Between the 20th - 23rd, something might happen. But seeing that they are on a road trip tour with Big Day Out & crew, I don't believe that they can do any side show's. But you never know. Might be show's after BDO or prior ..
really peeved with this whole Big Day Out thing. Not my idea about our band to be honest. They haven't been here for 4 + years . are they selling out. Do you really want to hang about and listen to all that other shit all day in the stinkin hot sun with pisssy drugged out kids around you. give 10 club members a few shows. i Won't go to a Big Day Out
Absolutely shattered too .. won't be going to BDO either as PJ is the only gig I want to see! Tix are way expensive! There is though a few gaps between BDO gigs .. 4 days between Gold Coast & Melb (where I am).. maybe they will do a few sideshows? We can only hope...
A side show with Mudhoney opening would actually be what FANS want to see, not people there for a day out on the drink. SO many people on Facebook are like ''who is pearl jam''? If they don't play to their actual fans and only to those people.....good luck to them. Theres a reason Soundgarden wont do it.
Holding out for a AU / NZ tour.
Hopefully the BDO covers them coming over and doing a tour after.
I'll be shattered if they don't.
I loved the BDO as a kid, even when Soundgarden closed the show.
All I want for Christmas is a Australian Pearl Jam Tour and 10C tickets.
Ive seen them play in many venues but never had the privilage of seeing them play a festival.
who know we may get a pink pop gig all over again!!!
we will love em in Perth
"Big Day Out is proud to present Seattle's PEARL JAM who will be playing at each Big Day Out including different sets at each Sydney show. Officially closing the Blue Stage, you don't want to miss out on Pearl Jam's debut Big Day Out shows. This will be your only chance to see Pearl Jam in Australia and New Zealand this summer."

I'm tipping there will be a sideshow in Melbourne (Myer Music Bowl or Etihad Stadium) as there is no mention made on the BDO website that Pearl Jam, or any other band for that matter are appearing exclusively for the Big Day Out. This was indeed the case last year when the Chili Peppers toured exclusively as part of the BDO.
There’s no decision on the top three on what they’ll be doing – actually no, the decision’s made for Pearl Jam because they’re bringing family out and having a holiday and [sideshows] are more work. That’s preferable for them and it’s preferable for us"

The schedule is fairly similar to their 2009 tour, when they played about 7 shows in 15 days. They are on the BDO show for a nice holiday where they get paid a heap of money and can hang out with family and some other musicians (e.g. the Mudhoney guys). Eddie wants time to go surfing in between the shows. Sideshows were never going to happen. There's more chance of Eddie strolling into some little bar in Yallingup and singing a few tunes to the unsuspecting locals.
With most if not all festivals the bands sign a non-compete clause which usually stipulates no shows within a certain amount of days and or distance of the festivals.

A great oppurtunity has been missed by the band to do some small fan club ONLY shows where they can do whatever they like with the set list. A fan club ONLY show would not take away from the BDO. They could limit it to even fan club only per registered address. So if there is 7000 melbourne ones they play in front of 7000.
They are big enough to have negotiated with BDO and made thier own demands. BDO needs PJ, not the other way round. PJ could have gone Head to Head with BDO and still produce a sell out show.
But I think we need to understand it's not easy touring as much as they do. They have also done enough to deserve the chance to have some fun at a festival and kick back a bit.
I'd much rather be at any venue, with any sort of crowd having Pearl Jam playing than be at home watching A-League on fox sports and spending $185 on sportsbet that I lose anyways.
At the very least to look after us throw in some songs like Rats, crown of thorns etc.
Really they should have done it last year, which would have been tough on Cameron but HUNGER STRIKE in full would have been quite nice lol
It would also be a nice thing if at the end of the show we can hear complaints from the mainstream like "wtf there was no even flow or daughter"
I will love you forever if I get an ASAP response because I need to buy presale ticks if they are still available! I'm about to blow all my money on BDO tickets to see PJ more than once in Melb and two Sydney shows. They are definitely not doing sideshows are they? I saw Ken West said that it is your only change to see PJ over summer...what happens if they stick around for a month and do shows in March which is Autumn and be sneaky :P ? I'm just pissed that I have not been able to find info saying they are definitely NOT doing any side shows or touring after. I know they are all bringing their families down but it doesn't seem like PJ not to do sideshows! Thanks guys, I wish they didn't join the BDO mind you it is a great lineup!
There has been quite a few articles suggesting and sayingthey are not doing side shows. Which then suggests they signed a clause, which means that will also state no pearl jam shows within a few months after the BDO.
I would say our best chance of a tour would be if Japans goes nuts on the new record, and they do a summer of 2015 asia, aus or world tour.
They have been here 5 times, I would say they are satisfied doing just BDO for the 6th.

Soundgarden played BDO last year...
Yep. Soundgarden played at BDO in 2012 and there were sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney. While in Australia Cornell was interviewed and promised they'd be back later in the year for a full tour. I wonder what happened with that?

This is done to insure exclusivity
so NO sideshows in Australia
The new Zealand promoter says this isn't the case. He said there may be some surprises. Not specifically about pj just side shows in general
ive been on the page to order tickets and i just cant press accept, i just cant justify $ 185, "my misses says but your happy to spend $1000 and go flying around and see them normally WAA WAA WAA " , But this is different , theres really no one else i wanna see at the bdo i dont wanna spend all day there , have to take the day off work and then see a greatest hits show for or the teenage drugged up punters , while i stand at the back .
I dont know i just cant do it , BDO isnt like your big festivals in Europe and USA ,

Yeah I can understand, I really don't care to see anyone else on the lineup either. I guess the real question is though, on the day they are here, playing in your city. Are you going to really regret not being there? That's what swayed me.
