  • tonight was CRAZY. UNBELIEVABLE. I loved it! kicked melbourne 1's butt!!! my faves were dissident and present tense i reckon. i am hanging out for breath and in my tree in adelaide................
EVENFLOW MEMBER #009 and i'm LOVIN the new PJ!!!! avacado all the way!!

i know someday you'll have a beautiful life,
    i HOPE you'll be a star,
in somebody elses sky, but why, why, why can't it be, why can't it be mine?!
  • and i have to congratulate tonight's crowd. they WENT OFF!!!! lol me n my friend kept moving up the aisle to get closer to mike and the secuirty guard kept chucking us back but we didn't give up!!! and eventually a couple of others up closer offered us their seats cos they were going off to stand!!! so i thank the generous, awesome, fun-loving crowd that was melbourne #3!!!! the show couldn't have had a better atmosphere, and you could tell that the band seemed to feel like they had finally 'succeeded' or whatever with the crowd. good work guys :D:D:D:D:D

when I heard the first cord of present tense I just looked the the roof in disbelief. I've waited 14 shows for it, watched them in 5 countries and finally get it on my final show in my own back yard.

That is what it is all about!

28 + wasted reprise. pearl jam delivered with another monster set.
I got shit was replaced by Sad (as per the request on a banner)
Leavin here was on 2nd encore but not played
Porch was left off 1st Enc closer and changed for Jams
Ed tossed the mic to Gus AGAIN for SOLAT.
Ed's voice sounded like it is starting to feel the pinch of a long tour. was pretty croaky in his chats to the crowd. unbelievable that he still managaed to punch out 29 songs. wow.
    crowd was really good.
Ed said that they probably wont be back in oz for "yonks" but still wants to come back some day so they can play rod laver with the roof open.
Between RITFW and YL, Ed played a game on stage where he wedged a 50c coin between his arse cheeks and tried to drop it in a cup. classic.

    This looks good. :)

well they have toured here for the last 2 albums what do u expect.....
Being the (how should I put it) later years of their careers, I would hope they'll come back with every release. It's not like they release an album a year or anything.....in my dreams!! When I say this, I also appreciate the fact that touring is a huge thing and that they are all (except Jeff) Dad's or soon to be Dads.... I respect that, but I'm just saying what I'd like...not saying that they should. If I had it my way, they'd all move to Australia and play all the time :)
  • very nice :o

gus AGAIN with solat? hahaaha!!

get better judd :o (and lifewasted)

i got weird stares in the U2 merch line :D 'oh my goooood present tense' :D

I'm hopefully relaying for a bit of tonight - back home in Adelaide for a conference, supposed to have flown back this afternoon to Melbourne for tonights show but illness has struck me down! Trying to recover for the Adelaide > Perth home stretch. Had a snooze and raring to go for tonight's setlist - let's hope for my sake they don't pull out something ridiculous ;)

    MAIN SET

    Long Road
    Corduroy
    Hail Hail
    Do The Evolution

you Aussies are WEAK... there is not one person on this board from the east coast USA that would miss THIS show because they were sick

you should be ashamed of your self :D

    hey Judd
the concert was awesome but the after party was even better! especially Ed playing drinking games at the end and drinking an entire bottle of wine in one go simply because of peer pressure (i.e. Jeff and the crowds pressure) :):):)
120+ PJ fans in one small melbourne pub singing and gettin to know each other!
    Awesome
Shame you couldnt be there, hope the tonsilitis is better
was a shame i couldnt meet you since i've been chatting to ya for a over a year now
    catch ya in perth champ!!!
I had it all once I gave it back

I'll write a full review later (it's 620am and about to fly back to Sydney), but comparitively the Melb3 show last night _rocked_ the first Sydney show, I think the difference was the energy displayed by the crowd in the encores. I haven't seen Alive rocked out to that hard for a while.

Highlights for me definately Present Tense, Off He Goes, Alive, Ledbetter and Eddie's drinking games (even Stone tried at the end).

Great stuff Melbourne, now off to Sydney3 to see if we Sydneyites can give the boys something to remember... please oh please I'm 6th row in front of Mike :)
    Seattle 6-11-2000
    Sydney 12-3-1998, 13-2-2003, 7-11-2006, 18-11-2006, 22-11-2009
    Melbourne 16-11-2006

    'Holier than thou, how?'
  • Over the 3 Melbourne shows 6 songs were played at all 3 shows, they played 7 at both sydney shows, but i think about 10 were repeated at the 2 brissie shows. but here are the 6 played at all 3 melb shows:

Corduroy, Given to Fly, Do the Evolution, Even Flow, Life Wasted, Alive

After the first couple of nights, I wasn't sure what to expect on the third night in Melbourne. They played six songs off 'Ten' on Night #1, and then half of 'Vs.' on Night #2, so I wasn't sure what they had planned for the finale.

More or less a grab bag, no focus on any one album (counting "Reprise", five songs from both 'Avocado' and 'Ten'), but still a lot of general focus on older material with a few nice surprises.

With now less than five shows left in Oz and handful of shows before the year rolls over, it appears in vain, I've all but given up the ghost for a chance of hearing "Sometimes" before 2007 comes.

What's a fan to do? How do I bait a band into doing my bidding? Voodoo? Witchcraft? Rohypnol and habu-sake?

I'm serious, I could be out looking for the panacea to treat all humankind, but instead I'm here a-waiting... and listening... just waiting for the cue to begin the race.

    I plead my case again.

    Nice!

Thanks for that, that Gus is one lucky fucker! he got to spend the whole of brissie night one next to Zig!

YEAH!!!! He's one lucky guy! I think next time he wants to give all his spare tickets to me because I was THE HIGHLIGHT of his whole tour so far. He just rang me and told me that! :D

  • I AM WITHOUT SPEECH!!!

Last night BLEW me away - Thanks sooooo much Pearl Jam, Ed brought me to tears during Black and his chat 'pre' Life Wated Reprise but as usual close to tears of "absolute joy" watching those guys on stage just kick it out again and again, not to mention tears of laughter with the 'butt crack coin trick'......alll in alll a very emotional but FUCKING INSANE show!!!

Need not relay set list and highlights - if you read it, it is pretty clear.....A1 !!

    Bring on Newcastle!!

P.S - could work be any harder today? can't focus, keep sliping into flashbacks of the last 4 incredible shows!!!!!!!

  • Did anyone see Ed up on Boom's stool - i think in RITFW - jump off & slam onto the stage floor on his side? Hahaha, but maybe his body's not cut out for that anymore - he stayed down for about 30secs!
It was obvious he was having a good time.....& Mike was absolutely bouncing!

I'm so sad my Pearl Jam fix has ended :(
  • I was in row R and saw ed fall!!! I was like oh shit! hehehe. Atleast he did get up though..

I was blown away last night.. It was just unbelievable. I was beyond capable of words when htey played present tense... I had my fingers crossed for Black, present tense and rearview mirror... So needless to say i left the concert one happy chick!!!

And i have to say, if i had one opportunity to meet pearl jam, i would just simply shake their hands and say thank you for the music. I hope they will tour again even if it is in a few years, I would do anything to see them.. If only i was like a rich girl hehe i would go to every gig possible, spend my whole life jetting around the world to see pearl jam. Even if for just one tour.

The atmosphere was just amazing, so everyone at Melb 3 last night... Thank you for a wonderful atmosphere!!! hope to meet again :)

And I listen for the voice inside my head. Nothing. I'll do this one myself.
  • I think i shall definitely be buying the bootlegs for Melb 2 and 3...primarily for Long Road and Indifference :D

That was a great fall eh!?
Its been Yonks!!! Since I have seen them live- yes I know slack as!
Restored my faith…. Not that I had ever lost it!
    Its just been so long....
It made me remember several things- how much power and presence these blokes have, and I am so glad they use it for good and not evil.
I STILL love Jeff Ament after all these years that never goes away.
The 50 cent game was hilarious! both Eddie and Stone havin a crack at it. Good to see Eddie come through with the large skulling of red wine after failing at the arse crack 50 cent game. It’s a hard game to master!
Oh Yeah and then there was the music! how could I forget!!!

Love your work boys, lovins from the Chick in a red halter neck blowing kisses at Jeff. – and the rest of them but mainly Jeff!
I am still listening to Nova HOPING that the guys may come back on again.... my hope fades me thinks but hey Jet are on so its all good!!!
Peace love and good vibes, Ainslie D
