Sunny Day Real Estate's first 2 albums beg to differ.

Rites of Spring beg to differ with all that, haha.

Why can't they all be great?

    First doesn't always = best

Haha, true but if we're talking best then Jimmy Eat World circa '97-'99 can't go unmentioned. Speaking of that band 'Static Prevails' was a pretty awesome 90's sophomore release.

Besides VS, I would say the Foo Fighter's "There is Nothing Left to Lose" My favorite Foo's record by far. Not a huge fan of their first album.
Foo's sophomore album was "The Colour and the Shape" and it's awesome - it was their best album to date IMO, and produced their biggest hit - Everlong.

thefixer9 - There's Nothing Left To Lose was their third album, but also a great record! :D

Damn!! I guess it was too early in the morning for me...

Thanks though! I always forget about that album though...even though it's a great one! And hey, another fellow Everett fan!

    Oh, and The Downward Spiral!

    Unless you count Broken

(freaking 5+ song EPs...count 'em or no?)

No... it's an EP... really served it's purpose showing what was to come.

  • Tripping Daisy - I Am An Elastic Firecracker

Great psychedelic/punk band from Dallas area.. AWESOME live shows.. Still one of my favorite albums..

Seems to me if most of these 90's albums came out today, they'd blow away almost anything released in the last 13 years!!

Pond - The Practice of Joy Before Death
Sunny Day Real Estate - LP2

and a lesser known band I loved in college:

The guy from Pond makes my coffee when I go into Portland.

I haven't heard Shootyz Groove mentioned in a long time.

    My Choices are:

    Vs.
    Siamese Dream
    311 - Grassroots
    Sublime - 40oz to Freedom.
    RATM - Evil Empire

I'm pretty sure they've all been said. My favorites. They're all excellent from front to back.

    PJ - Vs
    Nirvana - Nevermind
    STP - Purple
    Live - Throwing Copper
    AIC - Dirt
    Black Crowes - Southern Harmony
    DMB - Crash
    Radiohead - The Bends
    Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
    Wilco - Being There

If I had to pick a favorite it would be Siamese Dream.
  • A lot of really fucking good albums listed in this thread; I still listen to most of 'em regularly.... hate to see those EP's disqualified....but atm, if we're not counting Opiate, I'm goin with Aenima.

I'm going with Siamese Dream as its one of my all time faves.

Most of my faves have been named, but here are two that were missed:

Hum - You'd Prefer an Astronaut
    Bush - Razorblade Suitcase

Some might not agree with the Bush, but personally I loved that album.

Oooh, one more - Helmet - Meantime
