ive been on the page to order tickets and i just cant press accept, i just cant justify $ 185, "my misses says but your happy to spend $1000 and go flying around and see them normally WAA WAA WAA " , But this is different , theres really no one else i wanna see at the bdo i dont wanna spend all day there , have to take the day off work and then see a greatest hits show for or the teenage drugged up punters , while i stand at the back .
I dont know i just cant do it , BDO isnt like your big festivals in Europe and USA ,
What should I Do ?????
Yeah I can understand, I really don't care to see anyone else on the lineup either. I guess the real question is though, on the day they are here, playing in your city. Are you going to really regret not being there? That's what swayed me.
Same. The idea of them being in nz and me not seeing them makes me feel physically ill ... More than the irritation of having to go to BDO
I think ill manage some how to get over it this time .
when boys go on stage, take a second of your time and think what Greeky said..
"you will not regret this"
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
I'm with Dimitris on this one. Live Pearl Jam at BDO is better than no Pearl Jam.
To expand, my days of forking out excessive amounts of cash for bands that I'd seen on the bill two or three years before are long since gone. My last BDO was when Bjork pulled out of Sydney, which was the only reason I was going. I can't compare BDO to other festivals around the world but I'd imagine they'd be pretty similar in the type of people who attend. But this is Pearl Jam. It's different. Live Pearl Jam is better than no Pearl Jam.
When Pearl Jam were announced, I wished for so long that there would be sideshows. But given their last Aussie tour was all one-stops, I figured the same would be in order here.
My dream is for a Green River reunion sideshow at the Annandale (or Metro), and I can imagine Eddie showing up at the Mudhoney/Cosmic Psychos shows during the tour.
I know that it's a lot of money for really one band (maybe two or three bands - Arcade Fire... Mudhoney...) but at the end of the day, these guys are hitting there 50's, they have families and while have a VERY loyal fanbase worldwide, at the end of the day, they aren't answerable to us. They have been doing this for almost 22 years. I'd rather see them than not see them.

I know what you mean, tallman :( ...I am still undecided about buying tickets. It isn't about the cost, it is about going to a festival that will be packed with drunk/drugged out teenagers...

Totally agree with you guys, after doing the full tour in 2009 (except Perth), i took my missus over to Europe last year to do the full tour over there including two festivals (Isle of Wight & Rock Werchter) The shows were the best I've ever seen (Berlin especially both nights) but the festival shows were just as good. Because of the way they are run. Australia has no fucking idea on how to run a festival! Bluesfest is probably the only good true festival at Byron Bay at Easter time. I just cringed when i heard PJ were playing BDO in fact I almost threw up to be honest. The only chance i will see PJ in Aus next year if they dont play their own shows, will be in my hometown in Melbourne. And I guarantee i wont be paying a fucking cent to those BDO dogs. I will jump the fence 1995 style at the bowl. And i'm tipping a few others will follow. I hold out hope that the boys will send their family back home on Feb 3 and then start a kick arse tour (maybe w soundgarden) I hope the band see's this.
I've lived all this life like an ocean in disguise
I will be buying my ticket on Thursday for Sydney 1. I am not a fan of the BDO but I will not miss an opportunity to see Pearl Jam so close to home. I have booked into a hotel at Olympic Park and will get down there at check in time, relax for a bit and then make my way in when I feel ready. I am keen to see Mudhoney and would also recommend The Lumineers, who I saw at Bluesfest this year. I have not been to BDO for at least 15 years and Pearl Jam are the only band that could get me to go but I will try to make the most of it until they are on stage.
PJ at the BDO sucks :x - but seeing Pearl Jam live in my home town is better than not seeing them at all; so i will be front and centre. Not sure i am up for traveling to see them in other cities though. I think one BDO will be more than enough.
