    here is my question.

my belief system has changed several times in my 38 years.

can't god evolve his postions from the books written a couple of thousand years ago, or is he bound to what is written? i mean he IS god, so can't he adapt and evolve like everyone else??

I used to have a theory somewhere that if God is omnipotent (in the Christian sense: all-powerful, all-seeing, without equal etc), then he/she must also be beyond comparison and therefore indescribable, as our language is, by nature, limiting and finite in it's application. And if God is indescribable, then our words about him/her are meaningless. I played around with this as a way to attack religion when it's used as a weapon against others.

I'm not sure if the theory makes any sense, but I used to kick it around a lot. Then I got bored with it.

Just heard in CNN that the pope said that if someone is gay, and accepts god, and has good will; who am I to judge?

I'm in no way religious, but good for him.

    i feel the same
he's been pretty cool as popes go
This was forced by evolution. All religions will adjust their stands in order to survive but in the end all will become extinct.

Or, in more colorful POD language...

I am supposed to be grateful because now they JUST call me a sinner and not an abomination or the cause for the downfall of civilization?

The pope/head child molester/whatever Frannie Fanny wants to call herself can eat shit as far as I'm concerned. Sell the Vatican. Give the money to their victims. Jail the people you find inside.

Actually, I get what you're saying and tend to agree (and I'm religious).

I particularly think it's true when people try to rationalize why God doesn't exist or make sense. I always wonder why, if there really was an Omnipotent, Omniscient God, why would anyone think it logical to disprove God's existence utilizing our extremely limited human knowledge, experience or logic.

It would be like getting a millisecond view of a scenario and then saying exactly what was happening. You couldn't have any real confidence as to your own theory.

god is evolution, god is all positions far & wide, inside out, overlapped & overwhelming
god would be those thousands of years you asked about with the writings of some books. god is bound to only self
i'd think god is all time, past, present & future

  • the more i learn about this pope, the more i like him.

i am worried that since he is more progressive, some hardliner might try to kill him.
