ten is a great record but the production leaves something to be desired. also, some of the other records or so goddam good that it's hard for ten to get into the top 5

    1.yield
    2./3. binaural/no code (changes)
    4. avocado
    5. Vs.
    6. Vitalogy
    7. Ten
8 Riot Act (though i DO love it)
    9. backspacer
i have a paper here that entitles me to fast track status

If I had never heard a PJ album before...Ten would absolutely be #1.

For me...and I'm guessing a lot of folks here...we've heard those songs so many times.

My list is more of a "what are you listening to" list, as opposed to a greatest album list.

    1 - No Code
    2 - Binaural
    3 - VS
    4 - Yield
    5 - Ten
    6 - Vitalogy
    7 - Avacado
    8 - Riot Act
    9 - Lightning Bold
    10 - BS
    2006 - Marcus Ampitheater, Milwaukee
2011 - Alpine Valley Ampitheater, East Troy
    2013 - Wrigley Field, Chicago
2014 - Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul
    2014 - Bradley Center, Milwaukee
    2016 - Wrigley Field, Chicago
    2018 - Wrigley Field, Chicago
  • I didn't want to respond because I thought it may come off as trolling but honestly it's not at all, I merely want to share a thought :)

I can Completely understand and accept that many people don't have Ten in their top 5 fav albums. That's because music is art and art is subjective. Thus one man's Ten is another's Riot Act, so to speak.

But I must say, if we are looking at this objectively (no person feelings, just doing our best to determine which album is "best") I'd be flabbergasted if people would put Ten out of PJs top 5 albums.

The songs on that album, though at times over-produced, are so fantastic it's unreal. Granted those are just my feelings but c'mon, just look at the track list. Shit's unreal. I think most can agree they really did something special on that album.

But thats just my take. God I love Pearl Jam :)

Peace all! Keep rockin to whatever your fav album is! Maybe come October it'll be Lightning Bolt!! (And god bless polite discourse. Those who think it's "negative" don't get it. We just love talking bout our common love!)

I havent listened to the first three in years!! aside from live stuff, those studio albums get no play in the 4runner..

Ten is the best. The remixed version is great too.

You can not deny the greatness of ten. From start to finish its amazing and can never be recreated.

Not to take away from other albums. Riot act and binaural are my favorites, but I grew up on ten. To say any album, even the masterpiece Vs, is better than ten, is simply wrong.

If vitalogy was pjs first record, it wouldn't have ever had the response ten did.

    OP...

I thought we were keeping it in one thread?
    viewtopic.php?f=4&t=204749

In the past 3 months I've had two votes. The score keepers and myself will not let this die

I'm really waiting on the new album. Brian Lux has a really good system. My personal count is stricter. One album, I will not say...

    Didn't make it....

    Go vote now. ;)

wasn't looking for people's rankings of albums, but if they want to give it cool, just wanted to know if anyone else had Ten ranked that low, and when I voted originally it was much higher, just been really burned out on it, there are a couple songs on there I really can't stand to listen to anymore, that is why it has been falling on my own rankings

    This is the truth.

"Technically" nothing they've done after 10 can ever come close. Nothing.

Does that put it in the top five for ME? Maybe, maybe not, but that's only because it's become larger than itself and suffers from exhaustion that isn't its fault.

    my personal rankings:

    1. Binaural
    2. Vitalogy (Tremor Christ is their best song ever)
    3. Yield
    4. No Code
    5. Riot Act
    6. VS
    7. Ten

    10. *
    11. *
    12. *
    13. *
    14. Backspacer

Agree 100%. Ten deserves the ultimate respect. It is the best debut album ever a band has put out. Here it goes:

    Ten: Monumental

Vs, Vitalogy, No Code, Yield, Binaural: Legendary masterpiece

    Riot Act, Avocado: Masterpiece

    Backspacer: Really awesome.

I agree as I haven't listened to Ten in many years but I don't think I have ever played another CD as many times as I did Ten? Lets suffice it to say it is their most anthemic release to date?

8 out of 9 for me just above backspacer.

sure there are legendary pearl jam songs on ten but it just doesn't have the creativity juices we've witnessed on their others...

edit: ten is easily the most dated pearl jam sounding album.
