Between the 20th - 23rd, something might happen. But seeing that they are on a road trip tour with Big Day Out & crew, I don't believe that they can do any side show's. But you never know. Might be show's after BDO or prior ..
  • really peeved with this whole Big Day Out thing. Not my idea about our band to be honest. They haven't been here for 4 + years . are they selling out. Do you really want to hang about and listen to all that other shit all day in the stinkin hot sun with pisssy drugged out kids around you. give 10 club members a few shows. i Won't go to a Big Day Out

Absolutely shattered too .. won't be going to BDO either as PJ is the only gig I want to see! Tix are way expensive! There is though a few gaps between BDO gigs .. 4 days between Gold Coast & Melb (where I am).. maybe they will do a few sideshows? We can only hope...
  • A side show with Mudhoney opening would actually be what FANS want to see, not people there for a day out on the drink. SO many people on Facebook are like ''who is pearl jam''? If they don't play to their actual fans and only to those people.....good luck to them. Theres a reason Soundgarden wont do it.

Holding out for a AU / NZ tour.
Hopefully the BDO covers them coming over and doing a tour after.
I'll be shattered if they don't.
I loved the BDO as a kid, even when Soundgarden closed the show.

All I want for Christmas is a Australian Pearl Jam Tour and 10C tickets.
  • Totally agree BDO sucks!

Nope .. no Australian side shows.

The announcement email from the BDO says:

"Big Day Out is proud to present Seattle's PEARL JAM who will be playing at each Big Day Out including different sets at each Sydney show. Officially closing the Blue Stage, you don't want to miss out on Pearl Jam's debut Big Day Out shows. This will be your only chance to see Pearl Jam in Australia and New Zealand this summer."

I'm tipping there will be a sideshow in Melbourne (Myer Music Bowl or Etihad Stadium) as there is no mention made on the BDO website that Pearl Jam, or any other band for that matter are appearing exclusively for the Big Day Out. This was indeed the case last year when the Chili Peppers toured exclusively as part of the BDO.

Bring on the Side Show. Eddie loves Melbourne!

There’s no decision on the top three on what they’ll be doing – actually no, the decision’s made for Pearl Jam because they’re bringing family out and having a holiday and [sideshows] are more work. That’s preferable for them and it’s preferable for us"

The schedule is fairly similar to their 2009 tour, when they played about 7 shows in 15 days. They are on the BDO show for a nice holiday where they get paid a heap of money and can hang out with family and some other musicians (e.g. the Mudhoney guys). Eddie wants time to go surfing in between the shows. Sideshows were never going to happen. There's more chance of Eddie strolling into some little bar in Yallingup and singing a few tunes to the unsuspecting locals.

With most if not all festivals the bands sign a non-compete clause which usually stipulates no shows within a certain amount of days and or distance of the festivals.

This is done to insure exclusivity

    so NO sideshows in Australia
