We bought tix for this one yesterday! It was kind of a last minute impulse kind of thing... Didn't think it through first. Any advice on the best way to get there and back from northern nj on a Friday afternoon? My brother has a conference in NYC until early afternoon. Are we going to make it in time with traffic etc? We don't want to stay over so need the return trip to be easy too. Open to public transportation too. Thx for any advice.
How early we talking? 1pm? 3:30 p.m.?
Being a veteran of driving from southern CT up north toward New Haven/ Hartford on a Friday, I can tell you its murder. If its closer to the former above, you should be fine, but you've got to get out of Dodge quickly if traveling by car. As it will be October, you won't have the summer traffic that you normally would (Cape Cod, Boston, New Hampshire, Maine travelers typically ALL come up 95 via New Haven and then East. If its the latter, consider taking Metro North from Grand Central to New Haven. You can then take Amtrak from New Haven to Hartford for $13.00 (check Amtrak site, there are multiple departures) and the station is maybe 4 blocks from the venue. If you go by car, go up the Merritt Parkway, which dumps you out onto 91 in Wallingford, thus avoiding New Haven all together.
Oh yeah, see you there!!

Thanks so much for the ideas duska3419 and Mr. Hand. I think we should be able to leave closer to 1:00 so I guess we'll put on a bootleg and drive it. Somehow the return trip driving is more appealing to me than trains. Still have to convince hubby (and myself a bit) that I should do this one after going to Brooklyn 2 and both Philly earlier in the week.

Need a Release opener. I've been to 8 shows and have yet to hear it; have gotten: Long Road, Go, Hard to Imagine, Wash, Of the Girl, Corduroy, Unthought Known, & Elderly Woman.
But, if I get Release at Worcester the week before, I'll be fine with that too.

Release is my #1 choice for the opener.

Who's in charge of the pre-party situation?
I'd like to know of at least a couple of solid places to go prior to the show.
I have no idea who's in charge of the pre-party but Black Bear Saloon is probably the best location to go to. Right near the Civic Center.

Hoping for Long Road or Of the Girl to open and for Gone to be anywhere in the set list. This will be my 4th show and Release has opened for two of them. Love the song, but hoping for one I haven't heard yet.

Newch, what kind of atmosphere is the clientele there? College kids or older...mix'd?
I do prefer grittier, less formal places, although I have never been to the BB.
I've been there once for the EVCT11 pre-party. It definitely has a college kids and older feel to it. I guess you can call it a sports bar. Great atmosphere there. It was packed with PJ fans for the party, which will probably be the same if the Wishlist Pre-Party is held there again.

Strongly agree with Gone being on the setlist!! Should be played more.

I always seem to have a great time here.... So easy to get from here to there. It's like it's only PJ fans in the whole damn city on show day.
Pre parties are sweet
Should be great as usual.
