I'm so glad we don't use the term sideshows in the US, it cheapens the whole thing. Like a circus sideshow, where's the main act?0

A great oppurtunity has been missed by the band to do some small fan club ONLY shows where they can do whatever they like with the set list. A fan club ONLY show would not take away from the BDO. They could limit it to even fan club only per registered address. So if there is 7000 melbourne ones they play in front of 7000.
They are big enough to have negotiated with BDO and made thier own demands. BDO needs PJ, not the other way round. PJ could have gone Head to Head with BDO and still produce a sell out show.
But I think we need to understand it's not easy touring as much as they do. They have also done enough to deserve the chance to have some fun at a festival and kick back a bit.
I'd much rather be at any venue, with any sort of crowd having Pearl Jam playing than be at home watching A-League on fox sports and spending $185 on sportsbet that I lose anyways.
At the very least to look after us throw in some songs like Rats, crown of thorns etc.
Really they should have done it last year, which would have been tough on Cameron but HUNGER STRIKE in full would have been quite nice lol
It would also be a nice thing if at the end of the show we can hear complaints from the mainstream like "wtf there was no even flow or daughter"2/3/98 Melbourne, 18/2/03 Melbourne, 19/2/03 Melbourne, 20/2/03 Melbourne, 4/9/06 Lisbon, 5/9/06 Lisbon, 7/9/06 Madrid, 9/9/06 Marsielle, 11/9/06 Paris, 7/11/06 Sydney, 8/11/06 Sydney, 10/11/06 Brisbane, 11/11/06 Brisbane, 13/11/06 Melbourne, 14/11/06 Melbourne, 16/11/06 Melbourne, 20/11/00 Melbourne0 -
I will love you forever if I get an ASAP response because I need to buy presale ticks if they are still available! I'm about to blow all my money on BDO tickets to see PJ more than once in Melb and two Sydney shows. They are definitely not doing sideshows are they? I saw Ken West said that it is your only change to see PJ over summer...what happens if they stick around for a month and do shows in March which is Autumn and be sneaky :P ? I'm just pissed that I have not been able to find info saying they are definitely NOT doing any side shows or touring after. I know they are all bringing their families down but it doesn't seem like PJ not to do sideshows! Thanks guys, I wish they didn't join the BDO mind you it is a great lineup!0

There has been quite a few articles suggesting and sayingthey are not doing side shows. Which then suggests they signed a clause, which means that will also state no pearl jam shows within a few months after the BDO.
I would say our best chance of a tour would be if Japans goes nuts on the new record, and they do a summer of 2015 asia, aus or world tour.
They have been here 5 times, I would say they are satisfied doing just BDO for the 6th.2/3/98 Melbourne, 18/2/03 Melbourne, 19/2/03 Melbourne, 20/2/03 Melbourne, 4/9/06 Lisbon, 5/9/06 Lisbon, 7/9/06 Madrid, 9/9/06 Marsielle, 11/9/06 Paris, 7/11/06 Sydney, 8/11/06 Sydney, 10/11/06 Brisbane, 11/11/06 Brisbane, 13/11/06 Melbourne, 14/11/06 Melbourne, 16/11/06 Melbourne, 20/11/00 Melbourne0 -

Yep. Soundgarden played at BDO in 2012 and there were sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney. While in Australia Cornell was interviewed and promised they'd be back later in the year for a full tour. I wonder what happened with that?Sydney, Australia - March 12, 1998; Sydney, Australia - February 14, 2003; Sydney, Australia - November 8, 2006; Sydney, Australia - November 25, 2006; Brisbane, Australia - November, 2009; Gold Coast, Australia - January, 2014, Gold Coast, Australia - November 20240 -

This is done to insure exclusivity
so NO sideshows in Australia
The new Zealand promoter says this isn't the case. He said there may be some surprises. Not specifically about pj just side shows in general0 -
ive been on the page to order tickets and i just cant press accept, i just cant justify $ 185, "my misses says but your happy to spend $1000 and go flying around and see them normally WAA WAA WAA " , But this is different , theres really no one else i wanna see at the bdo i dont wanna spend all day there , have to take the day off work and then see a greatest hits show for or the teenage drugged up punters , while i stand at the back .
I dont know i just cant do it , BDO isnt like your big festivals in Europe and USA ,
What should I Do ?????0 -

Same. The idea of them being in nz and me not seeing them makes me feel physically ill ... More than the irritation of having to go to BDO0 -

Very disappointed there won't be any sideshows. I'm a fan, the BDO isn't designed for fans it is designed for profits! :(0

I'm with Dimitris on this one. Live Pearl Jam at BDO is better than no Pearl Jam.
To expand, my days of forking out excessive amounts of cash for bands that I'd seen on the bill two or three years before are long since gone. My last BDO was when Bjork pulled out of Sydney, which was the only reason I was going. I can't compare BDO to other festivals around the world but I'd imagine they'd be pretty similar in the type of people who attend. But this is Pearl Jam. It's different. Live Pearl Jam is better than no Pearl Jam.
When Pearl Jam were announced, I wished for so long that there would be sideshows. But given their last Aussie tour was all one-stops, I figured the same would be in order here.
My dream is for a Green River reunion sideshow at the Annandale (or Metro), and I can imagine Eddie showing up at the Mudhoney/Cosmic Psychos shows during the tour.
I know that it's a lot of money for really one band (maybe two or three bands - Arcade Fire... Mudhoney...) but at the end of the day, these guys are hitting there 50's, they have families and while have a VERY loyal fanbase worldwide, at the end of the day, they aren't answerable to us. They have been doing this for almost 22 years. I'd rather see them than not see them.

2003 - 11/2 (SYD1), 13/2 (SYD2), 14/2 (SYD3), 8/7 (MSG1), 9/7 (MSG2), 11/7 (BOS3)
2006 - 7/11 (SYD1), 8/11 (SYD2), 10/11 (BRIS1), 18/11 (SYD3)

I know what you mean, tallman :( ...I am still undecided about buying tickets. It isn't about the cost, it is about going to a festival that will be packed with drunk/drugged out teenagers...PJ: Sydney, 11th February 2003 ♥ Sydney, 26th January 2014 ♥ EV: Sydney, 20th March 2011 ♥ EV: Perth, 7th February 2014 ♥ EV: Perth, 8th February 2014 ♥ EV: Sydney, 11th February 2014 ♥ EV: Sydney, 12th February 2014 ♥ EV: Sydney, 13th February 2014 ♥ EV: Brisbane, 22nd February 2014 ♥ EV: Brisbane, 23rd February 2014 ♥ EV: Brisbane, 25th February 2014 ♥

Totally agree with you guys, after doing the full tour in 2009 (except Perth), i took my missus over to Europe last year to do the full tour over there including two festivals (Isle of Wight & Rock Werchter) The shows were the best I've ever seen (Berlin especially both nights) but the festival shows were just as good. Because of the way they are run. Australia has no fucking idea on how to run a festival! Bluesfest is probably the only good true festival at Byron Bay at Easter time. I just cringed when i heard PJ were playing BDO in fact I almost threw up to be honest. The only chance i will see PJ in Aus next year if they dont play their own shows, will be in my hometown in Melbourne. And I guarantee i wont be paying a fucking cent to those BDO dogs. I will jump the fence 1995 style at the bowl. And i'm tipping a few others will follow. I hold out hope that the boys will send their family back home on Feb 3 and then start a kick arse tour (maybe w soundgarden)I hope the band see's this.
I've lived all this life like an ocean in disguise0 -
I will be buying my ticket on Thursday for Sydney 1. I am not a fan of the BDO but I will not miss an opportunity to see Pearl Jam so close to home. I have booked into a hotel at Olympic Park and will get down there at check in time, relax for a bit and then make my way in when I feel ready. I am keen to see Mudhoney and would also recommend The Lumineers, who I saw at Bluesfest this year. I have not been to BDO for at least 15 years and Pearl Jam are the only band that could get me to go but I will try to make the most of it until they are on stage.0

PJ at the BDO sucks :x - but seeing Pearl Jam live in my home town is better than not seeing them at all; so i will be front and centre. Not sure i am up for traveling to see them in other cities though. I think one BDO will be more than enough.Duckyhoward
