I hope not, as playing festivals is always a bad idea.

It's always rumoured, Emily Eavis said last week they were on holiday down by me and were receiving calls about booking the headliners, so contracts are not signed yet.
I think the ethical and charitable ethos side of Glastonbury fits PJ, but they would find it very difficult if not impossible to get anything ticketwise for 10C so there would be a lot of very disappointed fans. Plus I'm not sure if Glastonbury would see them as big enough headliners with the demographics of their ticket holders.
I think it would be good for PJ to play the O2 again (I prefer the venue to the MEN) but we shall no doubt be happy if they play a gig we can get tickets to.
(and yes, we would all love them to play close to our homes or in specific areas/parts of the UK but we have to acknowledge we've been very lucky to have had so many shows in a relatively small geographical area over the last six years)
2009 - Manchester. 2010 - Dublin, Belfast, London, Berlin, Arras, Werchter. 2011 - PJ20 i & ii, Montreal, Toronto i & ii, Ottawa, Hamilton. 2012 - Manchester i & ii, Berlin i & ii, Stockholm. 2014 - Amsterdam i & ii, Trieste, Vienna, Berlin, Leeds, Milton Keynes. 2016 - Boston Fenway i & ii, 2018 - Amsterdam i & ii, Pinkpop, London i & ii, Padova, Krakow, Barcelona, Seattle i & ii.
its about time they came to scotland.one major show in over 20 years is very poor.
Scotland would be a dream come true. We're better equipped for gigs now with the Hydro Arena opening this week. I can't see them ever playing Glastonbury to be honest but you never know. I could see them playing Hard Rock Calling again though which although not a popular choice wouldn't really bother me. Hyde Park 10 was a great day out. I'd still much rather see a couple of arena shows any day though. Glasgow Hydro and London 02 please....
Like a book among the many on a shelf...
Dublin 02 Arena - 22/6/10. Belfast Odyssey Arena - 23/6/10. London Hyde Park - 25/6/10. Berlin Wuhlheide - 30/6/10.
Manchester MEN - 20/06/12. Manchester MEN - 21/06/12

Would hard rock calling rule out any scottish or english arena shows ? last time they played belfast but no mainland shows ?

I know they had exclusivity in 2010 so filled the gaps with the Irish dates but I don't know if that's something they can negotiate on? There was no problems last year with doing Manchester and IOW but I suppose if it had been a festival on the mainland it may have been different. I'm pretty sure they'll play festivals somewhere if they come over and Pinkpop is rumoured again. I think given the nature of how Glastonbury sell tickets and the type of headliners they generally go for it would seem a very unusual choice if they went with PJ next year. My guess would be London, Manchester and Dublin for close to home shows. Scotland seems to be off PJ's radar now. Two shows in over 20 years tells it's own story..

Lets hope they blank Glasto....no day tickets and a festival attractive to the trendies at this point.
Would much prefer another hard rock calling than a trip to Somerset.
Ive had some of the best times ever at Glasto in the 90's, but as time wore on and its popularity became mainstream for the city dudes to have a crazy weekend in a field, the festival became a shitfest. Perhaps it was due to Emily coming on board, I know for a fact things were way better under Michael solely.

I would expect the usual weekend festivals and midweek arenas, pinkpop is early June I think which is a bit earlier than PJ are usually here
Hard Rock have withdrawn their sponsorship so the people who organise the 'calling' events are searching for a replacement, they want to stay at the Olympic Park like this year due the issues with Hyde Park. There's no guarantee they'll run any events in 2014 atm apparently :?
Each festival have their own contractual terms, so we'll see I guess! They'll defo be doing some if they do come sometime between May and August.
The Hydro looks like a great venue (though I'll not enter the 'play Scotland' debate as I'll annoy people ), it's availability will be the issue as it is a Commonwealth Games venue.

C'mon guys, wouldn't you be happy if they come at all? :fp:
Just for Glasto? Nope.
Massive ticket prices, for an outdoor show. No thanks.

yeah the hydro looks very impressive and has already attracted some big bands.my only concern is it apparently only has about 1000 standing.i dont really understand why they dont come to scotland the show in 2000 was amazing!.i actually promised not to see them again until they played scotland but relented last year and went to the manchester shows, now gutted i missed all those shows down south!.i would love to see them play a show at the barrowlands they would blow the place away.

didnt even think of that it may be closed to prepare for the games i see theres currently nothing booked from June-September
I really don't think they are known well enough in the mainstream and if the Foo's are there next year that would cut the odds even further, Reading is one thing but not Glastonbury. Of course I'd like to see it happen, especially if they did a warm up secret set at Williams Green.
I am going to buck the trend and say it would be amazing if PJ played Glastonbury. It's the world's biggest music/arts festival. It's a massive anomaly that a group so amazing live has never played it. As Dottles rightly says the ethos of Glastonbury fits really well with the band - and I am sure they would go down a storm. Also in terms of coverage - the BBC does a great job - it would give some great exposure to the band we love!
I would love to see it too, especially if 10c were able to give us a little heads up in time to apply for tickets. The build up and coverage of the festival is unrivaled in the UK and it would be a shame if the band didn't play it at one point. Hopefully this would be part of a wider Euro tour so we'd all get chance to see them.
Apparently the headliners for next year have been lined up already. And it won't be the Foos, they'll have to wait until the year after.
Would be nice to have any UK dates. Have travelled to see them 7 times since 2006 so a glasgow show would be ideal. Especially with the HYDRO being very similar to the First Direct Arena.

With who exactly? The vast majority would not have a clue who they are.
Why would people need to know who they were to enjoy them? Surely that's the whole point - the band would get exposure to a whole new generation of potential fans. PJ's live performances stand up to any of the newer batch of bands IMHO.

Agreed I had the time of my life last year even if it means a long train journey.
MEN Arena 20-21/06/12
Leeds 08/07/14
Milton Keynes 11/07/14
Mexico City 28/11/15
EV London 6-7/6/17
Be good if they did Glasto and then did a Ten Club only warm-up show at Manchester Apollo!

Plus Eavis is believed to have already signed the Foos for next year so having PJ on really aint going to happen in the same year.
PJ would have destroyed Glasto in the 90s, its a shadow of its former self these days.

I think the days where they would fit in there are long gone. Way past it happening now.
Glastonbury is full of mainstream, bland, commercial music in terms of the main two stages.
And there's been a big shift from guitar music to electronic.
It's a massive no from me. Not the right place for them at all. No way.
