Absolutely it is ok and I encourage you to ask.
My volunteer group works very hard to fund-raise and collect care package items such as food snacks and hygiene products that we send in huge 30-40 pound boxes to our brave brothers and sisters deployed in Afghanistan. We have to pay USPS priority mail rates with no discount or favors from them. We spend about $2000 just on shipping each month. We are most blessed with support in the local community where schools, places of worship, businesses etc do collection drives for us but many times we are low on items and purchase them with funds as well. We are all volunteer and no one makes a dime. The only thing we make is the amazing feeling of walking out of the post office hopefully changing someone's day for a few minutes when a surprise care package arrives to them. The letters, emails, and tokens of appreciation like US Flags flown in our name and honor only reinforces our mission and makes us want to work even harder to acquire and send more items.
Thank you so much. Wishing you a safe and happy tour starting in just 2 weeks!

My volunteer group works very hard to fund-raise and collect care package items such as food snacks and hygiene products that we send in huge 30-40 pound boxes to our brave brothers and sisters deployed in Afghanistan. We have to pay USPS priority mail rates with no discount or favors from them. We spend about $2000 just on shipping each month. We are most blessed with support in the local community where schools, places of worship, businesses etc do collection drives for us but many times we are low on items and purchase them with funds as well. We are all volunteer and no one makes a dime. The only thing we make is the amazing feeling of walking out of the post office hopefully changing someone's day for a few minutes when a surprise care package arrives to them. The letters, emails, and tokens of appreciation like US Flags flown in our name and honor only reinforces our mission and makes us want to work even harder to acquire and send more items.
