

however with a catch.
There are some stains on it.... but they really dont seem too significant, at least in the photos.

*Note, not an active auction, please dont lock
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pearl-Jam-Virgin-Records-Exclusive-1998-Playing-Card-Poster-Has-Dirt-Stains-/271295536374?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=fNixS8KtFO92fW6i%252FFV9WKFQvXs%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

I got it for about 1/3 of what it usually goes for, which I never can pull the trigger for, so this was my only real chance.

Anyone got any ideas to possibly clean/restore this?

    Nice!
I was all over that watching it hoping I could snag it for $150 but with a day left, someone bid on it.
I would be perfectly fine with those stains for that price as they look minimal.
    Enjoy.

    thanks.

I have a feeling they will be a bit more of an eyesore in person... but who knows? The whole poster has a bit of a rustic look anyways.

It makes me feel better other people were bidding/interested. It stuck at 150 the whole time and the last day it bid up to 200 hours before, and 1 bid for me at the end got it.

There are companies that do poster restoration and may be able able to "clean-up" the print. I think someone on the board used one of those to get a 98 Hartford print repaired. I don't think it was cheap but he was getting tears repaired and the print looked good afterward the work was done.

    Awesome, congrats

I went to bed last night high bidder for my holy grail...woke up to a loss.

Not really my "holy grail", as in I NEED this now...just the poster I've always wanted. First time I've seen it go for under $100 and winner got it for under $70 shipped

    Youll get it.
I have been tracking this one for about 7 years. Never thought it would happen, didnt want to pay 5 bills + for a poster nowadays with mortgage, baby, etc...

Thought I would have massive buyer's remorse, but I feel great about this, actually.

Gonna have to sell off some of my stash in the coming weeks though.

  • Congrats fellow Sabres fan! I know the feeling. I just scored a NM copy of Binaural for $150. One of my favorite albums of all time.

    I am considering that.

Part of the 'legend' of this poster is it was given out in a rainstorm, thus thinning out the ranks.

Also, I like how the seller stated that he has been the only owner of it

Which Kozik? I've noticed the RHCP/Nirvana/PJ NYE poster on there a few times. I actually have an extra one of those if that's the print you were stalking - let me know. Link to it (and my other ISO items) is in this thread:

That was me! The company I used is called poster fix. They have a site and videos on you tube. The guy who runs the company works at his own pace so be warned it could take a while. I was told 6 weeks and it was like 4-5 months and two phone calls to get my print back but he saved it!

Well, I received the poster today.

It was shipped in a flattened box. During shipping they must have folded the box. There are severe creases/bends both horizontally and vertically, and one corner (top right) is bent.

    :(

  • What a shame... How hard would it have been to write "DO NOT BEND" on both side of the box?

    It sucks.

I dont know what to do. I quickly wrote the seller an email through ebay to inform him.

So bummed out though. Was happy paying $200 for the stained version... definitely not for the creased one. Its pretty much worthless to me now.

How much do those restoration places typically charge?
  • Damn dude, I am so sorry to read this. I hope this somehow gets rectified one way or another for you.
Mine is mine and yours won't take it's place

I am pretty sure he/she will be cool about it.

They were so up front and thorough describing the 'wounds'. They also have >1,000 transctions.

We will see though. Ebay never ceases to amaze me... and I am shocked they would ship this in such an amateurish way.

Was just looking to see if it is salvageable, but the creases have defaced the print itself. Not just bent. It is worst going across the heart there and the up through the Jack's crown

Dude that sucks... I saw that auction and was tempted to bid on it. I'm sure you have a good case with paypal if the seller doesn't make it right.

I got kind of an automated response from the seller, explaining the exhaustively described the damages to the print...

I had to reply explaining again that the creases are new, and were not in the description, and were a result of not properly supporting the print or writing 'do not bend'

    not a good start

That stinks! Hopefully some restoration work can fix some of those problems. Good luck!

That sucks. What an awful way to pack and ship a poster. I think you can make a strong case with Paypal for a refund if you want one.
