Austria - Switzerland - Spain -Italy would make me very happy :D

    Of course Greece too ;)

I love Scandinavia, but it's just so expensive! Plus 3 different currencies in a couple of days drove me nuts last year..

I vote for UK - Germany - Austria - Czech Republic - Poland. Don't mind if I do Spain & Switzerland either. one italian show at the Arena in Verona (stadium venues in Italy suck).

I love Germany but I want to go somewhere new apart from Berlin. Love the place but time to go somewhere new. Wuhlheide would be great again though. Czech would be great as I've never been, I saw PJ in Poland in 2007, great show. A Belgium show would be spiffing :D

UK is fine. I live here so no big deal really. I wouldn't be surprised if they play festivals here next year as opposed to arenas.

They released an album in 2009. How many days do you think they worked on the current one? He put together uke songs that he wrote over a decade. He practices for a few days. What else?

Stop hating on Scandinavia, it's not all that expansive if you know where to stay and where to drink.

Did not find Berlin or London to be cheaper!

You all loved the swedish concert, you know it, you want them back. Stop this nonsense.

(But would love them to visit the smaller countries and the former eastern European countries/cities. More Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic - and less of the big and "dull" places like Germany/Berlin and England/London (and maybe also Stockholm and such)!

But most of all - JAPAN!

Likely going to Europe (France) for the very fist time next summer, so hopefully if I do, Pearl Jam will be over there at the same time. That'd be a dream come true! :)

Does anyone besides me think they may hit some markets in the US they skipped? Houston, FL, Atlanta, Denver, Midwest? I wouldn't be shocked if they cross the pond for a quick European tour as well

INT. LUXERY HOME IN SEATTLE ( EDDIES PLACE ) - DAY
EDDIE VEDDER (50) is sitting at home with GLEN HANSERD (40) sharing a couple of beers. The faint sound of NEIL YOUNGS voice can be heard from Eddies iphone being hooked up to a pair of speakers. You can tell from Glens face he would have wanted to listen to something from Neil Youngs golden era (60-70s + Harvest Moon) but you can tell the choice of songs are from Are You Passionate and forward.

Eddie is slowly strumming on Luke-the-Uke while Glen is talking about all the fun things they should do together the following summer; surfing, catching a Twilight-marathon and maybe do another solo tour together. They seem to be having a swell time.

Eddies iphone rings. He stares at the phone with a troublesome look. After a few moments he picks the phone up. Neil Youngs shaky voice and uninspiring post-Broken-Arrow-lyrics are cut off.

    STONE (OS)
    Yo... Ed...eh... where are you?

    EDDIE
    Who's this?

    STONE (OS)
    ...it's Stone... Stone... Gossard...

    EDDIE
Oh, right. Right. Didn't recognize the voice.

    STONE (OS)
But, dude, you have my number saved... in your phone..?

    EDDIE
Eh... yeah... no... Haven't gotten around to it yet... been playing a lot of Angry Birds... and you know... rehearsing some of my solo stuff like Thumbing my way, Parting Ways and Sometimes...

    An awkward pause.

    STONE (OS)
    Those are not solo songs...

    EDDIE
I'm pretty sure they are, man...

    STONE (OS)
    No...

    EDDIE
Then.. why... would I only play them solo smart-ass?

    Another awkward pause.

    STONE (OS)
Yeah... well... anyways... we're waiting here on you, where are you dude?

    EDDIE
    I'm home...

    STONE (OS)
But... what... why? We need the lyrics man...

    EDDIE
    Lyrics..?

    STONE (OS)
To the songs. To the new album? You were suppose to be here by now... recording your vocals...

    EDDIE
Oh...yeah... eh... for the Pearl... Pearl... the Pearl album... right, right...

    STONE (OS)
    It's Pearl Jam.

    EDDIE
    Right yeah... eh...

    STONE (OS)
We've all been working on the songs for over a month here man... all we've asked for you the last couple of albums is to come in with the punk-fillers and the lyrics man... Even Boom is here... got in from Hawaii yesterday... real giddy... So are you on your way?

    EDDIE
Eh... yeah.... what was the name again?

    STONE (OS)
It's Pearl Jam... the band name... is... Pearl Jam...

Eddie is my favorite singer of all time, but I think you are giving him too much credit. He barely does interviews, he goes on the road for short periods of time, they rehearse for a week at most before the tour, I could go on and on but I am derailing this thread .

It all comes down to this- most people work 8 hrs a day for 5 days a week for 50 weeks of the year. EV cannot get close to this (---> my guess). He absolutely has time to write a solo album and tour 25 dates.

I agree that he needs rest but then he needs to do a solo record where he doesn't restrict himself to one subject matter or one instrument. Maybe 2015 or 2016.

My guess is that they're going straight back to Europe, South America and Australia/NZ over the next couple of years.

If trends continue, they won't be back in Chicago until 2017. :fp:

Question. If they do Europe somewhere between June - August 2014 I could probably manage to get to a couple shows at least. I've never been to Europe and would love to go. Being an American, I only speak English (and some would argue that even that is questionable at best  ) so my question, is how do you guys get by in these countries where you don't speak the language?

You get by in most countries fine, I only speak Swedish and English so I have to retort (if that is the word) to english too... The countries who are stupid enough to stilldub their films in their native tongue have a bit more problems with their English and there is also pride involved. But for the most part it would be pretty much no problems on this civilized continent and atleast not when it comes to hotels and such! You may have to try to talk to young people though, in France and Italy for example old people haven't had the chance to learn English.

I found the Ed/Stone conversation funny, but not at all accurate (not that it was meant to be). I think Ed, as an artist in general, is constantly creating, even if it's just in his head.

C'mon people, he has a family too, and he has the luxury of spending a great deal of time with them if he wants, but I don't think music, PJ or solo, is ever far from his mind.

and I think we will see more US dates next year, as well as Europe, and probably NZ/Australia

The US legs in October/November WILL NOT be the only promotion in the US for the new record, that I can guarantee
Don't come closer or I'll have to go

English is well spoken in most parts of Europe and particular the big cities where PJ will play you'll get by with direction etc. You'll be surprised how easy it is really. You could use the opportunity to learn a few phrases and try them out too ;)

You show the money and everyone in Europe will be ready to communicate with you with perfect English.

I, once had a beggar lady ask me in Frankfurt in perfect English, "Do you have 2 euros to give me?".

PS: I am kidding. It wont be that difficult, people will be ready to help plus once you're in the 10C circle, you'll be rolling with it, I guess.
What's your part, who you are?

    2012: Arras, Berlin 1-2
    2013: Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires
    2014: Milano, Trieste, Vienna, Berlin
    2016: NY MSG 1

    yeah..no scandinavia!!!

 I've never been Scandinavia so I'll be up for it

Austria - Switzerland - Spain -Italy would make me very happy :D

    Of course Greece too ;)

I am worried about Switzerland Swiss Franc conversion thing.

I guess Switzerland is more expensive than Scandinavia.

In my experience, Germany is the cheapest.
