yeah, try not to let them ruin your evening. I know it's hard. I just wanna know why would you rtyhm clap to a song like Dead Man??? Seriously! I mean that's what was going on at Santa Cruz show. Dead Man wouldn't even be the last song to rythm clap to.

haha i gotta say, I'm tired of the rhythm clapping myself. It's totally cool maybe 2-3 times per show, but not EVERYTIME Eddie starts the bass with his foot. It starts to just get cheesy.

that's just me being super picky though, at PJ/Eddie shows, there isn't much if anything that can ruin my evening:)

yeah they were annoying... but eddie 's replies to them were pretty funny! whether you like it or not, there's going to be crowd interaction at a show, that just a part of seeing a live act. i agree they could have been more respectful though.

You know, don't be surprised if, like, a few years later, during some PJ show, he recognizes you and pulls you up to the stage or something. That guy has a mind sharp like a knife! He actually remembered my sister 2 years after she did their guiding around Istanbul when they played there in 96.

 Just the thought of that gave me goosebumps. I'll be at the Chicago shows, perhaps there:D

yeah ... add the constant flashes - i thought i was gonna go into a seizure ...

i guess it's like everything else - always a small few ruining it for everyone ... thank goodness for ed tho ... his jabs at them are great ... and riot at massey hall, artist plays mandolin is classic ... :)

Yes, I was definately getting ticked at the lack of manners of some people in the crowd. I really wanted to hear what Ed had to say and the constant interruptions were a pain in the ass, but mostly a lack of respect for this amazing artist. He's very witty and had some great remarks, though. Personally, I would have told everyone to shut the fuck up...

The DRUNKEN FRAT BOY SHOW.It wasn't just the guys either. There were some little aggressive and shreaking ladies out there too. As an audience member, noone likes the music to be interrupted. Ed has a crapload of patience.

  • Yeah I was definitely pissed off. With such a small venue, people were taking advantage of the fact that if they actually say something, Ed may actually hear them...and that makes them cream their pants! I was embarrassed for those sh*theads. Great show though....that dumb girl yelling out at him to play her wedding...His remark to that was priceless ..."be happy that someone is even marrying you"...or something like that! My pet peeve is being at a small show and people yelling out requests.

You nailed it! One of the frat boys in front of me yelled in his friend's ear, "Tell Eddie how you feel! This is a one-time chance to yell out how you feel."

In my head I'm thinking, "I'm going to guess that you LOVE EDDIE and I'm going to guess Eddie already knows.. so please shut the fuck up."

Night one Toronto was the worst crowd I've seen. Terrible manners, just utterly disrespectful. He reigned in the crowd on night two but I also think the people just weren't AS annoying on night two.

Uh...I dunno if I agree. I think most if not all of the toronto comments were handled well by ed and he really showed his wit and prowess for handling a crowd and often putting the rest of us in stitches laughing.

I thought both nights were fun, and with a fun crowd.

Night 2 I sat right next to some guy who screamed "ELIZA, I WOULD BANG YOU!" when she came out to sing Helpless with Eddie.

    Classy.

  • Some people just can't behave in public, it's sad but true. However, if Ed mentioned at the beginning of each show that this sort of crap (i.e. random shouting out) is not on and he'll cut the show short if the crowd can't behave itself then it might have an effect. At the very least it'll make the majority police the minority of (usually pi$$ed up) idiots who just seem to be happy in spoiling the night for others.

  • How about the fact that during RITF eddie threw some flowers and there was a guitar pick in it i guess,it landed under my feet and some girl with her BF who werent even fans of Eddie or PJ because they were just standing there when we rushed the front waited till i moved picked it up and smiled. I hope someone knows this chick, i almost punched her lights out

  • And maybe I just think this because my favorite band is Queen, but Eddie really didn't make any eye contact with anyone in the audience it seemed like on night one. Pearl Jam has been a favorite band of mine for over 8 years, I got amazing tickets (Thanks 10c!) and he just stared at the ground for most of the show. It was kind of disappointing.

he stared directly into my camera when i was video taping and like raises his eyebrows 3 or 4 times with a smile. i loved it

I think I saw the end of that, as there was a huge ovation coming from that section and I saw a couple of flash lights and a few shadows moving toward the door

there was a yeller behind me screaming EDDIE EDDIE, you play what you want Eddie, and his girlfriend tried to scream a couple of times and it was god awful, anyways, I had a picture in my mind of them being young and in their early 20s, and when I got up to leave at the end of the show they turned out to be at least in their mid-30s to early 40's

    wtf ?

    annoying

It could have been due to the fact that there were constant camera flashes all over the theatre and it was blinding...just maybe

ha! I know exactly when yer talking about... during Hard Sun right in front of the mic stand on the right of the stage? I saw Ed mugging for someone's camera and I thought that was very cool... and definitely not something he would have done 10 (5??) years ago!

you should upload the vid somewhere! :)

Honestly, there's not a chance that Ed could see anyone in the first 10 rows most of the time. If you ever have a chance to get on a stage when its lit up you'll see what I mean... the artists are practically blinded by the stage lights. Its why Ed will look so vibrant in any photos. :)

The only time he could really see people is when the house lights were up as well... which is why Hard Sun (and Ledbetter at PJ shows) is done this way. Plenty 'o crowd interaction at that point!

So don't be disappointed... it wasn't anything personal. :)
  • Is this lame shit happening in the 10C seats, or up in the balconies? Heading to DC in the morning, just wondering what to expect.

Based on Montreal/Toronto, its mostly the balconies. Then again, its just a shit-load easier to hear those people because of the acoustics.

As someone else mentioned, people are making a bigger deal out of this than need be, IMHO. Ed got a real kick out of some of the comments and seemed to be enjoying the comedy routine at times. But yes, it gets a little out of hand at times.

    Hope DC is great!
  • Night one idiots we bad, but Eddie seemed to take it all in stride with the comebacks. Made me laugh near the end when he said "You fuckers are getting out of control". Some guy near me was screaming out stupid song requests and laughing at himself like he was saying the funniest shit ever. "Lightning Crashes"! was one of these requests.
Night 2, was glad to hear people yelling out for the others to shut the fuck up.

Thx for the info. No one could ruin it for me anyhow, I plan on enjoying the show no matter what! :D

Honestly...Night 2 was a hell of alot better than night 1 as far as the hecklers were concerned. Maybe it just seemed that way because I was in my 10club seats...I don't know...but the crowd seemed to police itself that evening.

The drunk hecklers were either met with a resounding "Shut the fuck up" from the audience, or humiliated in front of everyone by the man on stage.

Eddie really put some of these clowns in their place.

What continued to baffle me was the idiotic requests from people. "Crazy Mary"? "State of Love and Trust"? "Jeremy"? those people should bave been thrown out on the grounds of stupidity alone. You'd think after going to Night 1 that the fucking "Jukebox Eddie Vedder Man Love Brigade" would realize the type of show that they were in for.

It's amazing that these frat fucks even make it to college.

They have the retention, comprehension, and social skills, of a garden slug.
