That area does have the best tailgaiting. We went to San Diego in '06 and I tried to start a "San Diego Tailgating Thread" I had no responses and when we got there, there was hardly no tailgaiting. We park at the top of a parking garage and had to hide our beers any time a car rolled by because the cops were busting our balls.
I think it's the scenery that does it for me. A nice warm day, next to the river, the Ben Frankin bridge, the city skyline. Beer, food, and a night full of Pearl Jam!!!
Cant wait!!
couldent agree more, went to east rutherford 06, was a shitty tailgating day but we had a screened in tent. it was very low key except for the crew from long island that we hooked up with, they definatly could hang!
the vic had nobody tailgating at all except myself, my friend and another philly dude who had won the mmr contest. lucky for us, his friend wasnt a drinker so he held our spot in the around the block line while we enjoyed our beverages.

Small my table, seats just 3, its not crowded, its just lucky me

The Hyatt is about a few blocks walk from Olde City. Lots of bars there. There's really all types from trendy martini bars to margarita bars to the Khyber where they usually have live music (mostly punk and metal) to Buffalo Billiards which is as you can guess a bar with a lot of pool tables and there's also a few dance clubs down there. Personally I like Eulogy but I'm a big fan of Belgian beers.

Ahhhh Eulogy.. the home of $7 La Chouffe and whatever that birdsnest appetizer I had was called.... But Olde City is a great place to stay in the city, always something going on and nice selection of bars and clubs to hang out and relax.

5/23/2011- An utter embarrassment... ticketing failures too many to list.
I'm just recently arrived in Philly from Ireland and am here for the forseeable future - I've never seen PJ in USA before and am used the way wee irish do things so i'll for sure join anyone's party.
I left Ireland the day the tickets went on sale so couldn't get ten club tics only managed to get lawn tickets so i have no idea what to expect- a good tailgate session though might make up for it ...... so where and when do we party?

Did you ever see William Wallace while you were over there?
I know the show is on a Thursday, and that will put a damper on tailgating, but is anyone planning on taking the day off and having a kick ass tailgate party???
I am taking Thirsday and Friday off, Ill be driving up from Virginia, so i have nothing else to do but drink and get reaady to jam!!!

How close is Hyatt to venue???
PEARL JAM in 2024! Dark Matter and MORE ! THANK YOU!! Peace Love & Pearl Jam forever!!
Two days of decadence... I will be raising the red tent... margaritas, beer, and more will be served! Philly/ Camden knows how to host a party!! Tenth Aniversary (1998-2008)
The Hyatt Regency Penn's Landing is just a couple minutes walk from the ferry. I'd ferry it myself, unless your car is home base for a tailgate. Traffic in Camden when there are 22,000 fans at the S-Center BLOWS! Re: The Hyatt, It's the most centrally located Penns Landing , by the water ,hotel. It's a short 10-15 minute drive, traffic can be heavy in the area, to the Ben Franklin Bridge if you choose to drive. I believe bridge access is around 4th and Arch Sts. Follow the signs to the Susquehanna Center. Not sure about bars in the Hyatt area, but Olde City and Queen Village start on the opposite side of Columbus Blvd. Also, don't know who is travelling with you , but Rick's Cabaret and Delilah's Den are Gentleman's clubs a short drive from the Hyatt. Rick's on Columbus Blvd. and Delilah's around Spring Garden St. if memory serves.

Regarding bars, clubs close to the Hyatt, not sure how I forgot Dave and Busters , which is HUGE , and is about 5 minutes drive north on Columbus Blvd/Delaware Avenue.

Has anyone ever used the PATCO subway to get from Philly to Camden and back?
The website says the "Broadway" stop is walking distance to the venue, but I wasn't sure if it's a safe walk (especially late at night, after the show). I'll have my wife with me.
Thanks!

I use PATCO all the time. Both the Broadway and City Hall stops are very close, safe walks to/from the venue. The routes are usually lined with police directing traffic as well, so you'll be fine.
Camden I '06, Camden II '06, Bonnaroo '08, Camden I '08, Camden II '08, Philly Spectrum II/III/IV '09, MSG I '10, MSG II '10, Made In America '12, Wrigley '13, Brooklyn II '13, Philly I '13, Philly II '13, ...
Thanks, GtC. Do you know which stop is closer to the venue? I assume Broadway.
Broadway is closer to the venue itself, but it depends on where you're tailgating. If you plan to tailgate in the Campbell's Field lots where most of the action is, I'd take City Hall cuz it'll save you a couple of blocks of walking. If your lot is really close to the venue or you plan to go straight to the show, I'd take Broadway.
