Hi Roger, read the book yesterday on my 4 plane ride tour to NC and back for work. Enjoyed it and wish that I had read it when I was in high school, I am sure I would have finished it and started over again at the start.
We are raising our 9 year old nephew and he doesn't know his father. (His father has been in an out of prison and lives halfway across the country.) We are expecting a son in the next few months as well.
I look forward to giving this book to both of the boys when they hit the right ages and expect they will love it. For the 9 year old I am sure it will be particularly impacting given the themes you deal so well with.

I enjoyed this book and found it to be a page turner. While I can see what others mention on there being 2 stories that go on as part of this book I found both stories to be enjoyable.

I really wish that I had read this book when I was in high school -- it will be one that I give to my son when he gets in that age range.

Sports...music....teen angst....all dealt with in a wholesome manner. Great first effort, look forward to future work from this author!
