what say you?
What are you running from?
Taking pills to get along
Creating walls to call your own
So no one catches you?
Drifting off and doing all the things...
That we... all... do

i just think they've WAY overplayed it on this tour. sometimes 4-5 shows in a row.

No they shouldn't. Anyway the band will decide when it's time to retire it. When they don't get the crowd going with it, then they might think about it. I hope they play it on all the shows I'm going to this year. :)

If they retire "YL" how else will people know to leave and head to their cars to avoid the rush?

  • i say YES!!!!!!!!! how about they play it on nights they feel "special" as a treat or somthing? but anyway, they have closed with this over 50% of the time ive seen them. so i could deal without it so much on the next few tours.

    but whatever.

OH yeah, retire corduroy too while were at it :)
    peace, love.

i've never been a big fan of this song... actually, i take that back. i used to LOVE it, but i have heard it so many times that it's lost a bit of its luster. however, the crowd response is always huge when mike hits the opening notes and so i think it's still a good closer. i'd rather see the whole closing repertoire get changed up: RITFW, Baba, YL, etc... but at the end of the day, I still enjoy each one every time they're played.

I hope they finish every concert from now on with it, doesn't bother me a bit, as long as Mr McCready is happy, lol

they should keep playing it but retire it as a closer. a show should end rocking out to like Baba or Rocking in the free world. YLB saps the energy out of the crowd

No doubt you have never seen All Those Yesterdays live..... It had zero energy in Detroit 98.... It must be a hard song for Stone to pull off and have it sound good, hence why they Soundchecked it for the Gorge but chose not play it.

Ledbetter is of course the perfect closer.... I am confused why people complain about it, the other option is to get to hear no song as the band would end with the closing rocker (RITFW,Baba, Alive,Porch etc..etc..)

    Retired? no
changed from a closer to a random spot in a set? yes

I think at this point it would be too weird to throw it in just anywhere and it doesn't have enough energy to really rock in the middle of a show, but it could certainly fill a spot towards the end of a set, or maybe in the middle of a slow encore.

Or it would be pretty sweet to see it be played as part of an accoustic opener a la Mansfield III '03.

They should play it every show. Think about the last moments of every show when they just finished Baba or Rockin, arent you always hoping for Ledbetter? It's nice to have a little closer at the end of the show, to just sit back and enjoy the last song without wondering if your going to get one more or not.

They should OPEN the show with it. Change the tag, and then close the show with it.

It is one of Mr. McCready's finest moments on stage. I am not willing to miss that.

  • I heard it all three nights on this leg. It is great to hear although I rarely listen to it myself anymore. I do like it at the end of a show just not every night. The star-spangled banner didn't really do it for me though, Mike can drop that.

    nope

    never

    thanks
  • If the crowd still gives a good reaction to the song, it wont be retired. I have seen them 5 times now, and I love to hear it. One of the shows, they ended with RITFW and I was disappointed on not hearing YL. It is just a great song.

Well as Eddie said in San Francisco night III 'I thought when you broke the guitar the show was over?'

And everyone aside from Mike was leaving the stage, but Mike just loves to play the song, and so the rest of the band stuck around to play it.

So you know what? Stop bitching about what songs they play and where in the setlist they play them. They are the ones performing the music, and they can choose when and when not to play a song.

Very few people care that they play it for 4 or 5 shows in a row. For every person saying "Don't play it, I heard it at the last two shows" there are about 500 that are at their only show. They can't (or at least should not) tailor thier shows to the people who follow them around. There are thousands in the building that are attending their only show. What do they are if they played it at the previous four shows?
I cannot come up with a new sig till I get this egg off my face.

I personally have never left during the song, but at the DC show, people were clearing out to get a taxi, get on the metro before it closed, etc..... YL is the only secure sign the show is about to end, I don't think they have ever played another song after YL?

I'm pretty sure they played Baba after YL before.
