I have been shut out before and it sucks but more often then not i get good seats through the 10c, back in 2009 i got shut out and got tickets at stubhub that i paid way too much for only to see scalpers selling tickets at face outside key arena the day of the show.

I would also change the 2 tickets per 10C member rule to only 1 10C ticket per member and here's why: twice the number of genuine 10C members would be in with a chance to win the lottery instead of ticket spares being given to other people, and yes I know many spares are going to 10C members who weren't drawn in the lottery in the first place but at the same time many spares are just going to non members. If the floor of a venue is booked for 10C members only, I would like to see only 10C members on that floor and not friends of friends who are just there because they were sold or given the spare, if you know what I mean.
This is a great point. I'm a big fan of single tix.
So since my wife is a fan but I have the membership she can't go with me????? :? Sounds silly

This is what happens when you have a broken system. Everyone and their brother comes up with some hairbrain idea that sounds good to them. A one ticket policy is not a good idea. It only benefits people who don't have friends. And now we are wasting time arguing about a silly suggestion. The only reasonable option is to do away with the lottery altogether or tweak it so that members with seniority have better chances at winning.

But this system does not work. Anyone can see that.

Lottsa good points brought up here!!!! I don't like the latest method , but not sure what the perfect solution is.
I changed by not changing at all!
  • Any argument that starts with I and not we is always wrong. I didn't get tickets, so it sucks. I always got tickets so that was good. More tix are available now, but I used to always get tickets, so who cares about the folks that used to miss out because I always got what I wanted. Now I didn't, so it must be bad.

Does that sum up your argument? Way too many I's in there. Now in your attempt, you masked the I with collectives, but my paragraph above was really what you were saying.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

Limit the amount of how many shows you can go to....Via fan club ticekts....Will help out a lot....3 ot 4 shows is plenty per a fan club member.....I still don't understand how some fans didn't win tickets for the shows ....That the 10c had a second drawing for...

If you don't like your tickets you can give them to me, and end your career at 80

After the frustration of 8+ hours online trying to get tickets to PJ20 and getting shut out, I like the new system. I don't have to spend an entire day at my computer and I still get a great shot at good seats. Plus, there is a lot more to being a member of the Ten Club than just getting concert tickets. The band and the club treat its fans extremely well. If I occasionally have to go through Ticketmaster or Stubhub to see my favorite band because I got shut out of Ten Club tickets, then so be it.

Good question and another issue related to the new system. It seems clear to me that this was anything but an automated process. I say this because I waited from 1PM until 11PM to find out if I was selected. I would think an automated process would be a tad bit quicker than 10 hours. So manual intervention was applied at some point and I think it became way more complicated than they anticipated resulting in a monumnetal clusterf*. I think/hope this explains why it was such a disaster because this means that it has a chance to be fixed somehow. But we'll never really know because the 10 club is not addressing this issue and is acting like everything is fine when it is not.

My personal experience from being in the 10 club since 1996:

Chance of getting tix thru 10 club prior to lottery system = 100% (20 for 20)
Chance of getting tix thru 10 club with lottery system = 12.5% (1 for 8)

thats the success of the new system..the rest 87.5% went to different members than just to one

That's not how statistics work - I wasn't getting 87.5% of the tickets previously. But lets not get stuck on statistics. This is not a success in my eyes or to the others who have been in the club for a while. How is it a success when long time, loyal members are suddenly given the shaft? Is it a success to tell these members that your seniority is suddenly almost worthless? But thanks for lining the 10 clubs pockets all those years? Not good business to crap on your loyal fan base IMO. And I still don't buy the numbers - there is no way there are more fans in the 10 club now than there were in the late 90s or early 00s where everyone was happy and eveyone got tix. We never worried about getting tix in those days - only worried about how good of seats our 10 club number got us. Now we are fighting over crumbs and not even getting those. So where are all of the tickets suddenly? And now some shows that people were shut out for in the lottery are all of a sudden available again? Including GA/pit? That tells me the lottery failed to get the right people the right tix.

The lottery should be either eliminated or improved by:

    1. making it fully automated - come up with the right algorithm and let it run. No more of this 10 hour wait time.

    2. update the algorithm so that seniority matters. Give members with better seniority better chances at winning the lottery. new members still have a shot at tix and even GA/pit but seniority still matters.

seniority matters as always AFTER you score tix..as ALWAYS
Never seniority has to do with scoring tix..with the previous system f-5 a new member of 10 days in the club could score and a 20 years old member not
lottery change the way of selling the tickets,NOT seniority
seniority has to do ONLY with the location of your seat AFTER and IF you score tix
    its so clear that..
AND we pay membership PER YEAR..for THIS year my money, worth the same as yours...
you cant just like that you to have better chances than others..
at 2013 ALL have the same chances..ALL... new or old members..
AFTER you score you get better seats..
BUT to score tix NO..same chanches as the rest of the members..no matter when you join the club

and now there are 200.000 active memebrs..AWAY more than early 90's

as long as i've been a member - since 2003 - i've only had a "chance" of scoring tix. i will admit, in the past i have been, thankfully, ALWAYS lucky and scored tix to every show i wanted to attend. that said, i often had to take off work, spend HOURS stressing at the computer, etc. this year, while not thrilled that i could only buy tix to ONE of my local shows, i AM still happy. i had ZERO stress trying for tix, managed to score 10c tix to brooklyn 1, and bought a friend's spare for brooklyn 2. yea, it's new and different, but c'est la vie.
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow
