haha. Hey no worries. I was just trying to add some that weren't already mentioned is all. I was at Boston 1 & 2 as well and completely agree. After years of listening to the boots and being floored by them and floored by Ed being so floored...this year I finally made my dream of being a part of that magic a reality. :D No argument here. I can safely say that Boston is definitely THE loudest crowd I've ever been a part of. I "get it" completely and honestly never wanna miss a show there again. EVER!

So yes erickvazdel, I will stress BOSTON. ;)

In full agreement about NYC and SF too!

I agree with pretty much everything that's been listed so far. :p
And that's actually a good mixture of shows I did and did not attend.

P.s. I've never attended a Philly show. Next tour that's my next stop.
Boston dream down...Philly dream to go. ;)

Yea, I was kind of the same way. I'd heard about how good Boston was, and since I had just finished school I figured there was no way I could miss those. Now I just need to see them in my hometown. The closest I've gotten so far is Long Island (Uniondale) and that just doesn't cut if for me. Need to see them at MSG. Sadly in 03 I was away for the summer. Now that's my real dream.

If you listen to the Cincy '06 bootleg, you can hear Ed say that it was the bestest, most awesome crowd they've ever played for and they plan to do another US tour totaling 74 shows where they play on different streets in Cincinnati. You have to really listen though.

Cincy '06.....the show of the rocked balls.

And I already know you won't disappoint. :)

you're right, it's SO not philly. indoor venues are the only way to go! :D i can't wait for the next tour!!!

Aw how cool that you did the same thing yosi! :) That's awesome.
Oooh yeah, MSG definitely has to be your next stop. I ended up going in 2003, kinda spontaneously. Completely terrified to fly at the time too. Well that trip got me over that fear and then some. Boston & NYC make the tip top of the list as far as the loudest crowds I've experienced. I felt a lot more unity at the MSG show though. But yeah....both crazy loud and every single fan there is a die hard it seems! It's the most amazing thing!! :D Totally another world. PJ WORLD! haha. It's the best!

nfanel...the poor man's Philly I heard a few people call it. :p haha. I'm so beyond anxious to experience the real deal!! :D I bet it smells a lot better too. Eeeek! hahaa.

Hey coryhill! I actually have heard many people praise the Cincy crowd.
I really gotta hear that boot!

Alright just to even things out a bit I must brag some for the West Coast. :p Ed BOWED to us in SF. He got on his knees and physically BOWED to us people! Unreal! Next to Boston, I had never seen him publically praise a crowd to this extreme before.
For those that haven't yet , do yourself a favor and GET THE SF SHOWS! :D

cincy was pretty awesome, as was cleveland, or "loudville" as ed called it. ohio knows how to make some noise! my biased vote still goes to philly, though. :)

I never choose a boot based on crowd. It's all down to setlist. For example, Kitchener '05 may not get a mention for top crowd db level , but Long Road, Last Exit, LBC, Insignificance, Gimme Some Truth, Faithful, Leatherman, Habit, Blood,Soon Forget/Oops/ Can't Keep, In My Tree, Indifference made it one of a number of memorable shows among the 61 I've seen.

People complain that people only list the shows they have been to but how else would you be able to measure the crowd?

My vote would be SF 1. The crowd and the band were the best I have seen at a Pearl Jam show.

Damn that was quite the set Blind3!
I get what you're saying though. It's different for everyone.

I personally go for the full package deal. rrivers! YES! SF had the full package without a doubt. The amazing set, along with the crazy crowd which in turn fuels the band beyond belief and makes for some of the most epic shows. Sadly the boots don't always do the crowds justice. When I hear one that does it's really fucking exciting.

I adore the Canadia boots but I really feel like the incredible crowds aren't captured properly at all. CALGARY '05 is one of my fav shows and honestly being a part of that crowd was on a MSG level of greatness. The energy of was off the charts. I adore the boot to pieces but in no way does it come close to capturing that.
For me I just LOVE hearing a boot that actually captures it ALL.
The entire orgasmic PEARL JAM experience. Every level of it. :)

I thought for only being there with 6.000 people, Kitchener was quite loud.

  • I am surprised to see very little love for the MSG crowds. I thought night 2 in 98 was one of the loudest shows that I have ever been too. I also thought that the Reading show on the '04 VFC was pretty god damn loud for the size of the crowd. Out of the 50+ shows I have been to, those two are probably the loudest I have been to with some of the Boston and Philly shows coming in third.

  • I saw PJ at Camden twice, pittsburgh, cincy, and milwaukee this year. And surprisingly Cincy was the loudest, just beating out Camden. The show was nuts.

Definitely Milano!! Loud doesn't even begin to explain all that.

PHILLY crowds are also some of the most amazing ones I've ever heard.

And you definitely wanna get the South America & Mexico boots! Those crowds are frighteningly amazing.

Spectrum show was the best crowd I've ever experienced. PEARL JAM PLAY THE SPECTRUM NEXT TIME!! NO CAMDEN!!

I don't know about top 5, but the definitive best crowd in US History:

Philly 2003, live at the old Spectrum...anyone else who was there, please back me up on this. I have never heard anything like it.

im from perth (not a loud crowd!) and i have the boot and i agree, that philly show, although they are not as LOUD as buenos aires or wherever - you can hear them well and the band really bounces off their energy - same with pittsburgh a few days later

philadelphia 2003 is the definitive version of small town for me "helloooooo!"

by the way perth, let's be a bit louder this saturday??
