  • I had without a doubt the best hot pastrami and Swiss with mustard on rye that I have ever had in my entire life today. Absolutely melt in your mouth tender. Outrageously good! Hand carved in front of my eyes. We went to katz's deli in NYC. The line was out the door and down the block. They have an amazing system of taking a ticket and ordering and paying on your way out. This really kept the line moving. While it was the most money I've ever spent at a deli, I know I'll go back as it was sooooo yummy! You should try it if you're in the neighborhood.

    best sandwiches is home cooked gamon sandwiches.
    By gamon and boil 15 minuts per pound
    then score the gamon and glaze with honey and touch of dijon mustard and between each score insert 1 clove
    and bake till golden.
    There is nothing like your own gamon sandwich afterwards ;)

    I googled "gamon" and only saw results relating to world of warcraft.
    Unless you are eating video game characters, what is this gamon you speak of?

    The issue was spelling;
    the proper word is gammon,
    + here's what I learned about it...
    Even though gammon comes from the hind leg, it is not considered a true ham because it is cured as part of one side of the pig or the whole pig. Once it is cured, the gammon (hind leg) is cut off the side or whole pig and sold as a separate cut. It has a mild flavor, is found smoked and unsmoked, and is more perishable than other hams. It is most often boiled when it is prepared.

    Yesterday I had black forest ham with jalapenos topped with provolone and havarti, baked open face. Delish!!
